Amazon.com may sell limited amount of $99 360s
Amazon.com is bringing back their holiday Customers Vote Program this year, where they pit three product deals against eachother and have customers vote on which they want. And this year they want to know which gaming offer is more popular, a $79 Wii, a $139 PS3 (40GB) or a $99 Xbox 360 Arcade. And since this is X3F, our vote and cash goes towards the uber cheap Xbox 360. So, this is how it works. Only one super-discounted-deal will "win" and be offered. To figure that out simply head over to this page, click the "Get started" button, sign into your Amazon.com account and place your customer vote on whichever you choose (ahem, Xbox 360). Then, later in the week, all the votes will be tallied and the winning product will be discounted to its "Winning Price" on November 22nd. It's quite simple. Oh, but there's one other wrench in your $99 Xbox 360 plan ... the consoles will be limited. Even if the Xbox 360 Arcade wins in the votes and becomes $99 there will only be 1,000 consoles made available for purchase. So, you'll have to be hella' quick on the Amazon.com ordering come Thursday. You've got the game plan, now go get 'em!

I have absolutely no doubt that the Wii will win this, deserving or no. But I'd buy a $79 dollar Wii, so eh.
David @ Nov 18th 2007 12:20PM
It says on the page amazon will randomly select people who voted for the winning item and email them a link to buy the item no more page crashing.
Charles @ Nov 18th 2007 2:13PM
It will not matter if you are "hella" quick. The 1000 systems will be randomly offered to voters who chose the winner. This is most likely to keep their servers up for other customers to do their thing while this goes on, unlike last year when everyone nearly crashed the internets trying to get at a $100 XBox.
Wii will be the winner easily. I wouldn't mond an $80 Wii myself.
Mr Cool @ Nov 18th 2007 1:06PM
^I remember trying to get that uber cheap 360 last year...
It was almost the end of the world when t3h intranetz crashed
joemc72 @ Nov 18th 2007 1:16PM
I actually got one of the 360's Amazon sold last year, but this year I have no doubt the Wii will win. That and the $700 46" 1080p Samsung that's offered as well.
Andrew @ Nov 18th 2007 1:27PM
The Wii will surely win this, in spite of the fact that they could get away with selling their surely limited stock for $279, rather than $79.
Jonah Falcon @ Nov 18th 2007 1:32PM
Check this out:
$99 Arcade + $179 120 GB HD = $268 Elite, since the Arcade has the HDMI port.
elmersglue @ Nov 18th 2007 1:32PM
X3F, I'm disappointed in you. Not only is this news a few days old already, but you didn't even bother getting down the details of it correctly (as everyone else has already mentioned, its a lottery, so you wont need to have a "gameplan"). Oh, and, you article doesn't bother mentioning that the 360 has no chance in hell to win...
Bill @ Nov 18th 2007 1:36PM
Yes, the Wii is already leading votes, followed by the PS3. The 360 has about 19% right now. But I'd probably buy any of them at those prices...
mattclarkie @ Nov 18th 2007 1:57PM
One Trillion Dollars says the Wiii wins.
Jonah Falcon @ Nov 18th 2007 1:58PM
"Second and third place products will be offered at a less discounted price."
You still get a deal if you buy the Arcade.
NuAngel @ Nov 18th 2007 2:25PM
#11 is exactly correct. It's not a 'limited time offer.' It's only open to a randomly selected group of voters. To find out if you're allowed to buy, you have to come back on "buying day" - which, for this deal, is the 22nd.
h0mi @ Nov 18th 2007 2:46PM
Amazon will sell 0 360s at this price because the 360 is losing this contest and losing it badly. But then, it's a bit easier to justify the extra $180 for the 360 than it is to justify the $250 extra on the ps3. And the wii... everyone seems to want one anyway.
Zack @ Nov 18th 2007 3:04PM
I did this last year and '"won" a Core for 100 bucks =). They're doing it a bit differently this time, though. Instead of first come, first serve (which was fucking insane, the server was so slow), they're randomly selecting 1,000 people that voted for that certain product.
violenceinhd @ Nov 18th 2007 3:07PM
I'd LOVE a PS3 for that price. No reason for me to get a Wii because I like playing fun games.
Grant @ Nov 18th 2007 4:06PM
i think thats the price point i'd actually buy a PS3 at!
i mean the games are finally trickling out for it...
but alas, the wii will almost definitely take the cake.
Grant @ Nov 18th 2007 4:08PM
From amazon:
"Round 1 deals will be offered to randomly selected customers on Thursday, Nov. 22 (Pacific time)."
hm, i didn't know that there was a difference between Nov. 22 EST and PST.
David W. @ Nov 18th 2007 4:48PM
I already have a Wii...I already have a 360...I voted for the PS3...what the hell, there might be some games I might want...and what the hell, might as well have a Blue Ray player...I don't think it's reaaaaaaaaally stupid there's no backwards computability though...
BowserUSC @ Nov 18th 2007 5:12PM
thanks to everyone for not reading previous comments and saying the same exact thing about the lottery over and over again.
Also if you look at the price break, the Wii is a better deal then the rest.
jkdoug @ Nov 18th 2007 6:03PM
I voted for the Wii. Question is, though: where are they getting 1,000 Wiis when no one else ever has any in stock? I'm such a sad panda...
Triforceowner @ Nov 18th 2007 6:12PM
I snagged my 360 from them last year. That was great. I voted for the PS3 this year not realizing that I would not be able to snag a Wii. (I suspected the Wii of leading the pack and was right.) So my option is a $300-something PS3 -not worth it.
BananaBoat @ Nov 18th 2007 6:14PM
We all already have 360's, why the hell would we vote for them? Might aswell pick up a cheap PS3, since I'm getting a PS3 anyway. I know that the Wii is going to win though, and since I already have one, and didn't vote for it, it won't do me any good. Oh well
Reuben @ Nov 18th 2007 9:30PM
I tried to get one last year. The internet, however, would have none of it and the website locked up. I was so hyped up from being that close to getting a 360 that I actually went out and bought one at Microcenter which was having a fantastic deal. *sniff)* little guy's almost a year old.
rockeranimefreak @ Nov 18th 2007 10:12PM
November 22 pst is eastern times 3 o clock....
Jigsaw hc @ Nov 18th 2007 10:20PM
I already have a 360. I'd rather get a Wii for $80 than a second 360.
LeChuck @ Nov 18th 2007 11:10PM
The runner-up offer for the 360 Arcade is $219 and for the 40gb PS3 it's $319. Not huge discounts but still pretty good. So it's still worth it to vote for one of those if you want it.
JohnHeist @ Nov 19th 2007 8:13AM
"hm, i didn't know that there was a difference between Nov. 22 EST and PST."
You mean other than the fact that it becomes Nov 22 earlier EST than it does PST? Or Vice-Versa, I'm no good with timezones.
xenocidic @ Nov 19th 2007 8:54AM
@jonah - firstly , it wouldn't be black, second, you forgot to add the price tag for the HDMI cable ($59.99) which is included with the Elite, but not the Arcade.
Cass-D @ Nov 19th 2007 5:45PM
HD-DVD vs. BluRay! OMG do you need more simplistic proof? Vote on round 4 for "go hi def" you have the choice of a BluRay player HD-DVD Player and a Tivo HD. Mind you the HD-DVD and Bluray are priced the same 149.00. Yes out of all the consumers out there that voted 44% said give me an HD-DVD please, 32% thus far have opted for the Tivo. That leaves you guessed it Bluray grabbing a whopping 24%. Now I'm not saying this is a true market survey but damn more people want a Tivo over Bluray. Rock on Tivo and HD-DVD.
