Madden 08 gets a roster update
Just released yesterday in preparation for the first Sunday of NFL football action, EA released the second Madden NFL 08 roster update which should download the next time you play the game connected to Xbox Live. The roster update updates various teams' rosters (no, really?) and also switches up the overall rankings of a few players. You can view the complete roster changes that the update brings by downloading them from here (Word document) or by looking after the break. And after giving the new Madden 08 roster changes a look through we noticed that Michael Vick has been removed due to a suspension. We're wondering what he could have possibly done to be suspended from the NFL and Madden. Can anyone throw us a bone and help solve this mystery?

Throw you a bone? Classic? oh my goodness that is some clever wordplay!!!
Anonymous @ Sep 8th 2007 4:56PM
So by doing this it makes bringing out a new Madden game every year redundant?
UNSCleric @ Sep 8th 2007 5:00PM
Not funny to kid about dead dogs.
Sam @ Sep 8th 2007 5:12PM
And here i thought Madden 08 WAS a roster update.

Are you serious? -_-
Great job Dustin! You are one clever fella!
NukeAssault @ Sep 8th 2007 5:19PM
I didint know Madden did that... thats pretty cool.
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 8th 2007 5:42PM
Doggone it, I have no idea why.
pierce @ Sep 8th 2007 5:51PM
i'm surprised santonio holmes's rating didnt go down. don't get me wrong, i love the guy, but he's a sure catch, even more than ward who's a possession receiver... a little fishy if you ask me
nojok3 @ Sep 8th 2007 5:51PM
JP Losman is still one of the worst QBs in Madden and the Lions passing attack gets even better with Calvin Johnson improving? WTF?
I like the pun at the end!
dan vu @ Sep 8th 2007 5:59PM
To Xbox360fanboy...
Vick was suspended for taking part in dog fighting. He's also going to jail for a year or two, I forget.
John Williams @ Sep 8th 2007 6:16PM
Dan Vu,
That's what we call "sarcasm". Although I'm really annoyed at this because I'm a Falcon's fan, and while I would never condone the actions of Michael Vick, I still want to play with him in a game that I bought. Does anyone know if this roster update is manditory?
AFAI @ Sep 8th 2007 6:16PM
I'm glad Deangelo isn't a shutdown corner anymore, he's way overrated. He got burned by Chad Johnson and Steve Smith yet he still talks trash.
Shane @ Sep 17th 2007 4:15PM
@11
It's mandatory if you play online. However, it just saves the roster file separate from the default roster. So if you want to play with Vick, and everyone else on the default roster, just don't load the online roster when you play the game. I think you might also be able to play non-ranked online games without the roster update, but I’m not 100% sure.

Go Jags!
Dapper Dan @ Sep 8th 2007 10:22PM
i agree with UNSCleric, i love this site just as much as anyone but dead animal jokes are a bit much. although, i realize it was meant to be a jab at vick and not the end result of his actions. i seriously hope vick get murdered by a good ol' fashioned gang raping in jail. and anyone that supports dog fighting or animal cruelty can burn in hell too....
Slvrgun @ Sep 8th 2007 11:12PM

Slvrgun @ Sep 8th 2007 11:14PM
Go to jail for killing dogs that nobody wants. WTF. Meanwhile little Bobby is learning how to pit animals to the death in his new Pokemon game.

I hope the colts roster and stats were updated to reflect the utter curb-stomping that was Colts Vs. Saints on Thursday night.
blueGrassTubb @ Sep 9th 2007 12:32AM
The idea of "weapons" and the magical powers that they somehow bestow on gamers is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Seriously.
Long live the true console football simulator, ESPN NFL 2K5.
kidswithouteyes @ Sep 9th 2007 1:04AM
Im from the ATL area. The real reason he was kicked out of the nfl (suspended indefinitely)was he did in fact take part in dog fighting but it was the killing of the dogs that did him in. He took part in shooting and drowning weak dogs that couldnt hold up. So there is your answer. He is facing another court date on his sentencing which he faces a few years in prison. Enjoi

@Dapper Dan
No, let's never talk about the death of an animal but wishing harm and death on another human being is ok.
Gil @ Sep 9th 2007 8:25AM
Damn I'm surprised they didn't charge $60 for this update... they make you pay $60 every year for a roster update normally.
dan vu @ Sep 9th 2007 10:59AM
@ 11 and 15
read the 16th comment...thanks ejb..at least someone got it.
joemc72 @ Sep 9th 2007 11:20AM
John Williams: The roster update will be likely if you plan to play on Live. If you're playing offline, it's optional, but you'll get that annoying 'update' screen every time you start the game.
renatox @ Sep 9th 2007 11:20AM
wheres the REAL FOOTBALL info at??? FIFA 08 !!!!!!!!
Evan @ Sep 9th 2007 12:21PM
I know its supposed to be funny but it really isn't.
Vick and three accomplices killed dogs by electrocution and if that didn't work they drowned what was left of them. Nothing funny there. Not to mentioned they tortured these dogs into becoming fighting machines.
It is too bad, I was a huge Vick fan in the past. Not anymore, the man has some serious repenting to do.
C'mon X3F some things you just shouldn't touch.
Who Flang Poo @ Sep 9th 2007 1:19PM

