Quake Arena announced for XBLA
Yesterday, Id Software made an announcement from the comforts of QuakeCon confirming that Quake Arena is being developed for the Xbox Live Arcade. A release date wasn't announced nor any other details were talked about other than the fact that Pi Studios was working on the port.So fanboys, you already have your Arcade Doom and it'll only be a while until you have your Quake too ... you're so spoiled.

This is totally fucking awesome... Not to mention all the id Software games on Steam; now all we need is the first 2 Quakes as well- along with all expansions... :D

Man, remember this popped up on some ratings site like months ago? I'm glad it was finally announced, fucking awesome.
@3 - No one is making you buy it. Keep playing the PC version; there's still plenty of people playing it.

I tell ya what I'd like? Heretic or Hexxen. Those'd be fun to get Achievements with!
(Then again, I'd also like Diablo on my 360, but that's another story...)

quite possibly my only true love. best news i've heard in a while. okay, so that's quite a huge stretch, but i think a "fuck yeah" is still in order.
Zeus the God @ Aug 4th 2007 5:46PM
Old school fraggin'? Fuck Quake 3 then, lets go for Quake. >:D
RoboJoel @ Aug 4th 2007 6:46PM
It was listed on ESRB as "Team Arena" though... hmmm. I hoping it includes Team Arena's content. There were some great BIG maps, and the expanded game-types were fun. They gave us Ultimate DOOM and called it DOOM, maybe they are just calling Team Arena, Arena.

I almost can't believe this story.
Is this Quake 3 Arena? The article just said Quake Arena.
This is amazing news, however, if PI studios fails to put in programming for compatability with a KB and mouse this game is worthless.
ccc @ Aug 4th 2007 8:00PM
nm i got the answer i needed from 1up

Can't believe people are truly excited about Quake Arena (whether it's Q3 Arena or Quake Arena or just plain Quake) id software got their ass handed to them on a silver platter by Epic's Unreal and especially Unreal Tournament (UT). That is the game I look forward to seeing on XBLA. Not some washed up over polygonamated has been series. UT had it all... five awesome games in one that's right count them 5 (Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Domination, and Assault) FUCK QUAKE...

Heh, an old rivaly indeed.
I love both series but hands down Quake 3 takes WAY more skill to play and be good at than all the Unreal games put together. Last I checked there wasnt a thing called unrealcon is there? DO they give hundreds of thousands of dollars to the worlds best UT player each year? No, know Y? Cause Ut has always been more a just for fun kind of game. I'll admit they are fun as hell but Quake, well Quake is more like work. Like I said, I love both and either put Halo to shame in terms of skill.
colin @ Aug 5th 2007 5:20AM
i don't know ccc, i remember being excellent at q3a, but i'm only an incredibly decent online halo player. probably has a lot to do with the huge rise of online gaming in recent years ... and that trueskill thing ;)
ccc @ Aug 5th 2007 11:34AM

Everything in Halo moves really slow compared to Quake and unreal its super easy. Same with sniping. I can snipe kids heads off with ease in Halo however, Railing some1 that is moving 90 mph is much more difficult. If U wernt any good at halo try picking up the sword or the shot gun, or how about the 1 hit kill rocket launcher. As far as ur skillz in quake, what name did U go by? And what name do U go by. We will C how good U are @quake 3.
Trueskill is ass and ultimatly your being matched up with a bunch of little kids.
colin @ Aug 5th 2007 8:12PM
i think i went by the name ixion on q3a, and i think i was a yellow skeleton. but that was a long time ago, i don't play anymore. maybe its just nostalgia's tint, but i remember being pretty good at it. then again, i only played two levels over and over. the ones in space with the jump pads.
don't get me wrong, i was in high school and didn't compete or anything.
i wasn't "the man"... i didn't get "carpal tunnel syndrome"... i "took showers daily"... i "wore deodorant products"... i didn't "eat my own scabs"... and i didn't live at a LAN Lounge down by the river.
