Today, high atop their magically wondrous marketing soapbox, EA made the
announcement that the high octane crash fest
Burnout Paradise will be releasing to retailers on January 22nd, 2008. EA also confirmed that a
Burnout Paradise demo will be available on the XBLM before the game's January release and is tentatively scheduled for sometime in December. Go ahead, put your cash down, lock in your pre-order and wait patiently. An open and free roaming
Burnout awaits your play in a few months.

this is what burnout needed. i saw the demo from one of the devs and there's no loading time at all while driving around the burnout world. the half life guys could learn a thing or too from burnout. and they're both EA...

Foggy Bottoms, EA may have published both games, but certainly did not develop them. Burnout is by Criterion Games, Half-Life is by Valve.

i realize that. i'm simply commenting on the disparity of quality between games being developed and funded under the same company. it would be like you paying two different people to whittle a dildo to stick up your butt and one of them made it nice and smooth and another made it splintery, yet you used both of them.

I wonder if EA will cheap out and release a French-prominent version to all of Canada again like they did with ToB

The load times in HL2 on 360 are a max of like 6 seconds long if that. I can't imagine being bothered by it, although I did notice that IGN was claiming they were sometimes a minute in length lol.
Plus HL2, particularly Orange Box, is an excellent and obviously well developed title. I could cite one issue with any game and I'm sure Burnout Paradise will have its own problems.

What? Burnout. Problems. What's this blasphemy you speak of? Burnout can do no wrong. I'd have Burnout's crash baby if it were at all possible.
Problems occur in everything, including Burnout, but I choose not to see them. When it comes to Burnout, I'm all blue pill baby. Red pill's are reserved for everything else.

I love burnout.
I hope the achievements are a little more reasonable this time around.

Love Burnout and am very looking forward to picking this up.
I thought the achievements were quite reasonable for Burnout Revenge.
As for the load times in HL2, you do realize it's a port of a game that was made several years ago, whereas Burnout Paradise is a new game made for this generation. My guess is that if Valve made HL2 today they could probably do it without load times.

don't get me wrong, guys, i'd be playing tf2 right now if i wasn't writing a paper. i merely poked fun at valve for load times you'd expect to see 5 years ago, i think EA sports games are less than desirable and feel like i can criticize them since i've paid them hundreds of dollars throughout the years.

I am sorta interested in the fact that alot of game journalists are sayiing this is the first multi platform game that actually does look better on the PS3, and uses the open internet functionality better as well. It's not like I'm gonna wait until I get a PS3 to buy this game (I'm too big a fan of Burnout to wait that long!) but hopefully more publishers don't take this route (and honestly, their just doesn't seem to any except for Unreal Tournament III so I'm not that worried)

Foggy: don't backtrack. you're right. the loading for HL2 in the middle of play was horrible. it took you out of the game and was distracting to say the least. i don't care if it's a port of an old game. the constant loading was annoying and should've been fixed w/the port. additionally, tf2 is unplayable. i really love the game but you can rarely play, even in an 8 or 12 player, without lag. on top of that tf2 has locked up my 360 eight or nine times where all i can do is hit the power button to reset it. as a side note, the whittle comparison was hilarious. =]

I heard that they took out the crash portion (or whatever its called) for Paradise. That's what stood out for me w/ the Burnout series. I'll get the demo, but won't be buying the game.
What features will now make this different than any other racing game? (serious ? not just trolling) Thanks
