Joystiq interviews Team Ninja's Tomonobu Itagaki

The fine folks at Joystiq recently got a chance to sit down with Dead or Alive creator and snappy dresser, Tomonobu Itagaki. During their chat, Joystiq had a chance to ask Itagaki a few questions about upcoming projects, reviews of Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, and what he thinks about the current crop of consoles. We won't spoil the whole interview for you, but, as Xbox 360 fanboys, we would be remiss if we didn't tell you that he prefers the Xbox 360. This guy is a joke. They got sega's model series technology and have been using it as thier primary source of Tecmos' bread and butter for nearly the last decade. Guess what, the engine is REALLY dated and despite some attention to detail, this series graffically hasn't changed much at all since DOA2 on the Dreamcast, Pathetic. This game is the "Fred Durst" of fighting games and almost single handedly destroyed the genre. Not to mention that TEKKEN way blows this game away in terms of the skill it takes to play it. Tekken has a couple scrub characters(Eddie Gordo/Christie Yamaguchi)that U can just hit buttons and make some magic happen. Basically every character in the DOA series is this type of magic character. It relies way too heavly on flash and showmen ship rather than execution.
And whats the deal with this wierdo, everytime I C him he has those dumbass glasses on? I bet its to hide the shame in his eyes he has for all the naughty things he shouldn't have done in his life.
Either that or he actually thinks some crazy shit like we are not worthy to be viewed by his eyes directly. Either way...LMAO!

whilst i respect the work of team ninja, they're hardly ground breaking as a developer. always in that dead or alive comfort zone.

Has nobody here ever played Ninja Gaiden? That game's graphics were beyond almost every other game on the Xbox. Plus the gameplay was amazing, easily one of the top 15 games on the Xbox. Sure DOA is a little tired but you can't base your opinion of Team Ninja on just DOA.

It's funny, he's easily the most pretentious and obnoxious personality in the games industry yet he's got this game god reputation. Why? The only decent game he or his studio has put out has been Ninja Gaiden (and maybe MAYBE DoA depending on your stance). So where's the attitude coming from?
I mean, I could accept this from Miyamoto or Kojima because they've proven themselves. This guy though needs to realize he has to lose his training wheels before riding with the big boys.

you bellends! this guy is responsible for the greatest game on the planet...ninja mafakin gaiden!! ninja gaiden is the equivalent of syringe full of heroine for gamers. you guys dont know true gaming until you beat this game. its not for pansies.
