Xbox.com lists COD4 beta for today, already being played

If you've been hankering for you shot at the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta, your wait may be at an end. First of all, the beta has been spotted on the official Xbox Live Maretplace ticker. What's more, the listing declares that the beta is due to come out today. If you prefer a little more proof than an Xbox.com listing (and we wouldn't blame you if you do), Robert Bowling (GT: fourzerotwo), a community manager for Infinity Ward, was playing the beta at the time of this posting. We haven't received any sort of notification from CharlieOscarDelta.com, so we're assuming the beta hasn't started just yet. Still, if Infinity Ward is on Live testing the beta, it can't be too long, can it? Check out a screen cap of Bowling's gamercard after the break.

This means the beta on the live server and has finished certification....its just hidden from the public...now IW jus has to distribute the tokens to download it!

Hmmmm, reminds me of when a certain map pack (Bravo) was supposed to be out for COD3. Sure, it said it was available on the xbox.com web site, but go in for the download, and no no no.

Ok, what you people are NOT understanding is that yes, the BETA IS ON MARKETPLACE live and playable right now. However, IN ORDER TO ACCESS IT you need a token from Charlie Oscar Delta. FOR THAT you must wait for site update and you have to answer 3 questions correctly and it is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. If you don't get a token you don't get to play.

@18 Actually, I'm quite aware of that. when did I say otherwise? I was referring to the link on their site as no go. It says, "Enter Now!" and when you put your mouse over it, changes to "Coming Soon!"

@21 Everyone is trying to access it for the tokens because the rumor on the internetz says its on Live. Like our buddy Stump-or-other said, the tokens will be distributed from that website, then you'll be able to somehow unlock the beta on Live.

I just registered for CharlieOscarDelta.com but I'm unab;lle to confirm my email - I keep getting fatal error messages when it tries to send the email.

They better have a lot of tokens...

@23 Andre, I had that trouble several days ago as well. Keep trying, and eventually it will go through. And yes, I hope there are several tokens available as well. Would be a bummer to only have 100 people online. My guess would be a couple thousand tokens. But, I don't know crap. -Cheers

This is BS. I had a thread going that suggested they send out e-mails with the token codes to registered users...they deleted the thread even though 500 people had voted.

Oh, and to make things worse, there is a great possibility that people will get in who registered less than 24 hours after the beta has gone live. (no offense #23)

SynGamer, I agree with you as well (again no offense to #23). However, it doesn't seem very logical in the long run. They want to keep the traffic and hype up, and if everyone knew it was already too late for them - chances are that could ruin the fun.

I dunno, all these questions will fade along with the hysteria. I hope you get a token - as well as me. I will be awfully bummed not to - though I should find other ways to waste my time this weekend. Ahhhh, and I have to work tomorrow. Barf.

I don't like halo and when did I become hateful? I wasn't even referring to you I don't think. I read about 3 or 4 different posts saying that "its not on marketplace I cant find it!"

I was simply pointing out that it will NEVER be on marketplace for anyone to download so stop looking, how is this hateful? Show me hateful.

I am just trying to save people time and effort who think it is going to show up there and they can download it.

For those who don't know, unlike our extremely intelligent halo fan Jon, the beta is available to ANYONE who goes to charlieoscardelta.com and registers with their email address. When the beta is available, you simply answer some questions, assuming you get them right you will get into the beta. Keep in mind that it is first come first serve so if you don't get there "fast" enough you may not get in.

Anyways Jon, you show me where I referred to you in my post, because I know for a fact that I didn't. So instead of coming on here assuming that I am speaking to you, read my post and understand that I was talking to everyone interested to know who might not know already unlike you, because you know it all. When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.

It's kinda funny, everyone is on their MB's trying to figure out who knows what, when realistically nobody knows anything. Like I said, this is an ongoing trend (twice anyway) with Activision games. You have your Bravo pack showing as available on Xbox.com, even though you couldnt download it for another two weeks, and now you have this. Its a good way to stir up rumors, and get exactly the reaction they are getting at COD.com (see 23).
