Video: Bellevue, WA Halo 3 launch w/ Bill Gates

Okay, so we have one more Halo 3 launch recap to share with you before we put the subject to bed. Still, among launches, the Bellevue launch may have been the most special. No, there weren't any famous rappers or actors in the crowd, but there was one person there that stood out. We are talking about the Microsoft man himself, Bill Gates. Gates does his best to appear excited about the game, even donning what appears to be a UNSC hoodie. Gates even autographs the Halo 3 case of the first person in line. Unfortunately, the kid in line had him sign the case while it was still shrink wrapped. Better save that cellophane. But wait, there's more, not only do you get to see Bill Gates, but our own David Dreger was on the scene to shed some light on the Halo 3 experience. Best of all, we've got video of the whole affair, courtesy of Geeks vs Life. Be warned before you watch the video after the break though: there are spoilers and some salty language.

What's funny is that guy wasn't actually the first person in line. The first person in line was a 15 year old kid waiting with his dad, but due to legal reasons (you need to be at least 17 years old to play Halo 3, though nobody follows that rule clearly) they went to the next person in line which was the person seen above. Scandalous!
Still that was a cool launch event.

Sorry to drag you out of bed Bill.

I've been thinking it for a couple of weeks now and this video cinches it:
David Dreger is a fucking tool.
Not only does he think so goddamned highly of himself, as evidenced by constantly cutting off Richard (the host) during the fancast, but he always has to have the last say about everything. He's the guy who will be the first to jump all over someone if they are incorrect about the most insignificant of details regarding a game. He's they type of nerd you can't stand to have a conversation with.
And will you PLEASE get over yourself for being a fucking beta tester in Shadowrun? No one gives a shit, nor are you fooling anyone when you desperately try to elevate yourself to the same level as the developers by constantly name-dropping while you were in the beta test process. "Team We Made This Game?" I think you mean "Team FASA and a guy who won't leave us alone."
I pity Richard, who must rue the day he hired Dreger. Once you wind him up, he never quits.

I thought about it for like 2 seconds just now.
Killjoy is a fucking tool.

Man why are you so worked about KD, he's a cool cat, leave him be.
bigmac375 @ Oct 2nd 2007 8:42PM
i dont think he is a tool, but he did have a jeff bell esque attitude in that video that i thought was weird. i guess that was the inner fanboyism kicking in.
Manny S. @ Oct 2nd 2007 9:15PM
Man, you would never know Bill Gates is so friggin' rich and runs just about the largest empire on earth. In that video he looks like your average geek that you see every day walking the tech aisles at Best Buy or Circuit City.
Teabag @ Oct 2nd 2007 10:05PM
@10- Exactly my thoughts. The richest man in the world and so ordinarily dressed. In fact, i have never seen him in high fashion clothing. Either he is trying to be humble about it or he really is. Or just doesn't have the time to hire a designer. And he doesn't have a clue, does he, about what Halo is? All he maybe knowing is that it's gonna break all the freakin records of game sales.
DaMan09 @ Oct 2nd 2007 10:40PM
@11 about clothing
to bad the same cant be said for Steve Jobs.
Matt531 @ Oct 2nd 2007 11:33PM
the kid that was first in line got in trouble with his school because he was on the news and in the paper saying he was skipping school
Phil @ Oct 2nd 2007 11:36PM
@13
Wow! lol owned. That sucks.
Tom @ Oct 3rd 2007 12:08AM
Looks like bill just got out of bed. Or maybe hes past his bedtime?
Justin @ Oct 3rd 2007 12:14AM
You mean thank goodness he only signed the cellophane... if he took off the shrink wrap... we might have a problem.

Is anybody getting Dirty Disk messages from their copy of Halo 3 like this guy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhuQuD8L6Bk
This guy can't load The Pit.
Strange, eh?
Isn't Bill G. a big Halo fan? That's what I heard.
DjDATZ @ Oct 3rd 2007 1:03AM
Killjoy, you're an idiot for goin on about KD. KD's a cool cat like Lewis said.
Frankly, if you don't like Knuckles, don't read his posts. Better yet, if you're going to post like that about someone here, then you can just fuck off and leave. Really, no one gives a shit about you.
Now, DakOps Spartan is a tool. lol
DjDATZ @ Oct 3rd 2007 1:11AM
@ 13. PWNED.
Knuckles Dawson @ Oct 3rd 2007 10:41AM
Regarding the Jeff Bellism. He was there, and in fact I called him over to do a quickie interview with Geek vs Life, wherein he disclosed that He's most looking forward to Mass Effect, then I asked what NON MGS game he was looking forward to and he said CoD4.
Perhaps his enthusiasm rubbed off on me, cause even after I watched the video, I felt like I was being a tool. I was almost pulling some half Patrick Bateman half cheesy radio personality shit.
Oh, and a couple of the players from "Team FASA and a guy who won't leave us alone." were there, and actually picked me out from the crowd and shot the shit for a while. Kinda sucks how since they despise me so much they have to force themselves to initiate conversation with me and be more than friendly.
