Too bad the patch doesnt include fun. Cause CoD4 isnt.
Urza @ Nov 17th 2007 12:45PM
It's not? I've got more people on my friends list playing CoD4 then Halo 3. How odd is that.
ryansurfer @ Nov 17th 2007 12:46PM
I guess Brian isn't very good at Call of Duty 4. This is one of the most fun games I've played in a long time and am happy they're adding these changes.
SinFULMX @ Nov 17th 2007 12:50PM
COD4 kick Halo3´s ass.
Carl Busby @ Nov 17th 2007 12:59PM
COD 4 kills Halo... I traded halo and will never play that online again. COD is absolutely outstanding and hopefully will get GOTY. This update is welcome and cant wait for more DLC and tweaks...
David W. @ Nov 17th 2007 1:05PM
how about fixing headquarters? I've seen a few too many 250-0 games, it seems like the game is biased to the team that is winning. It spawns the team that just captured right on top of the headquarters, meanwhile the attacking team has to run all the way across the map, at which point headquarters is already captured.
ragingtofu @ Nov 17th 2007 1:15PM
Guys, guys! There's an easy explanation for the Halo 3 vs. CoD 4 debate.
Both games suck!
Glad I could clear things up, and if you don't appreciate the sarcasm, I'm sorry to hear that.
resdog @ Nov 17th 2007 1:37PM
sounds like someone has a case of the mondays

I love Halo 3, but I am getting sick and tired of hearing screaming little children in my ear. COD4 is starting to edge up in the fun department. I have yet to have a match where I am subjected to the whaling of a prepubescent
child. That said, I still cannot wait until the new Halo 3 maps arrive. It's almost all good.
Dante Sparda @ Nov 17th 2007 2:25PM
Both Halo 3 and COD4 are great games. If I had to chose one I would choose Halo 3 because the story and single player is so much better.
OBM @ Nov 17th 2007 2:30PM
COD4 > Halo 3, simple..
Anyway, hope the lobby bugs are really fixed, sick of having a party then we join a game and some people don't get in. Also wouldn't have hurt that when you leave a game you can bring your party with you if need be.
inferno3387 @ Nov 17th 2007 2:41PM
Are they going to fix the problem about the leader of the party leaving the room, and the members staying in there? Why do we have to tell the other members of our part that we are leaving? It should just kick all of us that are part of the party back with the leader of the party instead of leaving us in there!
BluesmanTLU @ Nov 17th 2007 2:56PM
I was hesitant to pick up COD4 because Halo 3 is still pretty fresh and the COD4 single player is short AND Mass Effect comes out on Tuesday, but I'm glad I did. I beta'ed, so I knew the multiplayer was great, but the single player is incredible thus far.
And many, many fewer squeaky voices in the multiplayer lobbies. I don't know what's wrong with kids nowadays, because I had a deep voice at about age 10. And if I DID sound like my balls had yet to drop, I wouldn't be advertising my squeaky voice to everyone.
erivera3 @ Nov 17th 2007 3:07PM
COD4's single player is wayyyy too linear; I hate having to wait every minute for one of my stupid AI teammates to come and open a door for me. It is one locked off battle after another, and the AI is not very good unfortunately.
The multiplayer, however, is some of the most fun I've ever had (almost as fun as Halo 3, except host problems and no vehicles makes it a little less fun for me). Hopefully the patch and patches to come fix the little problems and help make this game even more fun to play on LIVE.
Brucie B @ Nov 17th 2007 3:09PM
Good Job Brian Fantana You are Officially a Dumb@zz!
Jeff Holland @ Nov 17th 2007 3:42PM
@BluesmanTLU: Funny you should mention that. In sixth grade my voice was deeper than some of the "high-schoolers" and "college students" on live. Of course, that's generally the thing people first notice about me. "Oh my god, are you a Sasquatch?" Sorry about the tangent, I just think people sound like idiots on XBL
(myself included. I sound like a total douche.)
JohnHeist @ Nov 17th 2007 3:40PM
vehicles would make this game suck. Every game doesn't need vehicles.
I've been wrapped up in Mass Effect, but found some time the past two days to get back on COD4 and totally tear things up, that game is wicked fun online.
Of course then I went back to Mass Effect though.
vid33nyc1 @ Nov 17th 2007 3:44PM
A much needed patch. And yes they need to fix a few of the problems in headquarters
Peter @ Nov 17th 2007 3:51PM
@5^ I couldn't agree with you more bro. I had fun with Halo 3 for maybe a week. Traded it in for COD4. I couldn't be happier.
kpizzle @ Nov 17th 2007 4:31PM
what i really wish they would add is more custom classes. let me change the preset classes they have too, i never use them, always use my own. there are some many variations to toy with let me have more custom classess already!
c. veck @ Nov 17th 2007 4:35PM
These fixes will be more than welcome, and I very much appreciate that kids aren't getting a hold of this game... Although last night I played a 7-year-old in the UK... he called me a wanker.
erivera3 @ Nov 17th 2007 4:40PM
Little kids aren't ALWAYS the problem. Oftentimes it's college age guys talking random shit or singing random stupid songs and talking trash, and that DEFINITELY exists in this type of game. Little kids just have annoying voices.
