360 predicted to outsell PS3 2 to 1 this holiday
Using the super factual NPD software sales numbers, various market indicators and a pinch of black magic, the analysts over at simExchange released their predictions for the holiday video game hardware sales. And 360 sales are predicted to be fantastic.SimExchange is estimating that, from now through the end of the year, Xbox 360 hardware sales will double that of the Playstation 3, moving 2 million consoles compared to the PS3's 1 million. And those estimates even take into account the PS3's recent price drop. W00t! But the holidays won't be completely Xbox green this year, because the Wii juggernaut is expected to take home the blue ribbon with sales estimates hovering around the 3 million mark. But if you're a firm believer of the "next-gen" war being between the Xbox 360 and PS3 then you can safely claim victory ... or at least claim analyst numbers victory.

Hell, as long as third party software continues to sell strongest on 360 I doubt it'll hurt much for any of us lol.
B1663r @ Nov 16th 2007 11:45AM
It is over already. No more fanboyism is needed. The only thing left is for the suckers to have their money extracted from them. To wii fanboys and ps3 fanboys chagrin, Xbox is here to stay, and NOTHING is going to change that.
We will continue to have the best games. We will continue to have the best online, we will continue to have the best warranty.
The other two really only offer a sore shoulder and a raw ass.
Game over newbs.
Boff @ Nov 16th 2007 11:53AM
Good to hear the 360 is managing to scrape through the xmas season ;o)
@2: Nice line about the shoulder! Red Steel anyone? Only played it once on my mate's boy's Wii, the ache was worse than the first time I played Time Crisis!
aBs @ Nov 16th 2007 11:53AM
What B1663r said.
Cant wait for Ninja Gaiden II.
thisguyrighthere @ Nov 16th 2007 12:00PM
I almost bought a PS3 after the price drop but when I was looking at the library of games and realized I had no strong desire (at least not a $400 desire) to play any of them I passed on the idea.
Maybe I'll get one in a year or two.
JJ @ Nov 16th 2007 12:06PM
Well thats good that the 360 has the software wrapped up...because lord knows the Wii willc ontinue its worldwide dominance this holiday season.
its amazing what a 250 price point and mario can do for your system sales...
Granted i haven't touched my Wii in a while (Too wrapped up in my 360/PS3 games) but still... i gotta say i'm honestly surprised by how well the wii is performing hardware wise, if not software wise.
IncredibleBulk92 @ Nov 16th 2007 12:07PM
OMG the only people who should care about numbers and predictions like this are people who have a financial stake in Sony/MS/Nintendo. I'm nearly certain that everyone who posts on this post will not.
However, hundred of fanboys supporting both sides of so called "console war" will read it and post on message boards everywhere why X is better then Y. Then after Christmas there will be another post about 1 of the consoles selling slightly more which will also spread about the internet like wildfire.
At the end of the day tho only real losers will be the ones desperately clinging to these numbers. The multi-billion corporations that build the thing under your tv still won't care about you, and they'll still have got your money.
JJ @ Nov 16th 2007 12:12PM
Well bulk i liken the console wars to the brand wars when it comes to purchasing cars (Ford is the best, Chevy rules all...etc,etc) the only difference is... people have WAY more invested in their automobile than their console of choice... Either way it IS a pointless battle on all fronts. Because not one brand (or console) will be the end all be all for everyone.
Knight Marquise @ Nov 16th 2007 12:38PM
Hmmm...I thought my shares of Microsoft made me a "part owner" of the corporation......damn straight I want to see my investment grow, and having the games division finally start to show a profit rather then being a drain on the rest of the company helps, thusly my support for the xbox as well.
Tony @ Nov 16th 2007 12:41PM
On some level it is of interest to anyone who buys a console simply because these numbers help dictate whether or not companies will even bother to continue supporting the system in question. Do people not remember the GameCube?
At the same time, games are a hell of a lot more fun when I don't concern myself with this junk and just play what I like... This is quite difficult since every site in the world seems to post numbers now.
