Unofficial Halo 3 Epsilon player banned til year 10000? [update]
[Update: It looks like Scar was banned merely for having the epsilon. Apparently the epsilon was leaked to many more people than intended, resulting in many bannings, including Scar. You can read what is allegedly Scar's response on Xboxic here.]Remember all the lovely Halo 3 epsilon leakage that began a few weeks ago? Many people were quick to point out that the epsilon players leaking the footage would soon find themselves banned from Xbox Live. It looks like that was definitely the case, as a person with the gamertag "Scar" can definitely attest. As you can see in the image at right, Scar has been banned for a considerable amount of time, until December 31st, 9999 to be specific. We hate to seem redundant, but that is one hell of a ban. This guy won't be playing Xbox Live until the year 10,000. Honestly, if the Xbox 360 is still around by then, we will be mightily impressed (and also probably dead).
Our condolences Scar. Hopefully you'll feel better when Halo 3 comes out and you can play some 4-player co-op on Xbox Li... ooh, sorry.

Wow, it's like he got sentenced to life in prison, on three counts of dumbass.
TORO @ Sep 7th 2007 12:47PM
Epsilon was only available to a select few right? Guess Scar couldn't help himself lol
I'm assumming that no one has the guts to accidentally release Halo early (aka Bioschock)...what do you think Bungie/M$ would do?
DjDATZ @ Sep 7th 2007 12:51PM

That's gonna be one sweet new year's eve, tho.
AFAI @ Sep 7th 2007 1:09PM
All he has to do is make a new account, not really that big of a deal.
Chappy @ Sep 7th 2007 1:11PM
To be clear, Scar is not a Microsoft Employee who leaked Halo Epsilon footage. He may not have leaked any footage at all, but he did have access to Epsilon. The son of a Microsoft Employee with access to Epsilon had his Live account information stolen. The thieves then used the download history hack (the same one used to steal COD4 betas) to download Epsilon to their own accounts. Scar is one of the people who used the stolen account information to download Epsilon, or gave his account information to someone to be recovered by someone who did. It took about a day for Microsoft to ban his account and xbox from the time he played Epsilon while connected to Live. From Scar himself:
"im sure you read the story where a woman that works at MS got he son the epsilon then a couple guys stole his account and did the second profile glitch to get the beta off him, well they let some people do it then it blossomed into a good 100 people glitching into it, and i was one of them"
"i got this from a friend that got it from another friend and so on... finally leading back to the kid which i didnt find out about until after i got it downloaded"
The worst part is that Scar is "17 and my job is fixing 360s". Given his behavior, I've no doubt he'll resell his banned console to some poor soul who will not be allowed to connect to live.

Scar does *not* have my condolences, I'm very happy Microsoft is drawing a firm line. Whether or not he was involved with the original account theft, he obviously acquired Epsilon without permission. I sincerely hope all modders and cheaters suffer the same fate once Halo 3 is released. Now I'm not saying Scar is a modder or a cheater, but he's displayed a similar mindset (i.e. the ability to take an action justifies that action regardless of the consequences).
Trashman @ Sep 7th 2007 1:17PM
Im sure there is a way for him to get back on. It will take a lot of apologies though

I need to get Cryogenicly frozen and come back in the year 10,000... See what new drug habits mankind has picked up and party like a rockstar...
Low- @ Sep 7th 2007 1:30PM
He is already playing on live again though. = /
He posted in another forum he has 2 360's and his job is actually fixing 360's. So the Console and gamertag is banned but he has made a new one and is using his other console.
poprocker @ Sep 7th 2007 1:32PM
wow...all that gamerscore wasted now. lmao!
gronar @ Sep 7th 2007 1:37PM
Ban his other account too, MS.
Anticrawl @ Sep 7th 2007 1:43PM
No when you are banned on the 360, they ban your MAC ID address, that means your console will never feel the warmth of online again. He'll need to buy a new console and make a new account.
jtenma @ Sep 7th 2007 1:48PM
Since no one else is going to say it, I will....
ITS OVER NINE-THOUSSSANNNDDD!!!!!!!!!!
CyberKnight @ Sep 7th 2007 1:58PM
The really bad thing is, the 360 has the Y10k bug, so when the date rolls over to 1/1/10000, his console will think it's 1/1/0000, and he'll still be banned.
Bummer.
J.W. @ Sep 7th 2007 1:59PM
Here's an update on Scar: He had a gamerscore of over 61,000.
Bazza @ Sep 7th 2007 2:19PM
By the time we would have real Spartans roaming Earth 2.
RC @ Sep 16th 2007 8:46AM
This is wrong news. I know Scar and he is not a Microsoft or Bungie employee, and was not the one to leak the Epsilon to the public. He was also not the person who had the live feed of the Epsilon on the internet. First off, he got it from someone else (who is also banned). As for the person who gave it to Scar, I do not know how he got it, and I don't think anyone else knows.
There aren't a lot of people who know who the other person is. Mainly because this whole leaked Epsilon thing wasn't known until these bannings occurred. I suggest you edit your story since it is incorrect.
And don't ask me for the name of the person who gave it to Scar, I'm not bringing someone else into this.
Little Lee @ Sep 7th 2007 2:34PM
Isn't Live a microsoft service? So it will continue past the 360 on to the next console?
Philip Carson @ Sep 7th 2007 2:49PM
It's a shame that a huge 360 site like this is stupid enough to release this false info.
Scar is a good friend of mine. He did not have anything to do with stealing the kid's account,or leaking it, whatever you idiots say.
He got it from a guy, who got it from a guy, who got it from a guy. Yes, I know the whole chain, I'm not saying any names.
All you stupid noobs are mad because he got to play it, and you would take it in the ass to play it.
And the year "9999" banning is not true. The longest a gamertag can be banned for is a month. Call MS and ask yourself.
So all I have to say, is "Get owned." Get your facts straight, idiots.

Chief @ Sep 7th 2007 4:36PM
....if you do you will get banned like the thousands on Halo 3 and the 23,000 on COD 4 don;t glitch betas!

Scar'd 4 Life! lolololol...swordswordsword...

AFAI says :"All he has to do is make a new account, not really that big of a deal."
Not true. A ban that goes into effect is based on the consoles serial #, Xbox Live Account, etc. His current box will not be able to get one even if he changes the account.
zourskittles @ Sep 7th 2007 5:06PM
He just just call em up and say hes gonna commit suicide for losing live and all his gamerscore, than they'll let him back for sure!
Jon @ Sep 7th 2007 5:28PM
Cant he just make a new Live ID and with a different credit card or something?

future kind: Oh you can emulate that ancient software on windows 10,000.
other future d00d:hehe i can emulate it on my great great greatx100 grandpa's windows 5,000.
Future kind: You still have that junk?
me:??? fuck this i'm going back to 2007 with Halo 3!!!!
Comedy Tree @ Sep 9th 2007 1:55AM
hahaha i wonder if he can sue microsoft in the future by giveing his xbox 360 to his kid and their kids and there kids intill the year 9999 and try see if they unban him and if they dont he can try to sue them and say my great great great great great grandfather from the year 2007 was banned from xbox live and promised to be unban in the year 9999 and i am not unban so i am suein for $9999999999999999999999999999 for 10,000 years of not being able to play halo 3 on xbox live lol
puhssy liquors @ Sep 11th 2007 4:07PM
Wow. The thing is he probably STILL has the epsilon and is playing the single player. Plus just checked Xbox.com and he was on an hour ago, meaning it's only the Xbox, not the gamertag that sbanned
sherman tovar @ Sep 18th 2007 12:58PM
thats just insane, seriously why would you risk that just to leak footage.
