Come one, come all for a Rock Band unboxing

The WIRED Blog crew received an early copy of Rock Band recently (with the elephant sized box it came in) and decided to unbox the big guy for all to see. And after skimming through the unboxing pictures we realized a few things. First off, we truly realized how unusually large and girthy the box is when compared to an already big GHII box. We can almost guarantee there will be Rock Band box fort pictures popping up on the internet soon after release. The second thing we noticed was the sheer amount of cables, plugs, adapters and cords for all the game's peripherals. Big no-no Rock Band, we love ourselves wireless. But you're new to the game, so we'll let you off the hook this once. The final thing we noticed was the sheer amount of individually wrapped craziness going on. Bags, boxes, straps, paper ... it's like the packaging gods were on a mission to destroy the planet when they created this thing. Anyhoo, check out more pictures after the jump and allow yourself to dream of your own unboxing session that'll go down in a few weeks. Oh, and be sure to line up a dumpster rental too.

Better to be excessively packaged than poorly packaged (Halo 3 Limited Edition anyone?).

Just to give people a heads up. Some people have been finding Walmarts that have these out on the shelves for sale as of today. It's very YMMV and mainly it's PS3 versions people are seeing, but a few 360 versions have been seen as well.
Don't flame me about it being false.

Could someone please answer my simple question which I've asked in practically every Rock Band thread ever:
Does it come with just one guitar or two?

Why is the unboxing of something so interesting?

Even if there were wireless portions, my understanding is that they were only doing it for the guitars on the PS3. Every one is stuck plugging stuff in, unfortunately... although I suppose it's somewhat understandable for some of these.
Also, I can't believe some of the comments on the Wired site. They need to moderate more.

It comes with one guitar.

I don't need the dumpster...I hate tossing out original packaging like this. I'll keep it in storage in case I move or something.
Fine! I'm a pack rat when it comes to this stuff. There I said it!

It has been proven that any boxes of Rock Band currently floating around are the "Demo" versions with the Drums that have no kick pedals and the game is only a demo version of the game. HMXSean has a post over at the official Rockband forums. Be aware of any scams or misunderstandings people.

Since I'm the one that set it up in my local walmart, I know Rockband is not for sale there. We dont even have stock of it yet, and I highly doubt any other walmart has stock since they wont ship us any until about a week before the release date. But yeah, about 1200 different walmarts will have a live Rockband demo by Friday. Its setup with a PS3, a 26" HDTV (thats actually at head height so you're not straining your neck for once), A wired guitar and the wired drums w/o the pedal. Oh yeah, and a demo of the game. Still nice to be able to see it in action and try it out.

How the fuck is it "Rock Band" with just one guitar? The box art has four fucking people on it? It's not "Power Trio" it's Rock Band! How am I supposed to get a second guitar for the bass tracks if it only comes in the bundle? LAME!
Jess Q. @ Nov 4th 2007 1:43AM
Sweet jesus, countless bands have only one single guitarist. The White Stripes don't have a bassist at all. You could probably buy a used Guitar Hero guitar for cheap from someone selling crap to buy their own version of Rock Band and it would be a more accurate bass guitar with less "strings" than the main Rock Band guitar.
REAL guitars and mics have wires and cords. You are all spoiled with wireless, and this comes from someone with many wireless peripherals.
Also, there's online multiplayer. There's your four people that are on the box.
God, I didn't think it was possible for someone to complain that Rock Band didn't come with ENOUGH stuff, but apparently I was wrong. It doesn't come with a Shetland pony, either; what douchebags! They should have forseen my need for a pony. WITHOUT WIRES.
Eyeroll.