Bravo6 @ Nov 16th 2007 12:47PM
I'm as surprised as anybody that the Wii continues to do so good. I bought a Wii (When my 360 was being repaired) And I played it for about 2 weeks, it was just more of a novelty thing for me I guess, I don't think I've touched it once wine getting my 360 back.
kp @ Nov 16th 2007 12:51PM
I know i'll be buying a 360 pretty soon. not for me, but for my brother. he lives a few hundred miles away though...so now i just have to figure out how to get it out there to him...hmmmmm....
TORO @ Nov 16th 2007 12:54PM
I'm happy with my 360, there are so many games to play it's ridiculous ;)
mike @ Nov 16th 2007 1:01PM
whats funny about the wii is so many people buy it, purchase like one game and thats it. With the 360 people buy so many games. Attach rate is so much higher. My brother oens 1 game for his wii since launch (mario strikers). I own 19 games for my 360 since launch. And this is a similar trend.
Even if there were 30 million wiis sold and only 10 million xbox 360s, developers would still have their games sold better on the 360. Im pretty sure most developers all ready know this from current numebrs, which is why I dont care if the wii sells so well because the games will still be coming to the 360. Not to mention the wii cant even pull off the type of games the 360 can. Sorry but I didnt spend $3000 on an HDTV only to play a wii which is makes my tv look like crap with its standard defenition output. Hell im already waiting for next gen so I can get 1080p graphics from all my games.

"We will continue to have the best games. We will continue to have the best online, we will continue to have the best warranty."
It's to bad that Microsoft took their time announcing the extended warranty. I am about to be on my 3rd Xbox. If MS could make a reliable product they would not need to extend the warranty to 3 years. Granted I am glad they did but I wish it came a little bit sooner. I do agree with your other points B1663r, but come on if they made a console like Nintendo makes one they would not even need a warranty on the system... BTW I am pretty sure PS3 will have some games maybe some day and NG2 looks awesome. Oh and whoever thought MS was going to leave the market or something is crazy they are just now finally making money. I am pretty sure as stated from the other posts the only people that should really care about the numbers are the share holders/investers.
useedems @ Nov 16th 2007 2:00PM
The 360 has a big warranty because Europe threatened to sue due to the ridiculous failure rate. You'd think that by now they would have removed the failboat component.
Good sales means more software, it's a win for everyone.
Thegameaddicts1111 @ Nov 16th 2007 5:11PM
Why do you all like the 360 so much? As a owner of all the ps3 and the 360 i think the ps3 is better. I liked the 360 more but i am on my 5th 360 so i bought a ps3. I immeadiately fell in love. Yea the 360's good but look the ps3 is better. The only 2 areas where ppl say the 360 beats the ps3 are online and games. i can undersand online but hey its getting better and i think it will eventually pass the 360.Look at it,frequent updates,HOME,Demos and next year its getting a music and video store, Tournaments. What more can u want? And secondly games. I hate this statement because it is not true. Come let me list some games (2007 -2008) Assassin's Creed, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Grand Theft Auto IV,
Need for Speed ProStreet, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Resistance: Fall of Man, Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Unreal Tournament 3, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Final Fantasy XIII, Heavenly Sword, Haze, FIFA Soccer 08, Devil May Cry 4, Warhawk , Final Fantasy Versus XIII, The Eye of Judgment, SOCOM: Confrontation, Folklore, Soulcalibur IV, The Simpsons Game, MotorStorm, Tekken 6, Time Crisis 4, Army of Two, Killzone 2, Stranglehold, Dynasty Warriors 6, The Orange Box, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Burnout Paradise, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, LittleBigPlanet, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, SingStar, FIFA Street 3, Metal Gear Online AND i can go on.Yea some are not exclusive but if you all think the ps3 still has no good games then I dont know what MS has done to you. The price is a none point and ill draw it out to you. PS3 40gb =$399 Xbox 360 =$349 BUT + Wifi= $100, HDD =$200 it has already become more expensive. Conclusion Ps3 is better than the 360. Forgive me for my English I recently learn english.
ccc @ Nov 16th 2007 3:18PM
The only thing I have to say to this blog is, no shit. Except I don't know about the ps3 selling a million a month but whatever.