@renatox
"REAL Football"?
You make me laugh.
fricken field ferry
FIFA sucks ass
so does soccer
American Football is a real sport.
Ryan @ Sep 9th 2007 6:40PM
@32Just proves thall all "American Football" fans are brain dead. You do realize that "football" is only popular in America. North America is the only place that calls football soccer. The rest of the world calls it football. And if you didn't know (which I doubt you do) soccer is the most popular sport in the world. While american football has the crappy Superbowl, soccer actually has a world cup. Next time don't say such stpid things.
renatox @ Sep 9th 2007 4:06PM
como on bro real sport? lol a real sport dont spot every 2 seconds and why do u call it football u dont use ur feet u use hand so it should be HANDball so yea lol THE REAL FOOTBALL IS AWESOME the best sport in the WHOLE WOLRD that y EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY PLAYS IT but ur handball thing only here so yea lol
Who Flang Poo @ Sep 9th 2007 6:08PM
If you think football is more of sport then "handball" yore retatred. Football-soccer is the most boring sport ever. There is barely anyone scoring, and every position does the same exact thing accept in a different area, accept for the keeper. Another thing is that it barley takes any skill. Its all one concept kick the ball too the other side of the field, and get it past the keeper. Anyone can get good at football-soccer all you have to do is practice youre foot work and thats it. The whole reason football is so popular is because it was around since acient times and has grown to peoples culture.
Real football takes way more skill and hard work. It has more of a variety of things to do and there are more ways to approach situations.
Football is way more stretigic and brutal then soccer-football. You always have to be on youre toes making sure you dont get hit, figure out the right thing to do, and be constantly dodgeing people. You have to be way more talanted to play football well compared to soccer. To play football well you need to be fast, strong, able to run long distances, powerful, catch while being attacked, able to constantly dodge people, take big dudes down, and in some cases throw far and accurately, or kick really long distances. You also have to constantly work out pretty much every muscle in youre body. Back when I played football we had to workout intensely year round. Back when I used to play soccer the only thing you needed to do is run and thats it only work on youre legs. Another thing is that football is so ridicously straigic. There are literally hundreds of plays, and you even have plays when youre on defence. You have to choose if you want to pass, run, and sometimes kick. No matter what each person plays an important roll in each play, unlike soccer the only time you do anything is when you have the ball.
Just face it football is better then soccer, and the only reason its popular is because it has been around for a while. Its no argument, well i gotta go so im not going to even try to argue with you even more. Im right youre wrong face it.
And stop posting on every article no one cares about youre crappy FIFA game they all suck face it. So yea bye.
BluesmanTLU @ Sep 9th 2007 7:27PM
Soccer is the most popular sport in the world... the third world, that is.
Kidding. Sort of.
renatox @ Sep 9th 2007 8:02PM
THANKS RYAN U DA SHIT LOL FOOTBALL the real one the one u actually use ur FEET to play with is the most popular and the BEST!!!!! in the whole world!!!! fuck ur handball shit so call football u play with ur hands all the time

Very mature, arguing which sport is the best. Great stuff.
www.killahbeez.com @ Sep 9th 2007 10:26PM
Daunte Culpepper seems to be missing above. Is he in the game update?
http://www.killahbeez.com
Who Flang Poo @ Sep 9th 2007 11:57PM
Wow, you guys are really intelligent. lol just kidding. You guys can't even make an intelegent argument. You say Football is so much better then American Football, then do not give any facts about why you think it is. Instead all you guys can come up with is that the name is messed up, which I agree with. If you like Football-Soccer, thats fine with me I respect that but to just go out and say that its better and get all worked up about it and do not even state any facts about it is another thing. Fact is no matter how messed up the name is American Football is a sport that takes way more skill then football-soccer. The only reason its so popular is because it has been around far longer then American Football and has grown to peoples cultures more. Remember you guys started this argument I didnt, and I put you in youre place the first time so all you could argue about is the name. LMFAO and you guys said I was brain dead.
tomb923 @ Sep 28th 2007 11:43PM
Does anyone know if patch, or update that names historal players on the teams? I know there is a way to name player on NCAA football. I am looking for names of players on historal teams?
AJ @ Oct 24th 2007 7:11PM
Does anybody elses game change the age of players when you edit them, if so, how do I stop that?
