Video: Opening Lost Odyssey cinematic
Mmm, what's better than pre-rendered Japanese video game opening cinematic sequences that are based on massively in depth RPGs? Answer: not much. Embedded above is one of those movie quality opening cinematic from Mistwalker's Lost Odyssey. And after watching it, we bet you can't contain your urge to want to play the game, rent a horribly translated Japanese movie or at the very least order some Japanese food. Yes sir, it's that enjoyable and now we know why the game comes on four DVDs. Pre-rendered HD video eats last-gen media formats alive.
[Thanks, Chris]

Well, is this only coming out in Japan or something? I really haven't heard of this game, think they will come out with a demo?
I want some gameplay video!

Want!!!
Final Fantasy has been really letting me down the last few years since Sakaguchi left. Now he's working on a new RPG for my favorite console? Hell Yes.
Coweh @ Oct 14th 2007 10:49AM
This brings back memories of my favorite Final Fantasy adventures, only more mature and with an extra layer of shiny. Count me in!

I really hated Blue Dragon, but as long as that goddamn Maromaro and his ilk keep their high pitched voices out of Lost Odyssey, count me in.

how does he keep that single strand of hair...so damn perfect? lol
lookin good. can't wait!
Mike-453 @ Oct 14th 2007 5:11PM
I like the main character and the lack of outragiously spiky hair.
darkzero63 @ Oct 14th 2007 5:29PM
OH noes! The sony phan bois are going to run wild with this saying that it is on FOUR CDS!
Thats part of the fun of playing RPGs getting to another CD...
ryan @ Oct 14th 2007 6:41PM
yeah, true that spiky hair is played to death in an RPG...
but you think they'd at least find some other distinguishing factor about him other than that perfect strand of hair. i think it's several strands thick...implying he gels it. lol
Mike-453 @ Oct 14th 2007 7:23PM
He needs no distinguishing features, he's lived through ages, through many battles, always living in the background, or some crap like that. Point is, i'm glad he doesn't wear particularly colourful clothing and hair.
Brian @ Oct 14th 2007 8:46PM
I fell asleep during that opener...anything actually happen? Probably not..
MYPS3KilledMy360 @ Oct 15th 2007 10:22AM
i love square but god damn why cant i play as the evil guy destroying the world for my own noble cause and be totally badass destroying the good guys no matter how stong they get.
VampireHunter Z @ Oct 15th 2007 11:13AM
It looks really good. I like the music too. I didn't know they had flat panel displays in their era or universe. This will probably be the first JRPG that I will enjoy in a long time.
ryan @ Oct 15th 2007 11:50AM
I agree, he doesn't need distinguishing features. hardended warrior, grunt grunt Grrraagh! I get it, i like heroes like that.
....which is why that hair strand sticks out like a sore thumb. that definitely IS a distinguished feature.
it's not bad...it's got a nice femmy quality to it...which comes with the territory in these JRPGS. lol
ryan @ Oct 15th 2007 11:58AM
and the game looks really really great if you've been keeping up with the Live Tokyo updates.
i do agree that when compared to RPGS of the past, this one is sorta kinda Lame, nothing really happens, just city sequences to give us the world view of things. which is good! Environment looks top notch!
but...man it was really boring and not really involving and Un-epic.
Mike-453 @ Oct 15th 2007 3:10PM
Hey, this main character is as butch and 'rawr ima kill you' main character as you're going to get in a JRPG.
ryan @ Oct 15th 2007 8:38PM
oh, i totally agree! we all need more meat and potatoes in our JRPGs! with that brooding look and that FABULOUS hair-do, i'm sure he'll bring the goods!
