Special Halo 3 checkout lanes at Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart, in their infinite wisdom and deep pocketbooks, is joining in on the Halo 3 midnight launch fun by offering plenty of copies of Halo 3, free Halo 3 branded dog tags and special Halo 3 checkout lanes. And no, we aren't kidding about the checkout lanes. According to Wal-Mart.com's Halo 3 launch page, all Wal-Mart stores will be open at midnight on September 25th for the Halo 3 festivities with those special checkout lanes too. Hopefully they'll go the extra mile and decorate the checkouts in Halo 3 memorabilia, but then again this is Wal-Mart we are talking about. So, we're thinking the "special" Halo 3 checkouts will probably be nothing more than the electronics register being open at midnight. Oh well, Halo 3 midnight fun will be going down!

Just a note that not all wal-mart stores will open at midnight if I remember correctly. There's county laws that allow stores to open up at midnight. I know where I'm located, wal-mart can't open at midnight cause of this. I'll just pick it up before I leave work on the 24th. Sucks that I can't buy it now too, cash registers won't allow me to buy it even though it's already in the back. Work in electronics @ wal-mart btw.

i'm sure this only applies to currently 24 hour walmarts. I don't care how hyped a product(ex. 360, wii) is, i have never found a walmart sell a product at midnight like advertised if it wasn't already a 24 hour location.

My stupid school scheduled picture day on Halo 3 release date. Now I am stuck choosing make-up picture day and Halo 3 at launch, or picture day and Halo 3 after school. :( Stupid school!

The Wal Mart in Athens, Ohio has signs posted about a Halo 3 tournament on 9/24. It runs from 7:00 PM to Midnight-- Everyone plays H3 until it comes out and the winner gets a free copy.

I am pumped about it, but it sounds a little dodgy to me considering everyone is freaking out about early releases and such. I assume their justification is that the games are not leaving the stores, so it is ok. It's also for charity, so I suppose that helps make it look legit.

Walmarts checkout lanes are painfully slow. I try to avoid that place at all costs. The only thing I buy there is the 5qt bottle of Mobil 1 motor oil. They can't be beat on that.

I preordered Halo at Game Crazy, but the idiot behind the counter (or maybe the idiot in front of it) only put me down for a regular H3. Oh well, a spartan helmet ought to be easy enough to get off Ebay in a year or so.

I just called GameStop and they said they are having a Halo 3 tournament September 24 at 9pm-midnight, then you can buy your games.

Does anyone know if the XBOX 360 Elite Data Transfer Cable will work with the new Halo 3 Edition XBOX 360 in transferring data from my old 20gb HD to the Halo Edition 20gb HD??? Or does it only work transferring from the 20gb to the 120gb HD????
