GTAIV delayed until 2008's second quarter
There has been no word of what this means for the episodic content under development for the 360 version of the game, as it was initially scheduled for a second quarter release in 2008. While we are saddened that we won't be experiencing Rockstar North's grand opus this holiday, our wallets definitely feel the pressure being lifted, if only slightly. We'll have to wait and see how this affects Microsoft's projected game sales this holiday, as 2004 may still remain top dog with the absence of GTAIV in October.

Man, I feel like I just got hit in the balls. I'm disappointed, but there are some many great games coming out this fall that the wait won't be that bad.

Why does Rockstar (And Take Two) need a whole YEAR to finish this game? Second quarter 2008....what a suck.

Knuckles referred to the largest Holiday gaming sales numbers, and they took place in 2004. This year is poised to beat those records, but with the absence of GTA IV, can it still happen?

Boff: 2004 is correct. It had 75 mil in game sales, hasn't been beaten yet. Microsoft projected that with Halo 3, Madden 08 and GTAIV, 2007 might overtake it. Now we'll have to see.

tbh, I am a little miffed. I would prefer this over Halo 3. But I am really happy that Rockstar are not rushing this game and have taken the sensible route of delaying it and making it a fantastic experience.
Still got some great games this xmas though, nd that one less game enables me to play the others more.
Think though. Next year we have Splinter Cell Conviction and GTA IV. Already starting to be a good year!
At least Ocotber is free for PGR4!

Clearly the PS3 is the problem here as it's only been demoed on 360 so far. It's too bad we have to pay for R* need for a simultaneous release. We already know 360 is the "definitive GTA experience", so why delay.

FY Q2 2008, not Q2 2008. So, between the beginning of February and end of April, not between April and June, as Q2 would suggest.

It has been delayed to the fiscal second quarter of 2008. And, if I'm not mistaken, that is not the same as the 'normal' second quarter of 2008. The 2nd fiscal quarter ends in March.
So the release should be somewhere before april, no?

I'm disappointed that i wont be able to play this game until around 8-10 months from now, but, the line up until then is sik and will let me finish some of the games. I think PS3 got screwed here, cause it was their only blockbuster for the year. Unlike halo3, bioshock, masseffect

Another game falls victim to Halo 3's prowess. No doubt PART of this delay is due to Halo 3's release date being September 25th.

Yeah, come to think of it, some of you guys might be absolutely right. This hurts Sony more than it hurts us Xbox fanboys. They have very little to eat this Holiday season, while we have a Thanksgiving feast in store. Their Unreal Tournament is a meal, but to us it'll be a dessert.
It sucks duck sauce that we won't be in Liberty City this October, but yeah...I guess it'll be less of a distraction from Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4, plus more to look forward to in 2008.
Guess the Microsoft press briefing WASN'T just 2007 releases after all!
(Also makes sense why there were no new videos at E3.)

Well...I seem to recall GameTrailers mentioning that the GTA IV build/demo they saw at E3 "looked pretty rough" with plenty of work to be done. So I'm not terribly surprised.

The 360 has a 10 to 11 million greater install base vs the ps3, so even though alot of those games are comming to the ps3, the majority of those games sales and profits will be from the 360 side of things nomatter how U look at it.
Lets take Guitar Hero 3 f4 example.....
If every ps3 owner out there some how purchased GH3 well that would be around 1.5 million copies sold.
Where as if only half of the 360 owners purchased GH3, MS will chalk up nearly 6 times the profit that sony dose. This will be true with all the games comming out on both consoles. Nomatter what, no copy on the PS3 will out sell its counter part on the 360, not even close.
The user base just isn't there yet.
On topic.
Man this really sucks. My perfect fall lineup continues to shrink by the day. Ur gonna C preorders on this game drop big time. On the plus side most of those will more than likley find thier way over to Mass Effect.
I am almost sure R* did this to have a better shot at getting the Game of the Year Award. Not wanting to compete with Halo 3 and Mass Effect. Heh, and 4 the record, Halo 3 is gonna break all kinds of crazy sales records and is no doubt gonna get good ratings but is in no way shape or form guarenteed to be game of the year over Mass Effect. Keep in mind Halo 3 at best will be a 15 hour campaign game where as ME will likley be over 50 hours long and U know Ur gonna wanna do it good and then bad, or vice versa.

I really don't think it's a big deal. There's so much else coming out. It automatically makes 2008 way more interesting for both consoles, particularly MS since they've barely talked about their plans for the year.
I mean, hell, I even plan on buying a PS2 game (Persona 3)... I gotta save money somewhere.

gametrailers had a video called worst things on E3 2007 where GTA4 was the winner.
Some reporter managed to be invited behind cloosed doors to se som GTA4 action.
In the video they said that the game looked terrible and it looked like they had a long way to go before it looked done. So this just confirms that it was true, the game is far from complete and is far from coplete, That might also explain why we did not see any gameplay footage at E3 this year.

Can't say I'm bothered. This game is so over hyped and over rated. It looks like the same as the others with better graphics and it all gets rather boring pretty quickly. The original 2D version was more fun. I'd rather have Halo 3 and Crysis any day of the week.

heavy hitters in 08 dumass i wouldnt include thoughs plus its already known dumass i really do hope every 360 user buys 20 games they wont be able to finish and same goes for ps3 gamers. Everytime the 360 gets something taken down the list for this fall and holiday season its like O yeah thats ok there just going to get overshadowed BY HALO 3 and Mass Effect. When they get one added every single fanboy crawls from every little hole who would of thought Ace Combat would get more love than Unreal tournament III there both timed exclusives. if console that had over 100 million (PS2) users is gonna be beaten buy a console with only 11 million im telling you aint beating anything but one record for the most sold in 48 hours that might be HALO3 the reason why almost 60% of all 360 owners bought it for one game, you didnt care about Gears or Mass. the only records there gonna break is there own personal best ill be laughing when they come out with that announcment and also change there HDD policy. i dont bash people have gotten ral arrogant lately boasting there sales liek there doing a lot better than the PS3 the 360 sales should be past 12 million seeing that there was no competition did 360 go agianst the wii and cheaper competitor but yet they rise. getting fed by MS lies not that Sony doesnt lie too. Only one RPG will sell and thats mass effect Blue Dragon will sell in Japan like MS wanted. PS2 still continues to stomp out both the PS3 and 360 tell em this when they start recognising games that they love and variety they grown to love how many people do you think will come back to sony. Im not buying another 360 until admits the problems in the 360 and extend the warrenty to disce errors or scratching it doesnt just have one problem it has multiple overheating, problems with the power supply, reading errors, scratching discs, but when you claimed anything other than a red ring you must of abused it or just pay.