Dragod @ Nov 17th 2007 5:49PM
Halo 3 is fun.
Call of Duty 4 is fun.
I wish every FPS shooter didn't always divide everyone into "Halo" or "Anything but Halo". Halo is an amazing game, but you need variety. That's why I have 10 or 11 games. I play Halo, I play Call of Duty. I'm just sick of hearing "CoD4 sucks" in Halo, and "Halo sucks" in CoD4.
Placeman @ Nov 17th 2007 8:19PM
What the heck is N0M4D?
Eddy @ Nov 18th 2007 9:11AM
@20
I agree. They need more custom classes. I'm a 38 so i just got overkill perk, but even with that, i feel th eneed for more custom classes. OORR, at least let you choose the weapons for the default classes.
@24
Yea wut is N0M4D? a lefty scheme or something?
This game is amazing.best i've played all year. the maps will bring me back to Halo 3 yea, but in the ned I'll just tire of them after about a few days and go back to the GoTY...well uptil now, Mass Effect is around the corner!
jorgiex @ Nov 18th 2007 3:24PM
I traded in my HALO3 Legendary in for CoD4..this is by far the best XBL game available, PERIOD....!
Tevaburns @ Nov 19th 2007 2:09PM
Why not give us an update for co-op
Boff @ Nov 18th 2007 8:21PM
This patch is needed. I've enjoyed both Halo 3 and COD4 but while I prefer COD4's multiplayer, it needs more detailed stat tracking and the like. Bungie have got that side of things nailed. There's just so many extras to the online side of Halo and for the most part the matchmaking is smooth as silk.
Zurich @ Nov 19th 2007 9:12AM
I would love advance stats, but my main gripe is custom classes on split screen! Please! The preset classes are all useless to me, and since I don't get to play online as much as split screen because my friends are always around, I'd kill to have custom classes. It'd make our games much deeper. Why have a game with like 60+ weapons but only have like 10-15 available in that mode?
A boy can dream, I guess.
TORO @ Nov 19th 2007 11:25AM
I'm not bored with teh Hal0z, so I don't see a reason for me to buy COD4 yet. Unless it goes on sale...
DjDATZ @ Nov 19th 2007 12:16PM
I'm kinda with Toro...I bought COD4 last week along with AC (it was a bundle and a steal...) and the most interacting with the game that I've done so far was open the case, take off the sticker, stick it onto the inside of the box (cuz I do that with all my authenticity labels), and read the manual...all while I was on the bus to school. Right now it's sitting on my shelf collecting dust. And will for a while to come...Mass Effect is coming tomorrow. That'll sit Assassin's Creed down, as well as my copy of Halo 3 that I play regularly. Mass Effect will rule my 360 until I get through the story once, at which point I'll probably sit it down and hit up AC.
When I'm done ME and AC, I'll play COD4. Plus the vast majority of my friends list is playing Halo 3, and not COD4...so yea.
Yes, I know I'll get flamed for having COD4 but not playing it yet.
J @ Nov 19th 2007 6:22PM
I'm not necessarily trying to talk trash, but after all of the CoD4 comments being left on Halo posts, I figured that I would add my .02 here because I rented CoD4 and I guess I'm just missing something.
The campaign was somewhat cool and intense. It only took a few hours (which turned out perfect for the rental), but was missing the feeling that the fast edits in the bad ass commercials teased me into thinking it would be like. The screen shots showing the individual blades of grass were what really intrigued me, but fell kind of flat when I realized that it was only on that one particular level that they show up in such detail.
When I was finished w/ the Campaign, I went online and I actually heard more little kids than I do on halo3, although they were british-sounding, which made it a little more interesting. The maps and modes weren't very intuitive and teammates wouldn't communicate like they seem to in Halo3.
It also seemed that I had to "earn" the (scopes of) weapons that I got used to using in the Campaign mode by beating people who already had those weapons which seemed to make it pretty unbalanced and frustrating when I could see the replay of my death through the scope that I wanted.
After comments about how great the multiplayer is, I realize that maybe I am missing something because I probably just suck or had bad luck with the matchmaking so I am about 50-50 split on renting it again, but it will require seeing a lot more to convince me that something is separating it from the past WWII CoD's, other than the locale and time-period.
And so, in the spirit of things, I will end by saying something divisive, but honest: Going back to Halo3 online after playing CoD4 was like the rush of getting a shot of strait up heroin after a few fixes of the methodone that is CoD4 (or what I can imagine that being like, anyway).
Peace and whatnnot,
J

COD4 MW is xBox 360 heaven for me. I go to sleep thinking about it, wake up thinkning about it, spend all day thinking about it, spend all evening playing it, keep the tweaks/fixes/changes/additions coming IW!
