E4 and Speedball 2 now on XBLA

If you turn on your Xbox 360 today -- and we have a sneaking suspicion that you will -- you will find two brand new games to download for Xbox Live Arcade. On one hand we have Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe. On the other we have Every Extend Extra Extreme (mercifully abbreviated E4). Speedbal brings a taste of the oft overlooked "sport of the future" genre. Previously, this ground was held solely by Smash TV, though that's really not fair as Smash TV is really part of a much smaller "game show of the future" niche. E4 brings absolutely nothing to the "sport of the future" genre, opting insteasd for lots of pretty lights and trippy music. All in all we have two unique offerings. Go get 'em and tell us what you think.

Is Every Extend Extra Extreme named as such to make fun of poor Japanese-English translations or something?

I'm going to get try both out.
I hope Brutal Deluxe stands the test of time.

Also take note that Lumines is now offering the Heavenly Stars Skin (music by Genki Rockets) for free. And the one year anniversary skin called Breeze (also Genki Rockets) for free.
On top of that they have added a new skin pack for the holidays with 20 new skins. These range from halloween themes to snowflake wonderland.

Forgot to mention that the "Rockin' Holiday Pack" comes at a cost of 400 points.

No. It's just an extension. The original game was "Every Extend". Then the PSP was "Every Extend Extra". Now this is "Every Extend Extra Extreme".
PS. The developer is Japanese.

Just played a marathon of EEEE for 60 minutes. Sheesh. I'm playing limited from now on. LOL
PS. Speedball is misspelled as "Speedbal".

anyone know if either of these are any good?
Gemini Ace @ Oct 17th 2007 10:59AM
Yawn. All the arcade games lately have been crap.

Cool, I can download Heavenly Star again. I had to replace my HDD and thought I'd never see it again.

@10 try before you buy, sir, try before you buy.

I'm probably going to get E4, it seems cool and I like the games from those guys.

i tried both games, E4 is a wierd game, but not as wierd as space giraffe, and is actually a fun/addicting concept. I'm considering a buy since it's 800, if it was 600 or less i would get it in a second.
speedball is kinda crappy, but oddly enough they only let you play the retro mode in the trial instead of the new HD mode. Isn't the point of a demo/trial to show off the best part of your game and try to make a sale?

I love E4...I got 98Billion points on my first attempt on level one...there was a web game that had a similar concept (set off an explosion and cause as big of a chain reaction as possible). I had one chain that took 30 seconds to finish...over 1000...yeah I could see this being a daily ritual.
Also...Cyberball beat speedball to the punch...although it's not so much sport of the future as it is sport of today...with robots.
