In a recent interview with 1UP, Eidos general manager Stephane D'Astous confirmed that Deus Ex 3 is headed to the Xbox 360 ... sort of. Actually, when asked directly about which platforms would be receiving Deus Ex 3, D'Astous responded that "it's next-gen and PC." Given the success of the 360, we're guessing that the 360 is one of the next-gen platforms to which D'Astous was referring. D'Astous spends the rest of the interview discussing Eidos Montreal and allaying the fears of Deus Ex fans. One fear that can't be allayed though: don't expect to see much on the game anytime soon. D'Astous noted that Eidos might have something to show by next summer and also that Deus Ex 3 is being developed under a 24 month development schedule. In other words, it's feasible that Deus Ex 3 might see a 2009 release.
"People that we’ve hired were truly enthused by the first Deus Ex. They know the game by heart. They know what worked and what didn’t work. I think the proof that we’ve done our homework is that our proof of concept was accepted five or six weeks ago on its first pass even with the expectations from the UK set very high. The guys here really worked very hard, and we passed with flying colors. We’re very eager to show all the fans more stuff, but each thing has its timing. We wanted to do the first teaser video, which was done in record time, but we knew we needed to show something. I think it gives a little bit of the look and feel of where we’re going. We obviously don’t want to show everything in the first teaser, but there’s a lot more where that came from."
Actually give the way he stated that it would not be last gen or current gen before stating it was PC and next gen makes me think its actually the NEXT gen, as in after the 360/PS3/Wii. I mean why would they mention last gen otherwise, since that would mean the N64/PSX/SAT? It only makes sense if they use last gen to mean PS2 and current gen to mean 360/PS3/Wii. That and the game is not expected to be done until 2009 by the very earliest.

interesting to see if the whole 'kane & lynch' fiasco will have any backlash on this game and its sales/hype

Will this game be advertised on Gamespot?

Deus Ex is NO Kate and Lynch. Let's all be thankful for that. I look forward to this game whenever it comes out.

Have you actually played Kane & Lynch?

I'd be happy if they just made a remake of the original, but in glorious high-def.

Now if Deus Ex 3 gets a bad review, will someone get fired then too?

I don't think they know what they're saying. (laugh) There will be no PS4 or Xbox 720 in 2009.

Deus Ex 1 was probably one of my top 3 games of all time...here's to hoping they can recapture the magic.
