It's lonely, it's secluded, it's Halo 3's Isolation

Isolation is considered to be a medium size map that takes place in an enclosed environment where players can shoot it out up top amongst the sparse trees and rolling grassy hills or head underground and duke it out in the dark and moist tunnels. IGN also posted a quick Q&A with lead multiplayer man Tyson Green where he mentioned that the map was designed for Multi-Flag CTF, but said that Team Slayer works like a beaut too. Green then hinted at a special "feature" that happens when playing Isolation for a while, but he refused to spoil what exactly happens. We're thinking it has something to do with the underground aspect of the map, because the IGN supplied screenshots show what to be some sort of white eggs or fungus that grows underground. So, maybe something hatches? Whatever the special surprise may be, Isolation looks amazingly fun and should be a Forge fan favorite. Look for more Isolation screenshots after you make the jump.

I thought I read that the biosphere had been seeded with Flood? Maybe you have to fight the Flood too, or all the dead players are re-animated.
That would be annoying though.
bnun @ Sep 18th 2007 11:24AM
This sounds like a really good map, I can't wait to play it.
Bungie described it as "an isolated biosphere which has been seeded with the basic Flood organism", so guess the surprise has something to do with the Flood.
Also, in the screenshots from that level, they show the Infection gametype. I was hoping in Infection, once you became the zombie that you would change to the Flood character type, but it looks like your character just changes color. Becoming a Flood character would be awesome.
Hockle @ Sep 18th 2007 11:25AM
On one of the shots it says that a player "...has become a zombie."
sweetness
Mohamed @ Sep 18th 2007 11:26AM
Anyone notice one of the pictures has status displays near the bottom left about "infecting someone" and "becoming a zombie"? Maybe thats the special feature that they're talking about.
Whatever it is, it sounds interesting, to say the least. Can't wait to see what it is and whether it will be fun or not.
Mohamed @ Sep 18th 2007 11:27AM
Lol, of course 2 people beat me to my conclusion about the map, either way I'm sure that has something to do with it :)

wholy shite...
Magic Whiskey @ Sep 18th 2007 12:45PM
Yeah, I think X3F should post a 'story' (not really a STORY, per se), and ask fans WWUBP? (What Will You Be Playing?)...Halo 3 Campaign or Multiplayer first?
If this comes to pass...Dustin..Richard...
let me cast my vote for multiplayer. I'll backbill this quickly; I never felt at home in any of the Halo 2 multiplayer maps, and the fact that so many people knew the layout, the location of each weapon and it's respawn time, all of the different game types within multiplayer...I was always pwned. I won't say I didn't have my good days, but the bitter truth to me is that Halo 2 multiplayer got stale for me fast.
WITH THAT SAID...
I rocked the Beta. Hell, somehow I even got into the Eurogamer Halo 3 Beta video documentary by happy accident! I want to really do well this time around in Halo, and to do so, I need to do my homework ahead of many people. I know and have memorized Snowbound, High Ground and Valhalla, but I'm chomping at the bit to play 'Long n' Lean (I forgot the new name for that one..the bridge..), Isolation..and Guardian for starters.
The Halo 3 story in the campaign will keep me entertained for a long time, but for me, Halo 3 will be a party/after-work pub game. "Hey..after work, u wanna play some Shotty Snipers on Valhalla?" That sort of thing.
Thank you for drinking, and we appreciate your support.
Magic Whiskey @ Sep 18th 2007 12:47PM
Or was it...'Thank you for your support?' Aw dammit.
Mr BoomStick XL @ Sep 18th 2007 12:59PM
I WANT THIS GAME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's really funny is everyone that I have talked to is looking foward to the Multi-player part of the game even more than the single player part!!! This map is going to be AWESOME!!!!!
Chain @ Sep 18th 2007 1:00PM
I've been trying to avoid all Halo 3 info after playing the MP beta (Didn't play much of it). I can only hope they have a Zombie game mode. ZombieMod for CS:S chewed up lots of my free time.
leftybrown @ Sep 18th 2007 1:24PM
I don't know why, but that pic reminds me of the gorilla exhibit at the San Francisco Zoo a little bit.
Trashman @ Sep 18th 2007 1:53PM
ZOMG!!!! Zombies is now a gametype! This just keeps getting better and better. 6 more days to go
Fontez @ Sep 18th 2007 2:10PM
The cool part is there's a secret tunnel right at the back on top of that forerunner structure...
If you fall in it takes you through a slimey flood tunnel and through this gross flood door that opens up like a wind pipe in a lung... And down to the underground flood section of the level
There's a few flood fungus bubbles but I haven't tried shooting them yet I've just been looking around... I'm assuming they burst and unleash about 7-10 flood spores...
It's a pretty damn good map
baby sea tuna @ Sep 18th 2007 2:20PM
Man, all the people that were saying that this doesn't look any better than Halo 2 are on fucking drugs!
And not the good kind either...
CHINESE BABON @ Sep 18th 2007 3:07PM
Reminds me of the interior of the Imperial City (sorry, I was once an Oblivion addict), anywhoo... sweet map, GO BUNGIE!
chukc @ Sep 18th 2007 7:21PM
if you look carefully you can see that there is another armor style
the helmet has two eys instead of a face sheild
its in one of the photos where its four red vs. three blue and theres a rocket dude
Halonut1 @ Sep 19th 2007 3:07AM
HAS NO ONE NOTICED THIS AT ALL?
There is HALO 1 STYLE ARMOR. the guy in the bunker has a H1 helmet and the rocker launcher red guy jumping has the H1 breastplate.
aaron @ Sep 19th 2007 3:16PM
well they show a picture of a white fungus or egg but to me it looks like that nasty white crap that grows everywhere when the flood infest an area. flood infested map should = nasty white stuff that grows in flood infested areas. logical thinking here people nasty flood=nasty flood gunk
