CoD 4 Beta: The countdown has begun

If you missed out on or just didn't win the email entry lottery into the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Beta then this Monday will be your second chance to get in on the beta fun. As promised, Infinity Ward will be opening up the flood gates into the CoD 4 multiplayer beta by offering entry tokens on a first come, first serve basis. When and where exactly can you get these entry tokens? Monday, August 27th at Noon pacific at the CoD 4 Beta website are the answers you seek. And, because they love to build hype and want to make it more convenient, Infinity Ward has placed a countdown clock on their website counting down the seconds until the second wave of the beta opens up. There you have it, this Monday at noon ... let's crash those servers and get into the beta fanboys!

Is anyone else getting the problem with signing up and not receiving a email to confirm your memebership, i clicked many times to have the email resent and never got on, checked my spam folder numerous times.

And yet the countdown clock on my computer is set to expire at Noon Monday CST.
My friend in Atlantas is set to expire Noon Monday EST.

Anyone else confirm the time zone/ countdown timer difference based on their geography?

Logged on just for fun (from the UK) and the countdown's set to end Monday 1200 GMT.

Maybe it just picks up the user's local time then?

Its just tied to the clock on your computer if you move your computers clock up 4 days it says 0 0 0. so who knows what time it will hit

Ok the countdown says 3days 20hrs 17mins and right now it's Thursday 3:43pm GMT.

No it is right cos if it was 3day 24hrs that would be 4pm Monday.

Well maybe thats how they are going to keep the thing from crashing then? Waves ala East coast to West coast? So you can't access the page until your timer in your time zone reaches zero? That would be smart. It'll still crash, but that would be smart.

their servers have been crashed for over a week. myself and some of my friends registered with the site and none of us have received a confirmation e-mail. even after several attempts to have it resent and sending e-mails thru their "help" section.

I got to say. I was super hyped on this game but this beta business is making me want it less and less. They should have had you sign up for the beta and just make a public event on when the email invites would be sent out for each wave. This would spare us the ridiculous server crashes and frustration. It would garner good will and get better press then stories about server crashes.

dude i agree with u 100% this is total bullshit having to answering questions and delaing with server crashes.. Just have us enter out email adree and hand out a certain amount of tokens at a time..WTF is soo difficult about that. By now i dont even care if i get in!

Seems to me that none of the beta methods has made people happy really. This method is lame, but the way Sony handled Home and Warhawk made a lot of folks mad too. (More so with Home of course - people cried for weeks about how their life wouldn't be worth living cause they didn't get in the beta. I am not at all kidding.)

Would be best to just do one signup method and then phase people in - some will be pissed, but at least it would go smooth and let us get back to our other duties.

jdkay...they said they would slowly raise the level cap as the beta progresses.

Its kinda funny watching people bitch, moan and complain about signing up for the site. I signed up with the site within a day of it going live...or within minutes of the beta being announced (can't remember which one) and i didn't have a problem with it.

I was there at quarter to 8 (my time) and the question went live about 10 mins before 8...so i got an early drop and looked around for the answers...and at 8:49 sent my correct answers off. Guess what i got at 2:48 am? an invite to the beta.

Now just to get my console back from MS...Pulled strings for that today, and I'm hoping it ships today or tomorrow.

Well the thing is, unless they ran out of codes (which they might have and then this really doesn't apply), it wasn't very hard to get in. You just had to look around a bit and not even on the COD4 site. You didn't even NEED a username on CharlieOscarDelta.com.
