New Rock Band release date, website, song revealed

Hey, remember how Rock Band was releasing on Black Friday, the most hellish of all shopping days? Well, guess what? "What?" you say. Harmonix has confirmed that the release of Rock Band has been pushed forward to November 20, three days shy of the original November 23 release date. Of course, this means two things. One, you can avoid the hellmouth of your local mall come Black Friday. Two, you can play Rock Band on Thanksgiving. Rock Band is great, but Rock Band with a side of turkey and gravy is even better.

Also revealed by Harmonix are plans to relaunch RockBand.com with new community features to help virtual bands get their message out. The new site is set to include leaderboards, band pages, personal blogs, forums, and a classifieds page (it's really hard to keep drummers). The site is also set to include a photo shoot feature that will allow players to light and photograph their in-game avatars.

Finally, GameTrailers has revealed a new Rock Band track, "Green Grass and High Tides" as made famous by The Outlaws. You can check it out in the video above.

This game plays almost the exact same way as Guitar Hero, but with one major difference...more instruments! I don't see how more people want GH3 more than Rock Band, I rather use my GH2 guitar for the Bass in RB.

Can't wait, truly a party game! I'm going to trash my room and break the guitars over my tv just like rockers used to do it. Lol jk, I'm not rich (or crazy).

The difficulty is what a lot of people are complaining about. I am good at guitar hero, and there's a video on youtube showing Rock Band on Expert. And it's super weak. I'd get bored very fast if I walked through the entire guitar/bass campaign on expert.

What impresses me most about Rock Band is that a lot of the songs they're picking are practically out of left field. Sure there are some massively well known ones out there, but it seems very focused on obscure, deep tracks, as opposed to obvious singles.

As for the GH3 vs. RB debate, well, I'm buying both, so who really cares? Enough with the fighting. I'm not rich, but some things are simply worth the savings.

I think Rock Band is mainly for the group experience.
When you have friends over... they might not know the songs.. or be able to have the rhythm or fast fingers as they would need in guitar hero.

it would be cool if they had a Live Cam function that you can see yourself play / sing. LOL

I see what you're saying Tim, I was a definitely not an Expert player on GH2, just decent on Hard. I'll look for a RB video and judge if can be atleast challenging for me on Expert.

I'm mainly getting it for the group experience, people are always at my house and I think they're tired of watching me play Halo lol. Sometimes we'll play bomberman ;)

dang I checked some videos on you tube for Rock Band on Expert, that's not even comparable to Hard in GT2. Hmm...hope they make it more difficult or something.

I actually play music and neither Rock Band nor the GH series appeals to me in any way, but I can definitely see the appeal for people who don't actually play in a band.

Truth be told I suck at Guitar Hero, but but but its because I know some of the songs on actual guitar and the buttons they wanted me to push were not where the real notes are. It was, in fact, quite counter intuitive and, yes, shameful.

hmm,I just can't understand why many people don't like The Outlaws, overall I think the song is a great choice...has some of the best guitar the outlaws have ever produced, and it's quite long too at almost 10 minutes in length (at least the regular version). Now I'd just like to see some petty and chicago on the list.
