Rare is bringing Viva Piñata to the DS
During the final day of Comic Con, Rare held a Viva Piñata panel discussion and made a surpeise announcement that Viva Piñata will be heading to the Nintendo DS. So, it looks like Shane Kim's talk of bringing the franchise to the DS making sense ended up being one of those sly hints of things to come. Viva Piñata on the DS is being developed by Rare and will be very similar to its lovably fun Xbox 360 version featuring the same core gameplay elements. Nothing more about the DS version was mentioned other than it'll be teh awesomeness, but we'd like to hear when the DS version will hit retail, if it'll incorporate the DS's wireless features and how pretty it is.So, there you have it fanboys. Viva Piñata will be on the Nintendo DS and Horstachio will have a new condo to call home. Touch screen and all!

RARE should worry about the making money and original fun games for the 360 and casual gamers of all ages and not making oney for other companies. i guess since MS doesnt have a hand held of there own there gonna put there best efforts into making a sytem they also dubbed a failure when it released stay in last place(in my eyes both handhelds cater to different needs, you want a console experience with music, videos, wifi and an internet browser go with the PSP, if want wifi, fun games with innovation and mass appeal go DS) .

Rare will make a fortune with this, which they'll invest in more excellent games for other platforms (including the 360). What's not to like!?

Actually, MS will make a fortune from this. Rare is property of MS.

Given Rare's track record, this game should be out for the DS just in time for Christmas 2011.

@5 somebody wants a cookie "Handhelds are not consoles".
are you trying to tell me the psp isnt the closes thing to actually holding a console in your hands sure the games arent that great now but with all the ps1 games that you may or may not have experienced (cough FF7) and the great games coming out like crank, japanese anime based games that usually never reach the shore of the states that turn out to be great, syphon filter, FF 20th anniversary, FF crisis core, FF dissdia(FF is the mario of PSP), MGS, Kingdom hearts spinoff, the new grand tourismo coming out, and the ability to emulate any last gen system of yester year and come pretty damn close to the ps2s graphics(the #333 makes me smile) you cant just say its another handheld its on another level its a mini console that allows you to listen to music, watch great quality videos and browse the internet with a wifi connection and with a wifi connection i can stream videos and music from my psp to my ps3. sorry but its the truth it connects to my now dead 360(despite my name thats not what happened i can no longer afford scratched disks and errors and my ps3 and with the new psp which i will buy like the people who bought ds lite i can finally go out and and play an rpg for a fairly long time on a trip plus i always buy an extra battery with an ac adaptable charger. im not saying psp is better than ds im saying it appeals to different people and what the want. while ds has original fun gams and some that you just have to keep on playing. the psp has an un matched library covering all handhelds(i was playing pokemon leaf green on the psp the experience was so much better compared to my sp), all ps1 consoles and down(FF, chrono trigger, marvel vs capcom, all owned and played by me but on a handheld all those games are amazing replay value has sertanly doubled), and some arcade games(metal slug anthology), through homebrew emulation!!! snk vs capcom 2 on the psp multiplayer anyone(its possible) PLAY BEYOND? PLAY BEYOND YOUR HOUSE!!!

The Sega Nomad and the TG Express both played console games. They could even be hooked into a television still, they are not consoles they R handhelds.
