Ghostbusters game official, full cast returning

Hey, remember all the hullabaloo earlier this year about the Ghostbusters game? Well, put on your proton packs because the Ghostbusters game is now official. No, it's not the Zootfly created prototype that started this mess, but rather an entirely new project created by Sierra (most recently known for TimeShift). According to Variety, Vivendi -- Sierra's parent company -- forked over a gargantuan sum to purchase the license from Sony. The game is scheduled to release in the fall of 2008.
But all of that malarkey is just an hors d'oeuvre for the real news: nearly the entire cast of the films has signed on to reprise their roles in the game, including their voices and likenesses. That's Bill "Pete" Murray, Harold "Egon" Ramis, Ernie "Winston" Hudson, and Dan "Ray" Aykroyd. Not only that, but several supporting characters will be returning as well, including Annie Potts as Janine. Aykroyd and Ramis will be writing the story for the game as well.

Do you mean Bill "Pete" Murray?
Richard Mitchell @ Nov 15th 2007 4:23PM
Damn it. I caught that before I published it too. Forgot.
Ah, well. Fixed.

This has GOTY written all over it. lol.

Sounds interesting. Not sure if the name is worth dropping a mint on (I don't believe The Godfather or Scar Face sold amazingly, and they are pretty big movies), but the fact that they brought the cast back and have people who know the story writing the game means it could be pretty good stuff. Good luck Sierra.

This is great! I loved the Ghostbusters when I was a child.
The "Stay Puff" Marshmallow Man better be a boss or I will be PISSED.
Wilson @ Nov 15th 2007 4:55PM
I shall preorder this game ASAP and if Aykroyd is writing this, he might even use the plot for the third movie that never was.
Ghostbusters in hell.
Etchasketchist @ Nov 15th 2007 4:56PM
Ghostbusters was one of the first games I ever played when I was a kid. I had it for my Atari 5200 and it made zero sense back then even though I played the crap out of it. I had no clue what I was supposed to do but it ruled nonetheless.
MDB @ Nov 15th 2007 4:58PM
LOL, I love the old atari games that didn't even make sense and had no obvious goal or objectives.
ET anyone?

If there's no Rick Moranis there's no hope for this game!

I remember playing Ghostbusters I and II for NES. I tried to beat I forever. And now that I've seen AVGN's review of it, I can see how rediculous it was.
ginnaaah @ Nov 15th 2007 7:42PM
right, as far as ive heard its going to be a new script....... and thats about it. lol but imagine the possibilities? fps, online co-op with 3 other people, timed mode with teams of 4 all going at once, person who busts the most ghosts in the time limit the winner, driving sections, new york city as your domain...... this has the chance to be an all time great game...... i so want this to pay off! grew up on this and turtles and they made a complete hash of the 2nd one lol

The prototype from January was hotness...they need to give zootfly the development reins on this one.
Ghostbusters was THE FIRST game I had for my first computer. I used to play that game to death. All you did was trap slimers for an hour or so until all the ghosts started running to the temple.
The Genesis game was the same formula but more fleshed out. I never played the arcade game, but think it would make a good XBLA download.
