Rumor: Rock Band gets delayed in Canada again
Poor Canada. You and your music loving residents always seem to get the shaft, especially when it comes to music based video games. We felt sorry for you when we heard that Rock Band's Canadian debut was delayed until December 17th, while your neighbors to the South got their Rock Band fix on November 20th. And now we're hearing that Canada is getting another Rock Band delay. Both Best Buy Canada and Future Shop have the game listed for a December 28th release, which is like another ten days of waiting. We haven't received any official word from Harmonix, EA, or MTV Games, but when they start chirping we'll be sure to pass along the info. Until then, pray fellow Canadians. Pray that your Rock Band doesn't get delayed any further.[Thanks, Rene Frappier]

I think I can hear Knuckels Dawson crying somewhere........hopefully he will find a new fender guitar. Keep up the killer work boys.

Those poor Canadian bastards.
Brian G @ Dec 9th 2007 12:53PM
This sucks almost enough that it makes me uninterested in Rock Band. My excitement level is inversely proportionate to the release date, and when the rest of our continent has had the game long enough that it's no longer the "Hot New Thing", then I'm pretty much over it.
I REALLY wanted to play Rock Band over the holidays, and if that's not an option any longer, it might be time to look at other ways to spend a couple hundred bucks.
chaostheory0982 @ Dec 9th 2007 1:25PM
Yeah, and they raised the price 30 bucks too. I'm pissed!
Matthew @ Dec 9th 2007 1:31PM
It was delayed to the 20th first. Now the 28th. Merry Christmas to all those kids who asked for Rock Band but now won't get it.
Flakundenga @ Dec 9th 2007 1:57PM
i could have gotten rock band b4 movin 2 canada but i thought a couple more weeks would help me get extra money but now that it might not even get here by Christmas. and what sucks even more is that it's gonna be more expensive too since my money is in american dollars which when converted to canadian dollars is less. ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Sky Shark X2 @ Dec 9th 2007 2:23PM
This is all I hear when I read these complaints "Waaaaahh" It got delayed, DEAL WITH IT. Its not the end of the world and if your uninterested because its not the "Hot New Thing", it would be in Canada if that's the only reason why you wanted it or just big reason why then you didn't really want the game and buying a game that you won't play in 3 months. Also think about this, they have discovered that the instruments can be defective, did it ever occur to you that this delay is so they can package the Canadian copies with corrected versions of the instruments? Also lets think about this a 1 one month or so delay is nothing compared to what some of the European nations see so count your blessings.
Brian G @ Dec 9th 2007 4:37PM
We aren't talking about Europe, or somewhere else. We're talking about a region that is literally throwing distance to the region that has it.
We are bombarded with American media on a daily basis. We are pretty much the unofficial 53rd state, but sometimes we wait for things for the most inane of reasons, and there's no consistency to it.
You obviously don't know how frustrating it is not being able to get the "hot new thing" day and date when it comes out in the USA.
If you wait for the "hot new thing" long enough it is no longer hot, nor new, just a thing.
AG @ Dec 9th 2007 4:43PM
I know I'm just lashing out because I'm angry...but I really hope you live in Europe.
Sky Shark X2 @ Dec 9th 2007 5:13PM
Actually I'm not, I'm from the east coast of the USA.
DjDATZ @ Dec 9th 2007 7:48PM
Which is why you tell us to stop complaining. Fuck you.
Come live here or go live in Europe, and see how it is to get products that are already old in the US, launched and branded as "brand new." Like Brian said, it's not like we're half-way across the planet. We're RIGHT NEXT DOOR.
Next time, think before you make a stupid comment like this. Idiot.
Sky Shark X2 @ Dec 9th 2007 8:34PM
Dude I was explaining how you guys have a right to complain, it is horrible how long you have to wait. I was saying Canadians shouldn't because its just a month for them you guys have to wait upwards of 3 months. I have friends in Europe so I know how you guys get the shaft. All Canada gets is a slight delay and they bitch. If anything you Europeans have the right to complain and not Canadians.
Evan @ Dec 9th 2007 3:07PM
Didn't the Canadian dollar surpass the American dollar this year too? I don't understand how anyone can justify their higher prices than us. Every time they get anything it is more expensive.
I bet the delay has something to do with some faulty guitars getting replaced before shipping out.
Poor Canucks :(

Mine is at the post office...
I went the eBay route and paid an extra $40. The worst part...
I work for EA! What a burn!
Penguin Warlord @ Dec 9th 2007 4:51PM
First Microsoft shafts Canadians with an expensive, craptastic video marketplace and then this happens.
Grendel Pr1me @ Dec 9th 2007 5:23PM
I wouldn't be all that pissed if they just gave a justifiable reason as to why it's delayed, and costs more.
Perhaps "We have to put snow tires on the guitar." Or "Do you know how difficult it is to make drum heads out of back bacon?" And perhaps "It was really difficult making sure that everything worked for all you whiny Canadians."
See, plausible accountability. But nooooooooo, they just delay it and raise the price. Maybe the box will actually have the english name first this time EA? You know, instead of Rock Band it will say... Rock Band?
xenocidic @ Dec 10th 2007 8:49AM
ooo, rubbing salt in my Boite Orange wound.
Derick O'Leary @ Dec 9th 2007 7:36PM
So is this the big announcement they were talking about 2 weeks ago?
Wait, no, cant be. Noone has 'announced' it have they?
Hell at least yall are getting 'ballpark' figures. I went to EB in Australia and got a "dunno" response for both release date AND price. Think I might just import it.
potato @ Dec 9th 2007 7:48PM
That loud cheer you hear... is coming from Activision. GH3 for 360 sold out within the weekend in every store around my place in Toronto. For PS3 it was sold out soon after also. Now, if you walk into any store you can't see ANY non-PS2 GH3 copies sitting around.
If Harmonix was planning on stickin' it to Activision this Xmas, they failed horribly.
A1 Great @ Dec 9th 2007 9:52PM
The delay is due to bilingual packaging requirements, not replacement of potentially faulty hardware (or anything else).
Brian G @ Dec 10th 2007 12:00AM
Bilingual packing requirements? That's the lamest excuse ever. What extra things do you need? A one-sheet explaining how to set-up the drums and a tiny little six page manual that nobody will ever read? I call Shenanigans.
dunnypop @ Dec 9th 2007 11:11PM
ugh when the hell am I going to get that Metallica pack? damn you Canada!
Ryan Henson Creighton @ Dec 9th 2007 11:31PM
NOW HEAR THIS: According to EA's hardware support people who i called to get my guitar fixed (they were not very nice to me, and sounded angry that i'm in Canada with a copy of the game), Rock Band has been delayed until Q1 2008.
Not December 28th. Q1 2008.
Ithilis @ Dec 10th 2007 12:09AM
I just bought it off of eBay, and saved $15 off of the Canadian retail price - shipping included.
Impatience prevails!
Jon @ Dec 10th 2007 10:30AM
If you're right next door, can't you just drive down to those border towns and purchase yourself one? I hear they have good hookers too... wait thats mexico, nm.
xenocidic @ Dec 10th 2007 11:50AM
some of us Canadians aren't welcome in the U S of A
Jon @ Dec 10th 2007 12:27PM
That's right, we try to keep all you atheists and terrorists out of our God-given land. I sure hope we get that electrical fence built up there. Its Phase II of the indestructible bubble we are creating to permanently isolate ourselves from the rest of the world.
Phase I was the War in Iraq...
