More "proof" of an Xbox 360 price cut hit the interwebs yesterday with the leak of a
Toys R Us ad. The leaked Toys R Us ad shows exactly what its long distance cousin from
Wal-mart displays, a $50 price cut on the Premium 360. Supposedly, both ads come from August 12th when the rumored price cut will occur and subsequently the internets will explode. Well, maybe not explode, but get really hopped up on caffeine and run around hugging anyone in sight. Anyway, these ads simply add more fuel to the Xbox 360 price cut fire, but we'll only be able to know the complete story and the truth in a few weeks. And for all our "I need to see them with my own eyes!" readers, bigger scans of both the Toys R Us and Wal-mart ads are viewable over at Cheap Ass Gamer after the jump.

You know I'll be glad if this is true but I do wish it was going to be a $70 difference. At $70 off and the HD DVD going for $179 you would be around the same amount as the PS3. Yes you would still need the WiFi piece and you would have less storage but it would place pricing near the $500 PS3 offering.
Not that I'm going to bitch about $50 off, because it's more than welcome.

they need to lower the 20gb HDrives too, or no longer make the cores, and drop them to $199 to beat the Wii. B/c w/ a premium @ $349 who wants a core?? Who wants a core anyway, but cheapos??? But if their gonna be cheap, then drop it 2 a cheapos price, let the Wii's be gone and let them buy a core, w/ no HDrive, if they are dumb enough 2 keep the 20gb @ $100. $199+$100=$300, still cheaper than a premium, but Wifi contrlr=$50, back to the $350 price tag. Makes more since, except u get an extra wired cntrlr. Maybe drop the core to $249?? Is that better M$?

Aw fuck!! I wish I knew the price was going to drop because I wouldn't have bought it when it launched!!

poor attempt at a price drop its no what i thought was gonna happen. i was thinking more of a $100 price drop and drop the core sytem. but i should know microsoft by now since the dont extend there warrenty to disk read errors or scrathing. the few games that are exclusive is the only thing holding them up write now halo4 anybody?. im waiting for a better price drop to buy another 360(you know why!! no red ring no warrenty damn you MS!!!). the 360 basically has no more exclusives if i did only have a PS3 and wanted a 360 game all i have to do is drop some money on some upgrades and then i can experince 360 games that come out on the PC too(which is all of them with more content and better looking accept for you UBISOFT YOU SUCK ASS WITH HALF ASSED PORTS TO THE PC AND PS3) and games that come out like crysis but the money i used to buy the hd tv took all that away so 360 it is.

The price drop is imminent.

I disagree MYPS3KilledMy360 with some things you said, but I don't care ;)

@5 Do you mean that you would give up 2 years of playing the 360 to save $50? I wouldn't, but that's just me.
@4 The 360 has no exclusives aside from Halo? Do you live under a rock?
I think this price drop is good because it comes at a time when console sales are typically slow, and preceeds a time when three or four system-selling games are coming out. This is a good move.

I don't think the price drop needs to compete with the Wii. If E3 taught us anything, it's that people need to think different. Sure, Nintendo can sell 100 million hunks of plastic if they want. But as E3 showed us, people who own Wii's aren't buying games. I own a Wii and the only game I have that is worth it is Resident Evil 4.... a rehashed GC game. Super Paper Mario was okay but mostly just weird. For the 360 though, I have MANY MANY times the amount of games. Hell, I own 28 arcade games alone. I own at least 20 Xbox360 games. For my Wii, I have 5 I think... and that's IT. Given two consoles with a high sales rate (i.e., double digit millions) the developers could give a crap about how many consoles sell.... at that point, they want to see if people actually buy games for the system.

Heh, you fell victim to a troll and sarcasm. Been on the intertubes long?

I don't consider myself a troll. Sarcastic, yes. But hardly a troll.
Truth be told, I don't see a $50 price drop being a big deal. I honestly see the problem being with the price point of the games. I think psychologically, people don't like seeing game break the $49.99 barrier. I have coworkers who have said to me, "You have a 360, the games are too expensive." True, they are only $10 more than Wii games, but that does add up over time.

It's true, who really needs a core theses days... But my cousin is going to buy one... His premium 360 had the red lights of death, but before he sent it in, he kept his hard drive [for his game saves]... He sent it in to Circuit City, because he had one at launch, and bought a 2 year warranty... Circuit City just gave him a 430.99 gift card [the extra 31$ are for tax] So I just told him to get the core, because he has a hard drive, and he already has a extra wireless controller.... All he really needs is the HD cables and a headset... He ends up saving a lot of money, especially if the Core gets a price cut of 50 bucks...
