Hope you pre-ordered, H3 Legendary Edition sellout

If you've been eying up the Halo 3 Legendary Edition (the version that comes with an uber cool Spartan cat helmet) then you best be getting your pre-order on, because it's expected to be sold out come launch day.

In a statement from a Microsoft spokesman to GamesIndustry.biz, they confirmed that the demand for the $130 Legendary Edition in the US is high and that it is "on track to be sold out by the time Halo 3 launches next week". And our European friends find themselves in a similar situation, because CVG is reporting that the Legendary Edition is sold out in the UK due to the high amount of pre-orders. So, if you want to be a proud card carrying member of the Halo 3 Legendary Edition fanclub, then run (literally, run) to your local game store and see if you can pre-order and guarantee your copy. Good luck kids and lesson learned.

Cincinnati Ohio..come on down to the Western Hills Best Buy to reserve your Legendary, because we still have a few left.

The only location in the tri-state Cincinnati area (perhaps all of Ohio) that is doing a midnight opening is the Florence location.

I know that's a bit local to mention here but I'm sure that this info matters to maybe one or two guys out there.

No kidding. I preordered 1 legendary, 1 collectors, and 2 regular for me and my family. I also did it when they announced the Legendary, thank God.

Now, it'll be interesting to see who's willing to part with them and try pawning them on eBay, and when that happens, how much they go for.

Knight, why FOUR FREAKING COPIES??

I preordered my legendary box an only owe like, 23 bucks left on it. I plan on camping out side my local Gamestop in the mall for my Launch Day festivities. Then its off to my basement for two days straight to get thru Halo3. I have too many good games coming this month to waste time :)

See, I have preordered Halo 3, Assassins Creed, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, and there is one other one... oh yes, Guitar Hero 3. :) (I found my recipt, or else GH3 would have been like, um... can I call a friend please Regis?)

EBgames and gamestop stopped taking preorders about a month ago. or at least thats what the workers there told me when i tried to preorder mine. Bestbuy is still taking orders though.

He's going to make out like a bandit. $300 per copy, MINIMUM.

I sure hope Amazon didn't over-promise on their preorders. Not as bad, but still bad, would be to have a few waves of shipments go out before they got to mine.

Of course, I like that eBay idea, but who knows how the prices would be if EVERYBODY dumps theirs...

It's too expensive for tons of people to buy more than one, and it's too popular for people who bought one to sell theirs and buy a standard copy.

This is like Diablo II - popular enough that people will want their own and not sell it, and expensive enough on its own that tons of people can't hoard preorders for re-sale on eBay.

I was thinking about going to the midnight oepning at my local gamestop, but the guy there (very nice fellow, come to think of it) said that i'm guaranteed a copy of it, no matter what, on Tuesday, be it midnight or later.

And its the Limited, not Legendary. I don't own a cat 24/7

Nah, I won't do the eBay thing, the four copies are for me, my wife, and twins. We all have our own 360's, and our own Gold Live accounts, and we all play online. Thusly, games like Halo 3 really take a pinch out of the wallet, as it's a game we'll all likely be playing at the same time, not to mention that 4 person co-op!

The earlier reports that the Limited ($70) would have stuff not in the Legendary have been proven false. If you buy the Legendary, you'll get everything in the original and Limited edition.

Deezul - sorta. I think there's a book in the Limited that appears in the Legendary in digital format.

Anyone know how the numbers are shaping up for Canada? I preordered a Legendary several places; whatever one comes in first I'll pick up and cancel the rest.

I work at UPS and I literally loaded an entire truck with the Legendary Edition this morning. They were very clean, solid boxes that just said "HELMET", "2 PIECES", "MADE IN CHINA" on the side. On a sticker on the side they said "Halo 3 Legendary". I couldn't believe how many there were. They were headed to a Gamestop in WV.

Jonah, the Legendary edition comes with the same book, it is just in digital form on of the exclusive bonus discs. It sucks but I guess that if the price you have to pay for owning one of 10,000 units (or something like that).

I pre-ordered my Legendary edition back in January before the final retail price was released. Even back then, they told me I was late in pre-ordering that. They also told me that I probably pre-ordered the last copy from that store. I pre-ordered my game at a GameStop so we will see. I just have hesitations as this GameStop has screwed me over once before when the Xbox 360 launched so I hope they don't do it again.

10 000 Units. Lol try again. Over 1 million legendarys have been made worldwide. Its anything short of Rare. You cans till pre-order at futureshop and bestbuy here in canada, as well as a plethora of local stores. And as some1 who mentioned above, gamestop in the US.

I feel sorry for all the people buying these legendary editions who think they are gonna be rare and they get to sell them for big bucks. Yeah right. The only reason to purchase a LE is if your some mega die-hard merchandise fan of halo 3. The Legendary edition is worth no more then MSRP, will only depreciate in value once its out, and is not nessicary at all if what your looking for is the halo 3 game like me.

I am however interested in the halo 1 and 2 cinematic DVD, but im sure that will be up on the torrent sites any day now.

I pre-ordered legendary back when it was announced. I need $91 to finish fully pay it off. Tho, i have about 70 dollars here which will be taken to my gamestop for a deposit. When i go pick up my game i just want to show my receipt, sign something if i have to and take my game home....

AND I was in Gamestop two days ago reserving another two copies and I asked one of the managers when they where going to stop reserving them and she said the day before the midnight release, cause Microsoft said they would make enough for the reservations and than some in a recent email sent from Microsoft to Gamestop stores.

This isn't Bioshock: LE. Microsoft knows what they are doing and they produced mass quantities of the Halo 3: Legendary Edition. Anyone pre-ordering to sell on eBay is going to end up screwed over--even if it is "on track to sell-out," how many of those 1,000,000+ copies are going to end up on eBay? A lot.
