Halo 3 Xbox 360 gets unboxed and likes it

The $399 limited edition Halo 3 Xbox 360 just released yesterday and we're sure eager Halo fanboys are excited to see it in its green, unboxed glory. And thankfully the guys over at Gear Live pulled out their wallets, purchased the Halo themed 360 and posted high res pictures of their the green wonder. Make the jump to see up close pictures of the new console, its lovely orange bezel, its super sexy red wireless sync button and the text above the USB ports that reads "fuel intake". We can all agree that the pricing for this limited edition console is a little unforgiving and the fact that it doesn't come with a copy of Halo 3 is a tad puzzling, but after looking at these pictures we're going to have to say that it is quite attractive. Plain and simple, the orange accents really bring out the army green ... they really do.

Yeah, its quite nice in person when unboxed as compared to other pictures. It's more dark green rather than puke green as some say. The only problem I don't like is the bright red button for the sync (to sync with the wireless controller). Other than that, the orange really shines. Pretty quiet too from what I noticed. Is it worth the $399 price tag? Probably not, if you already have a 360 (I do, but sold it to my brother and now we both have one), but it's still very nice and the best word to describe it is "unique." It isn't exactly ugly, I personally love the color. Was worth the $385 after 10% discount and taxes that I paid for it. Different strokes for different folks though.

@#3....i too noticed that it was quite a bit quieter than my old one. I'm very happy with it, and would take one of these over the regular one anyday. But i would rather have the 120gb hdd

This is so f'ing stupid. This is no different than if Nintendo was selling Super Mario Bros. edition Nintendo's in the '80's without the Mario game. It's absurd. No way in hell I'm giving MS my money for a "Halo" edition system without the Halo game.

All this is, is a glorified paint job without the game for more money.

I agree though. The Halo 3 Marketing Strategy has basically been FLAWLESS but the killing blow would have been this system released on Sept 25 packaged with Halo 3 inside of it for $399.99.

That would have been sick. SO MANY people would have gotten it and it would have been a far more attractive package.

I picked one up yesterday, only because my premium 360 died yesterday.

- Looks better in person
-Its a very dark green
-The detail all over the console is really nice
-I like how the controller and headset also match the console
-I also noticed that the console runs and my nba 2k7 did load a bit faster than before, also it is much much quieter.

but... honestly if my 360 did not die on me I would not have piked one up.

The console looks a LOT better than in the pic. It's beautiful... especially the controller. The retail Halo controllers are ugly, but this piece is NICE!

It's a lot faster. I used to change the tabs on the dashboard for fun... you know, hold the arrow to the left, then to the right, then to the left... I noticed the menu switches a LOT faster than it did before (doesn't sound as cool, but oh well...)

Just waiting to get some HDMI cables.

ya i got it on sunday when it came out and it is really nice looking in person but i had to spend another 400$ when i already had a elite and a original....kinda sad that it didnt at least come with a halo 3 demo! but the themes and gammer pics match it perfectly so i say its a good buy and what i read above someone said it was quieter and faster i agree with that

@18 why? 3 warrenty! dude what is wrong with you? its your money you can do what you want. this i think is retarted i know a kid who bought a pre, then an elite, pre ordered this one and, thinking about buying a new 360 when the falcon chips with heat sinks comes out. i have so much hate for MS now! in the begining i rather enjoyed there message pump fist twice in the air for affordable next gen gaming but chopping it up then selling more than 4 different versions of the console, i meen come on! Core, 360 pre, ELITE 120 gig with HDMI, halo 20gig (i thought it was 120gigs @8), 20 gig with HDMI........ 20gig with falcon/heat sink, 120 gig with falcon/heat sink, and possible HD-DVD, 120gig/HDMI, Falcon/heat sink in the works. this is unheard of never before seen in console history has a consle done this. ill give you the fact that every console accept for the the N64, or xbox (the wii to me is a gamecube remake) has a remake that is not only the hardware being changed and cut down but is aesthetically redesigned in some way making it smaller and more efficient. im just saying there is no need for you to buy something you already have unless the newer model has something that will dramatically improve the quality of your gaming experience. yes hahaha what the PS3 needs is some good games to dramatically improve gaming experience. get your laugh on but some people are just plain dumb for buying more than 3 of the same console its like a new color of the DS(OMG its the new slightly lighter than black but not grey DS OMGZ i must have it!!!)

By the way (25) is not my friend i just happened to post after him but it goes to show you more people do it. all my friend says when i ask him why he bougth so many is "because 360 PWNS so hard thats why. FACE!" then he plans on buying a PS3 now but i guess its nice to have a friend like that. i basically borrowed his after MS said i tampered with the HARDWARE which i did not! until the new chips come out d^_^b d'o'b d-.-b yeah i know im just a sad parasite. dx.xb

Looks great. Wish I had one on the way... which I should, after pre-ordering from Amazon. But all I have is an email from Jennifer in customer service about how the previous dates were "incorrect" and they won't actually be in stock until the 20th. Thanks, Amazon!

And, yeah, that "Spartan" green does look a lot like army green!

I'm going to have to go with the "Why wasn't this bundled with the game" group. The Xbox Halo Edition came with Halo, and if I recall it was $10 cheaper than normal. I guess I just find the price increase hard to justify without it actually coming with the game.

I don't know how many time or on how many languages people on here need to say it (I don't know if anyone on here is fluent in retard, though) but this is a 360 fanboy site. Either play nice, or GTFO. I'm sure there's a ton of PS3 fan sites you can go on to bash the 360 (or to talk about all the awesome blu-ray movies you've been watching instead of playing our leftover games a month to a year after they port them to PS3.)

Oh, and a period or hard return every once in a while probably wouldn't kill you either.

They don't include Halo 3 since they don't want to force a copy on you. What if you wanted the limited or legendary edition? You'd be pissed that you were stuck with just a standard copy. Although including a coupon of some sort towards any purchase of Halo 3 would make the most sense.

where did i bash the 360 i said i hate the fact that theres so many and there no need to by a new one everytime a new model comes even when the one before is working. i beat halo 1 on legendary, halo 2 all i did was multiplayer and some co op but i dont think its that great to kill my wallet over it. Left overs? so thats what they call timed exclusives now a days, so Unreal tournament 3, or virtual fighter , or even MGS4(if ported to the 360) are left overs and you wouldnt buy left overs would you now. dont eat you on kind by saying stuff that a lot of fanboys do. like i said this site maybe one of the best sources to get 360 news dont take the fanboy name to heart everybody if dont have or have the intention of owning a 360 or intrested in its games idont see why your here. 360 has some nice RPGS coming out and conviction next years looks like its going to be good, and i cant wait for Alan Wake i thought that game would be out by now.

idc what people think with me buying 3 360's if i have the money i can do what i want with it. And i gota say im happy with my all my buys because the elite is great with nice big memory i still got 90 gigs left on the thing, the halo 3 Xbox is nice and quiet,runs faster,and if i may say runs cooler the original xbox i gota say i dont really use anymore but its still great
