New Forza 2 racing turf releasing this Friday [update]

Mentioned in their latest Pitpass Report, developer Turn 10 confirmed that this Friday, October 26th a new Forza Motorsport 2 race track will be ready for download off of the XBLM (pending any Microsoft cert delays). We believe that the new track will be free, but not much is known about it as no name or screenshots have release. But Turn 10 did hint that today one lucky website will be exclusively revealing all the track's details. So, we'll keep one eye on the web, one eye on the Marketplace and a third borrowed eye on the road, because we have new DLC coming to Forza 2.
[Thanks, Tony]

"Today, Microsoft confirmed to GameSpot that Forza 2's first downloadable track is off the blocks and will be delivered over Xbox Live on October 26. Forza 2's 14th track is Twin Ring Motegi, which is based on a real-world track designed by Honda in 1997 for testing cars. The track is also a premier destination for circuit racing in Japan and accommodates CART, IRL, NASCAR, SuperGT, and Formula Nippon events. The Twin Ring Motegi downloadable track will be available for 600 Microsoft points ($7.50)."

Yeah, unfortunately I sent in that first tip yesterday and the tip xeno just posted about 30 minutes ago... I guess they get a lot of tips in their box? lol
xenocidic @ Oct 23rd 2007 3:43PM
oh, and I think it's pretty poor form to be charging for this track seeing as how there were so few included at launch.
DjDATZ @ Oct 23rd 2007 3:49PM
that is CRAP $7.50 for a new track? fuck that shit.
i'll get my 1 mill onlines credits and trade in the game.
Tony @ Oct 23rd 2007 3:50PM
I don't think it was that bad. Including variations there were almost 50 total.

Also, it's 600 points, not 800. About 7.50 like DjDATZ says.
I kind of got over my pricing concerns with it quickly. It's a real world track, they clearly put a lot of work into it (apparently months) and a lot of the buzz seems to be that they're selling this at a bit of a loss. We'll see.

i'm not buying any more msp until microsoft drops the canadian prices to reflect the at least at par dollar values.
xenocidic @ Oct 23rd 2007 3:55PM
@djdatz , i've been toying with the idea of making an eBay purchase of MSP from an American seller.
Wizardly @ Oct 23rd 2007 4:10PM
IMO, 600 points = too much for one track.
Ithilis @ Oct 23rd 2007 4:28PM
Agreed, DjDatz.
I cracked and bought Puzzle Quest, but I'm not buying another MSP until the values get adjusted for us Canadians. It's such a HUGE ripoff for us.
DjDATZ @ Oct 23rd 2007 4:48PM
Xeno, i have been too...but frankly right now theres nothing on xbla i want to play...so there's no need for more points. oh well...
i'm with wizardly...600 MSP is too much for a track. Plus i only have 400 MSP and i wont buy points till MS equals out the value of the points.
intRvenous @ Oct 23rd 2007 5:14PM
That is steep. But a new track is LONG overdue. This is my favorite racing by far, so I'll bite the bullet.
Of course, it'll be free in like 2 months :-(
juliodfw @ Oct 24th 2007 8:06PM
600 points for 1 track!?? If it was two or three ok but 1???? Yeah, I'd rather download Looney toon cartoons.
lewisd35 @ Oct 24th 2007 3:55AM
With PGR4 not living up to my expectations I'd love another track for Forza (god knows it needs some!). But 600 points is completely over the top. In the UK that's £7 or $14!
Why not just give us some more original rather than real world circuits like Maple Valley? Surely that way they don't have to incur the expense of mapping the circuit which I guess is the expensive part.

@djdatz, not sure if you're still checking these comments, but i've been looking at the eBay auctions and some of them are noting that the cards are region specific for the USA... so they won't work in Canada?
anyone have any insight into this?

they just updated their pricing strategy, it's now only 400 msp.

I'm curious if anyone is aware of what has happened over at Turn 10.
I'll summarize:
Forza had a big cheat glitch in the money/auction house.
Instead of fixing it, Turn 10 decided to issue a "gotcha" patch
that would disable your career, your credits, your cars, and wipe out your stats.
The problem is that the patch does not discriminate. It looks for people who have Forza game save data on more that one device (like most people who used the duped car glitch).
So... honest people (like me) and hundreds of others that had a back up game saves on their memory unit applied the new patch only to find that we could no longer load the careers that some of us have spent more than 80+ on.
All tolled, I lost 4 million+ credits (that I fucking earned), 122 tuned cars and 31 custom paint jobs. What's even worse, is you have to start the game over from the beginning.
This began happening back in August. To date, Turn 10 has done nothing to solve this problem. They haven't even said if it IS solvable.
Now they come out some some VERY overpriced content to add to a game that has been broken since day 1.
Someone (cough:X3F:cough) should get a scoop from the guys at Turn 10.
They are refusing to respond to the thousands of posts n the FM2 forums. People are livid and rightly so. They made the gamers pay for their shoddy coding which allowed the glitch to begin with.
so how 'bout it X3f? Care to give Dan Greenwalt a call?
