Reminder: play undead Halo 3, get achievements

Just a quick Halloween reminder. Today (and today only) Bungie is hosting a special Halloween playlist on Halo 3. It's an all Infection playlist, because, you know, today is all about zombies. The various members of X3F are likely to be playing some today, so be on the lookout for us and feel free to send invites our way. Oh, and don't forget that multiplayer achievements are active in the Living Dead playlist. You should probably also be aware that the default secondary weapon for humans in the Spartan Laser. So yeah, that should help you nab that Two For One achievement in no time. We managed to do it on our first game today. No, seriously. Happy Halloween fanboys, and happy hunting. Oh, and remember: the zombies always win.

Its not impossible to get the achievements in Lone Wolves, but its hard, aye.

I'm stuck on the Mongoose one. I rolled over a guy, killing him, and it didn't give me a splatter, because the roll was induced by him, thanks to a wonderfully placed brute shot, which flipped me, catching his skull and forcibly removing his head with the front end of my mongoose.

It looks cool on video, but at no time would I say it was due to skill.

Well I don't have Halo 3 and dont know when i'll be getting it, why? Because I'm still loving Bioshock, Orange Box and yes even my beloved Gears, but it looks like i'm missing out on getting some of those harder multiplayer Cheevs. Good work though bungie, gotta love developers that think like gamers!!!
Also if anyone cares to please convince me why I need to rush to the store and get Halo 3. I know there's forger and the saved game videos but is there anything about the actual games play that I will never get from the afore mentioned games?

The rush is over, and I won't try to convince you, but I'll answer your question in comparison to the mentioned games.

Gears - 4 vs 4 only, can't play ranked matchmaking with friends, host advantage not in issue in H3, no vehicles, way more gametypes
Bioshock - no multiplayer, period.
Orange Box - Way more gametypes, battles on a grand scale (vehicles included)

Overall, like you said yourself, Bungie is uber awesome. They constantly make adjustments to the matchmaking, new maps, special events, etc. Besides, their stat tracking is a nice feature, whether you're improving your rank or skill. All that, and I never mentioned saved films or forge like you posted.

Make your decision ;)

I suck at halo 3 and i got the 2 for 1 lazer kill legit. LOL I was playing this online last night, its fun. But the last game people were crying to get achievements, that was lame. Thats why they are called achievements, you should earn them, not have people help and give them to you.

I tried some last night, no achievements unlocked yet but I will be trying later on tonight. The only map I played with the forged Pit where you start off with shotgun/laser. quite the weird combo. and the enemies (zombies) are invisible in the playlist I played. zombies get hammer

Ah! I tried over and over again to start a game on that gametype last night, and even though there were over 20,000 people playing it, it never found any people (well, it found 2 people one time)! It just kept timing out... :( All the other matchmaking playlists i tried worked just fine, but zombies? Nooo! :(

Thanks for the response TORO, you actually said the main thing I think i'm missing out on with Halo 3 and thats the Grand Scale Battles. I still love GOW though, people can say what they want about the broken multiplayer - I love it!
But i probably will head out on the weekend and pick up Halo, I just feel like i'm doing something wrong by being a huge gamer and not owning it yet!

I went home on break today to play. I changed my armor color to Orange (primary), Brown (secondary) in the spirit of Halloween. It is just cool to have something different for a special ocasion, but it does get old fast.

MDJ2010, I'm not sure what you consider "grand scale battles", but under the Social Playlists of matchmaking in Halo 3 there are "Big Team Battles" which are 8x8. 16 players on a map at once is pretty amazing IMHO.

I couldn't seem to get that damn 2 for 1, even in a couple of games where I only used the spartan laser, and tried to stay back until there were plenty of targets. I did get Steppin' Razor though, another one that I wasn't looking forward to trying to get. Gotta love everyone bunching up in small rooms with two entrances, and only guarding one of them.
I really enjoyed the Save One Bullet games, as the invisible zombies from the creeping types just annoyed me... as did all the people who seemed to view the game as achievement time, organizing groups of people to kill for the Overkill achievement, and the other trickier ones.
