Bungie details H3 flamethrower and firebomb

Bungie.net has posted some new detailed descriptions of both the flamethrower and firebomb from Halo 3. The item descriptions are similar to the previous item profiles hosted by Bungie.net and include technical specifications and quotes from soldiers on the field. The flamethrower (designation M7057 / Defoliant Projector), it seems, was technically designed to clear land of foliage for military operations. The entry adds that using the flamethrower as a weapon can cause psychological damage (or perhaps requires it). The description also contains a spiffy Quicktime VR of the flamethrower in action. We also learn that the firebomb (designation Type-3 Antipersonnel / Antimateriel Incendiary Grenade) is actually a Brute weapon that has been adopted for use by the UNSC. An interesting note, the entry mentions that the firebomb burns very brightly and should not be viewed directly. Whether or not this translates to actual gameplay remains to be seen.

Also, commenting needs to be revamped. It's super annoying having to confirm my comment every time. The "current users" thing is completely pointless. I just type a random pw every time and it doesn't seem to matter.

it's cool, but how you just run through them or jump over them?

I mean running throug them probably takes your shield down significantly, standing in it probably kills you, but how about jumping over them? how high will flames be?

anyone else wondering why this would hurt a spartan? i mean the suit can stand spaces extreme temps, why not flame? and as for the frebomb bein a grenade, its 8 pounds. 8 POUNDS WTF!!!!

WEll...

Same reason Plasma hurts a spartan. It burns, and it can burn the metal Spartan armor is made out of, and it probably boils the balistic gel they have underneath.

spartans and elites carry missle pods and rocket launchers all the time, so an 8 pound grenade isn't too far fetched.

ever lift weights? 8 lbs isn't all that much.

oh and this info was on ign already along with the quotes. they took it from bungie's site so i really don't see the need for this thread. just pushing the Halo hype more which is fine by me. but still...kinda redundant.
