Ouch, the Legendary tattoo is back

Way back in December of aught-six we ran a story about a man known only as GothicSlayer, a man who decided to adorn his back with a legendary tattoo ... literally. Yes, as you can see above, he chose to have the Legendary difficulty icon from Halo -- with its (appropriately) iconic shield, swords, and Elite skull -- permanently etched into his back. It looks like he's gotten the cash to complete the second phase of his tattoo, as the Elite skull is now fully shaded, and looking much more impressive if we do say so. GothicSlayer informs us that the redness of the tattoo is the result of irritation, so it will most likely fade to a more artsy black and white affair over time.
If anyone else out their has an Xbox related tattoo, please don't hesitate to share it with us.

Hey might want to think about hitting the gym and tightening up that back of his.
Not that having a commercial logo tattooed into your skin is all that "cool" in the first place but I'm sure he really doesn't want to stay soft or get fat as he gets old with that on his back.
God, I hope we get to see a picture of that in 40 years or so.
ymmv @ Aug 10th 2007 2:40PM
Wow, it must be so great to have a wonderful piece of art on your back that took a year to make and you'll never be able to see it yourself or thru a mirror, but only on photographs.
Idiots.
ridestowe @ Aug 10th 2007 2:42PM
that is the stupidest thing i have ever seen. ever.
TORO @ Aug 10th 2007 2:42PM
Now that I think about the Legendary symbol, I wonder why they opted to go with those swords instead of the Energy Sword.
thisguyrighthere @ Aug 10th 2007 2:45PM
He doesnt look very fit from the back and now that Ive stared in disbelief for a few minutes he's also pretty pasty and cracker white. I bet he has little man-boobs in the front. You think he'll ever walk on a beach shirtless? Who will see this thing? Will he see these posts and cry? I hope so.
ryan @ Aug 10th 2007 2:53PM
hmm...was the refrigerator light needed to enhance the shot, or was this a glimpse of a sad gamer loose in his native habitat?
Chester Cheetah @ Aug 10th 2007 2:59PM
Screw it, dudes showin sum love to something he's really into. Let him have his fun!
poprocker @ Aug 10th 2007 3:07PM

fyreblazer @ Aug 10th 2007 3:18PM
I can tell you from personal experience that getting a full back tattoo is probably the worse physical pain I've ever felt in my life. Props to Gothic for going through all of that.
Toph @ Aug 10th 2007 4:03PM
This tells me two things about this gamer:
1. He's a dedicated gamer
2. He's a dedicated bachelor
DjDATZ @ Aug 10th 2007 4:05PM
Thats just gay. Good luck getting laid.
Mike-453 @ Aug 10th 2007 4:29PM
"Good luck getting laid"
It's a shame we have to resort to saying things like that, as if chicks are a seperate species that are incompatible with any interests guys have, oh wait, they are! (i kid, mostly)
bigmac375 @ Aug 10th 2007 5:10PM

FreeLono @ Aug 10th 2007 5:08PM

i love coochi so much i got it tattooed on my back also...just goes to show, if you love something enough...well get it tattooed big enough on your body.
Tim @ Aug 10th 2007 5:46PM
Well, I'm not into getting something permanent that refers to something that you'll have to explain what it is 10 years from now, but I have to give props to the guy for going through with it and showing his love.
I wonder how many of those criticizing his choice on here have the balls to get anything inked on themselves...
EMaster @ Aug 10th 2007 6:16PM
@ Tim
It has nothing to do with Balls. It has to do with the fact that loving osmething is great bu tot dedicate your entire back to it is stupid. I Myself Train in Shotokan Karate and I Love Street fighter, specifically Akuma.. and Contemplated a few years ago to get the Kanji "Ten" (Heaven in English) on my Back just like Akuma has but then I though showing my love for something fictional as well as martial arts (in this case kinda) can be expressed differently than getting a Tat.
I really do not see anything wron with getting inked with soemthing game related i mean if it is small like upo to 5 inches in width I think that is acceptable but not your whole entire back cause like someone said above, the only way to get the most out of it is to walk around with your shirt off all the time and plus you can't cause you can't see it yourself without a mirror or pics.
Again, it has nothing to do with balls but rather having a better sense of judgment when getting inked for life.
Akbar @ Aug 11th 2007 12:32AM
Hey, I know this guy from work.
bookie @ Aug 11th 2007 2:50AM
You obviously aren't exposed to women to often ... because you wouldn't know one if it turned around and showed her back to you.
People - the dude is a chick.
sock merchant @ Aug 11th 2007 8:48AM
I see a pudgy white boy
Brett Sterling @ Aug 11th 2007 11:36PM
Looks great but I personally would get something that was more meaning full.
Elric @ Aug 11th 2007 2:51PM
she might be a female... but she's certainly not a "chick"......
toonces @ Aug 11th 2007 8:44PM
GET A TAN!!!!
ccc @ Aug 11th 2007 11:01PM
What a fucking idiot.
Tim @ Aug 12th 2007 10:59PM
@ Emaster
Ok, perhaps 'balls' was a bit too strong. I see your point. I don't think dedicating your entire back to something is necessarily stupid if its a worthy subject. The question is, 'Is Halo worthy of my entire back for the rest of my life?'. Perhaps not for me or you, but apparently it is for Mr. GothicSlayer.
And tattoos don't have to be on display for others to get the most out of them. Mine are out of sight and I prefer to keep them that way. I don't have to see them to know they are there and be pleased with them.
Boff @ Aug 13th 2007 7:29AM
@20: Yes but that is your opinion. Just because *you* think any (game-related) tattoo over 5 inches would be stupid doesn't mean that how it is.
Different strokes for different folks.
And I was gonna have Akuma's kanji aswell! But only a small one on my back. (But bigger than 5 inches heh he!)
But that Halo tattoo is very impressive. Even if you've never heard of Halo you can appreciated a quality piece of work.
The shield looks unfinished thugh.
