Tomb Raider: Anniversary now on XBLM

Hungry for more tomb raiding? Have you squeezed out every possible ounce of entertainment from Tomb Raider: Legend? Have you suddenly developed an aversion to disc-based media? Well then, do we have a deal for you. Seemingly out of nowhere, the previously promised downloadable version of Tomb Raider: Anniversary is now available on Xbox Live Marketplace. The game has been split into two significantly more than bite-sized chunks, each of which will run you 1200 MS Points or, in the common vernacular, $15. Put them both together and the game costs as much as its PS2 counterpart and actually $10 less than the retail Xbox 360 version. Just make sure you still have a Tomb Raider: Legend disc lying around, as the downloadable Anniversary requires it.

"Just make sure you still have a Tomb Raider: Legend disc lying around, as the downloadable Anniversary requires it."
Does it tell you that before you download it?

Don't worry about having the Tomb Raider disc worry about your console crapping out and being stuck with only being able to play the DLC while hooked up online other wise your screwed. My 9000 pts aren't much fun when you have to play everything connected to live because of crappy consoles.

The original Tomb Raider on my Sega Saturn was a most amazing sight to behold. I remember playing that game and loving every second, except for the times I was stuck for days because I couldnt find the correct lever to pull in a poorly lit corner of a cave somewhere. It truly was an amazing game that raised the bar for its time. If I didnt need the retail disc for TR legends, I would DL this for sure!! I guess Im better off buying the retail Anniversary.

Well crap. I totally would have got this tonight, but I don't have Legend. It was a good game, but it was nothing more than a rental. Why would they limit this to Legend owners? I beat the game in a day. Who even owns it?

I don't get what people are talking about with the problem you brought up. I've seen it echoed on other forums. Is this true for some people?
I replaced my console two months ago after my first one's DVD drive crapped out. When I got it, I simply swapped the hard drive to my new one. I've never had a problem playing my old DLC completely disconnected from Live, or the internet for that matter, on a different console than the original.
So not trying to steer this away from Tomb Raider: Anniversary thing-y but what are you talking about? I've never had this problem and just need some clarification.

This issue is a very big deal, since it affects people that suffered the RROD (1/3 of the 360 owners). As far as I know, MS will repair untis that have faulty disc lens or other hardware, but when it comes to RROD, they just replace the console and god knows what they do to the old ones.
Now, do you know how shitty it is to have bought 30+ arcade games, themes and gamer pics and then find out that you can't use them? Ok, sure I can use them while online, but WTF? I almost never connect my console and I feel robbed by the fact that I can't play all those game I bought.
And I'm not the only person, I assure can easily assure you that.

I don't even understand why people complain about this anymore. Call MS. They KNOW about the issue.
Personally, I RRODed. They sent me a new console. Five days later my HDD died. I waited to get a new one. I had the trial games when not online problem. And I imagine it'd be doubly hard for me given I have new *everything*.
I called MS, they told me several things to do. Luckily for me, one of them actually worked and I don't have to be online for anything I bought previously and I have like 20+ something XBLA games.
If they can't figure it out, they'll have you create a silver account, refund you the points for the games and buy them under that account. They'll work offline for any gamertag on the system.
Instead it seems a lot of people would rather just be upset about it and sit around. I don't understand it.

I just wonder what the achievements are like. That's one of the things were never clear. The retail disk is obviously worth 1000GS points but will each of these downloadable packs be worth 500GS points? If they are not, I don't see what the incentive is to buy them. 1st of all, you need Legend, then you don't get all the achievements that are on the retail disk, and then, if you RRoD... you won't be able to play that content on your new machine... I mean, good luck with that. Oddly enough the retail version came out before the downloadable packs... how weird is that??

I have logged about 6 hours on the phone with MS about the RROD / DRM issue. The only thing they say is that my issue has been elevated and they'll contact me when it has been solved. I've done everything but drive to Redmond and throw my 360 at someone...to no avail. So, here I sit, 2.5 months after my 1st call about the issue...still waiting for a resolution.
Now about Tomb Raider. Both my wife and I loved Legend. It was the 1st 360 game that I made an honest effort to get all the achievements. However, there is no way I'm not buying the disk for Anniversary as the RROD problem is still in effect.

Jeez, that's lame. Since it's DLC, it only has 250 achievement points instead of the 1,000 you get from the retail copy. Plus, I no longer have 100% on TR:Legends because of the DLC. :(
I guess I'll pony up the cash and buy the retail one.

@5...I don't see what the problem is either?
My console died (kept freezing, no RROD) and they sent me a different console back, but I plugged in my hard-drive and I was fine, I can use any of my themes and play any of my games...*shrugs*
KBeat @ Nov 25th 2007 11:49AM
@11 and others who keep saying "they don't know what the problem is it worked fine for them"
The issue only applies if the hard drive was replaced as well. You can pull your hard drive off of your 360 and move it to another system and everything will work just fine. However, if you move your account to a new hard drive, the problems begin. This is true even for people who "upgraded" to the 120 gb drive or the Elite system. They can no longer play their downloaded content unless connected to Live. Very, very lame.

I was over at Circuit City with the last BK coupon that was supposed to be for a $10 gift card but never worked right so it ended up being $10 off a $39.99 game.
TR:Anniversary was $39.99 so the coupon applied and I got it for the same amount of Live points I'd have used. Seemed better long-term...