Keep in mind though MS is not invincable yet.
Its the little gay things they do that risk them loosing everything they have.
Like this Xbox original downloading bullshit.
Only MS can take a fantastic idea and completly fuck it up.
Just like achievements and gamerscore.
The latest rage in gamming but MS seems to do nothing with it.
To add to this MS has been making gamers change thier names due to the fact that the names are considered "offensive".
I have had to friends on my list forced to change thier names due to this. And thier names were........ A Broken Trojan and DeathKlock. WTF MS?
If they try to Disney up xbox live they will find very quickly the hardcore gamers will abandon this machine and Sony will take them Creed style, thats with arms wide open.

@18
Of all the games you mentioned that were any good, guess what, they are on the 360 already and they look better not to mention have a better online service available. Like COD4. Warhawk is a dissapointing pile of garbage.
And as far as MGS4 goes lets see what it gets rated first off, then lets see how much replay value it has. PS3 is hurting so bad they can only try to imatate what MS has already done interms of online functions and even achievements, or, I'm sorry, trophies. How gay is that? If you have both and your buying it on ps3 when it's available for 360 well, your just stupid.
badarsemother3k @ Nov 16th 2007 7:48PM
I had been considering buying a ps3 in December but after adding up the exclusive games I wanted...the grand total was 4.I'll just stick with Wii60 until at least next year. Live is superior to home and besides why would you want to buy music for your ps3. I will stick with the zune marketplace thank you very much.
Cash @ Nov 16th 2007 8:07PM
I believe it. These last few months have been a perfect storm of title releases for the 360. Bioshock, Halo 3, The Orange Box, and CoD4 are all sitting on top of my 360 at the moment, soon to be joined in four days by Mass Effect. I haven't picked up that many games in less then three months ever since I started buying them for myself. Last year we got Gears, and I was happy... this year I'm so content I could just sh*t :-p
If MS released DivX playback in the December 4th update, I'm gonna freakin' OD.
Ray @ Nov 16th 2007 11:23PM
This is going to sound like a PS3 Fanboy probably b ut I'm not I have owned and loved systems from many companies (even 3DO) and this is just my opinion
I have to agree with the guy who prefers the PS3 over his 360. I love my 360 but it is a typical unreliable MS product. What saves the 360 IMO is it's already big library of games and developers like EA who are too lazy to learn how to develop for a new platform like the PS3.
While the PS3 may not have many exclusives out now, Heavenly Sword and Uncharted are both my type of games and not available anywhere else. Even Lair with it's steep learning curve is fun. Plus it was cool to have a HD Disc (Blu Ray of course) player already installed in it which also allows for bigger game worlds to be greated down the road (or great sound as is the case with Heanly Sword)
I have never been a HALO fan so that whole part of the 360 universe is lost on me but I did love Bioshock.
Having my PS3 since close to launch and playing it often, it has not failed me yet; which unfortunately is not true of my 360 which has failed me a few times. Even my Wii has perform great despite being used by the whole family and friends, not just me.
As for buying a game on the 360 just because of achievements, I play a game for myself, not to impress others so I could care less. I bought Assassin's Creed for my PS3 instead of the 360 for the sake that it supposedly has a slightly better framerate on the PS3, plus I trust my PS3 to keep on working long enougth to enjoy it.
I will still buy 360 games of course (Mass Effect looks great, plus a couple others on the horizon,) but the hardware will always make me worry about my purchases. I really wish MS would fix the woes with the 360 already, as it's lack of longevity will cost it the war in the end.
h0mi @ Nov 17th 2007 4:11PM
I own both. I prefer my 360. Several of my friends have bought 360s and a few more are more likely to do so than to get a ps3. If they ever get a ps3, its for blu-ray.
