GHIII Weekend revealed, demo releases tomorrow
Activision just announced their Xbox Live plans for Guitar Hero III's release and also confirmed that a demo will be released to the XBLM tomorrow morning for those who aren't all about burning a CD.The GHIII demo is the same one that's bundled with Proving Grounds including five tracks, but now in official XBLM form. Activision also revealed plans for a Guitar Hero III Weekend starting on November 2nd where they'll hold a Play & Win contest offering prizes galore and a chance to unlock the "Meet Your Maker" achievement during a developer Game with Fame session held on Friday night. Official details and registration for the GHIII Weekend events will be posted over at Xbox.com, but currently the promotional website isn't working.
Remember kids, GHIII demo available on the XBLM tomorrow and GHIII Weekend the week after launch. Oh the fun we'll be having in the next few days.

can you play the demo if you do not have a guitar controller?
Gemini Ace @ Oct 22nd 2007 2:09PM
Honesly, who cares?

A lot of people? What kind of question is that? lol
Also, the demo works fine with a normal controller although it's not that fun.

Well as I can't find an option to use more sensible buttons on the demo, and I'm stuck with triggers and bumpers and what feels like random buttons I'll stick to Boom Boom Rocket.

@7 I'd love to see you come up with a better idea for a control scheme on the 360 controller.
Because you can't. That's why it's funny.
Left to right. It's the only good way to do it. If you had all of them mapped to abxy then your 1 thumb wouldn't be able to do it, so you'd need 2 on that small area, and then a fifth button located elsewhere. It would be useless.

Any word on wether this demo is coming to Europe tomorrow as well? I know there's a month before the actual release here, but it would be nice....

With regards to playing GH with a standard controller- I think we can all agree that it is pointless to play w/o the guitar. I've played co-op with the controller, purely out of necessity, but otherwise, it's just bad.

I downloaded the CD last night and tried it out.
the graphics have vastly improved.
and the fret board a lot more visible than before. The game seems like it's harder than the GH2.
