Ninja Gaiden 2 shots brutally fun?

Stemming from a Japanese Xbox 360 page (which has now been pulled) are several screenshots of what appears to be Ninja Gaiden 2 (now graciously hosted by Gamed.nl). While the images don't look leaps and bounds above the original Ninja Gaiden, they are filled with enough new content to make us believe this is actually Ninja Gaiden 2 and not yet another remake. The shots feature new enemies and new weapons -- including claws and a scythe -- not to mention copious amounts of blood. No, seriously, there's a lot of blood. That, and just about every shot shows at least one severed appendage (or head, or torso ...).
Given the brutal nature of the screenshots, we have to wonder if the screenshots (and their subsequent disappearance) are linked to a countdown on Xbox.com. Labeled "Brutally Fun" and sporting an Asian theme, it wouldn't surprise us if the countdown is related. Either that or the powers that be have finally decided to create the long awaited final chapter of Brutal: Paws of Fury. Whatever it is, we'll know by midnight ET tonight when the countdown is set to expire.

I hope so! I was a bit jealous that the ps3 got it.

I thought Ninja Gaiden was a PS3 exclusive this time around?
I remember playing the xbox version and i couldn't pass the first level. The game was b*tch hard but visually stunning.

All that was exclusive was Sigma... which was essentially an updated and expanded version of Black. Beyond that NG2 was always implied to be coming to 360.
This seems graphically in line with Sigma to me, although I'm sure people out there will fine things to nitpick based on resized screen grabs. Some of them are pretty impressive and some are a bit less so.
I don't remember it being THIS violent, although it's been a while since I played Black lol.

mmmm...nice. LOTS of blood.

Gah! I hope this comes to the PS3. Drool... Tecmo is known for ports so I gots my fingers crossed. In the meantime...I will sit in my corner and sneer at all the 360 owners out there. *sneer sneer* lol.

they just need to get the lighting right and add tons of paint effects to get it looking like Sigma. other than that it looks good. WTF is up with that purple demon tho?
sooo glad they are going into a modern city also. maybe my fantasy of fighting in a Parking Garage will come true?
SadisticHam @ Sep 11th 2007 11:42AM
Still not managed to complete the first lol
I loved it though, i got to the part where you need to fight all the uhh..well, demons, i forgot there names over again and i had little to no health.
Was a fantastic game though, bring on the second.

@6
Tecmo is known for ports, but Itagaki isn't.
He will not have this game go multiplatform while he's working on it. Maybe a year or so after it's settled on the 360 it will go to Tecmo's Sigma division and then get ported.

I'm so stoked about Ninga Gaiden2 for the 360!! I just made it to Master mode on black and remembered how great this game is, even without achievements.
I'm looking forward to this game more than Halo3.
Can we delay Halo and release this game? Please, Please, Please Tecmo!!!!!

@9 Itagaki isn't the same as he was on the original xbox. ieen come on hes making games for the DS lite and he ported Ninja Gaiden to the PS3. it looks like he'll be observing the progress in the development of the games, i meen hes no tthe one who was looking over Sigma some new kid was. But MS could just buy it "Money Talks".
ryan @ Sep 11th 2007 9:16PM
@the PS3 guy above me
of course Itagaki wants to deliver experiences for all consoles!
when he gave NG to the PS3 he had no creative part in it. After 3 years of making cash on one console, hell i'd want to soak up the cash on another console as well!
he won't make a game simultaneously for 360 and PS3. that's for pathetic excuses for action titles *coughDMC4*.
in other words: Wait Ur Turn! lol
