CoD 4 beta opens up to all who signed up

If you signed up for the second wave of entry into the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer beta then boy oh boy do we have got great news for you.

As planned, Infinity Ward closed down the extended entry into the CoD 4 beta last night and prepared to send out entry tokens to a select random few. But soon after the sign up closed down we were informed of their new beta plans. Over on Fourzerotwo's blog he announced that, in an effort to apologize to the community for the last few days of craziness, Infinity Ward will be awarding CoD 4 multiplayer beta tokens to EVERY person who signed up. That's right, if you signed up for entry into the beta you are guaranteed a beta download token. Heck, your token could be sitting in your inbox right now. Fourzerotwo says that they'll be sending out beta tokens throughout the next few days, staggering the emails out a little bit so they can slowly ramp up the amount of beta participants. So, if you signed up and still haven't received your beta token, just be patient. You'll get it soon'ish. Oh, and Infinity Ward, we just want to say that you guys rock!

raaaad, I was actually not planning on signing up thinking that it would be pointless since i NEVER get chosen for these types of things... I'm sure glad i decided to go for it.

I have a question for people that got the token. Did you receive a "Congratulations" email first, then the token in a separate email later or just the token in one email altogether?

You should really READ fourzerotwo's blog...it clearly says tokens will be sent out over the next few days, not all at once!!

Anyhow, so they have basicaly let nearly every US 360 owner into the beta, what about everybody else? Will we only get a few days to play, or will we have a first come first serve opportunity or lotto?

Once again, we are being robbed, not only do we have to wait longer for the beta, with no guarantee we will get in, but we will end up paying £39 ($80) for the full game!!

I'm glad I signed up last night but I'm afraid I am not going to receive and e-mail from them because I had two accounts for the site. and for my first account I enter the right address and I have not received a validation e-mail from them (yes I have checked the junk e-mail) And when I made a new account I used a different e-mail address, And I still have now received a validation e-mail from them on that one. But for some reason it let me sign up for the Beta still.

@1, @5. Yea I played with a guy from outside the US yesterday. His connection was perfect (he was the host) everyone else who connected lagged out. SO he was 38k 5d, while everyone else left in frustration. Let me tell ya, that was really a lot of fun

I think I signed up yesterday...I put in my gamertag and my email address associated with my account and hit submit but was brought back to that same page with no info in it. I didn't get an email confirming that I signed up or anything.

Does that mean I didn't sign up properly or did this happen to everyone and I have to just wait? Thanks.

SO i had to post this cause it just made me laugh. After 3 weeks of attempting to sign up for COD.com i got my confirmation email this morn so i can now sign up for the beta that is over......well atleast they changed the process and i am hopefully waiting on a token through the revised beta sign up, but wow thats some lag on there side for sending out there e-mails

yeah i had the same problem with the page just reloadign after i put in my GT and email.THe fix was not using CAPS.. yeah i know that sounds dumb but everytime i used CAPS on my gamertag or email it wouldnt load.

Once i took off CAPS it loaded and went to the confirmation page right away.

My brother is the one that has his credit card and his name and his email for the gamertag, but I use that gamertag too. He was too lazy to sign up so I signed up with a different email other than the one xbox live is registered too. When i signed up for beta I still put my gamertag and no problems appeared. So will I get into beta?

@Neeko (#24) Email addresses shouldn't be in capitals anyway. And common sense would tell me to enter my Gamertag exactly as it is on live. (Mine's all lowercase anyway.)

Not having a go, just saying.

But I thought the email address in lowercase was a no-brainer.

Still, this doesn't beat getting Halo 3 Friends and Family Beta on my birthday. The Same day I bought $500 in gaming stuff, saw Spider-Man 3, and got incredibly lucky in a card game. That day was amazing. May 11, 2007.

It would have been better if they had just sent them all out, but not told anyone for a few days, so the ramp up would be staggered by how many people checked their email. But what do I care, I got my token, weeeeeeeee silenced AK, weeeeeeee.

Well I've had a few games now and I'm loving it. Still haven't sussed it all out yet but getting there!

I've had hardly any lag issues either!

I just played my first game against a european (A brit to be specific) and my opinion of international players in this beta has flipped. Before, I was all for them getting in (just like how I'm all for US citizens and euro citizens getting Japanese demo's and vice-versa) but after having played a laggy, horrible game versus a brit host, I have changed my position from for to against (them getting in).

Europeans might have (arguably, tied with Asia atleast) the best connections in the world, but that doesn't mean jack **** when you factor in latency (The time it takes for my packets to get to his host machine for it to register). So seriously, international players, if you must play with us, atleast you could be considerate enough not to be the damn host. This kinda goes for all live enabled games, and shows why country filtering is necessary =/

I understand CAPS arent needed in the email adr. I was just stating what worked for me. With all the problems IW was having with there site. Wouldnt it be reasonable to believe that somehow that couldve been a quirk in their sign up form?

I know its weird but after trying for 10minutes to get past that page then only changing it to NONCAPS and it working i could only ASSUME that was the problem.

i know that dumb and basic but thats what i came up with.
