Xbox 360 Fancast 046 -- Ferret Approved

Well, fanboys and girls, it was an exciting evening yesterday. Yesterday was not unlike a video game in many ways. We tested our platforming skills as we dodged the many ice-laden tree branches tumbling from the sky, and we also solved the puzzles of clearing said branches from the driveway, discovering where we could locate electricity, and untangling the the great stricture placed upon our intertubes. After a vicious battle with the icy tendrils of nature, we emerged victorious, as precious internet access was restored to our neck of the woods. Good thing too, because we've got a Fancast to deliver. This week we discuss the new GTAIV trailer, demo madness, and the hosing of Canadians and Xbox Live Silver members. We also chat about an interesting solution to COD4's "p" problem, poorly-reviewed games (and the buying of them), Achievement shame, and whether or not the FPS genre is getting stale. Oh, and we also have an announcement to make, but you'll have to listen to find out (or read the inevitable comments that will follow). Download, as always, from the list below.

lysernix @ Dec 11th 2007 8:40PM
Yay indeed!
(But I also wanted to get this near the top, that it's not on iTunes as of 7:45pm CST 12-11 and several people including myself are looking for it...)
So... cool! Thanks... I'm sure its there by now since you are reading this in the future.

It's bigger then that, listen to the end.
Shadowcast @ Dec 11th 2007 5:09PM
Don't suppose there's any danger of the iTunes feed being updated anytime soon? Cause that'd be sweet.
Richard Mitchell @ Dec 12th 2007 2:00PM
Okay, it should be up soon. The weather is still playing hell with my internet, so I couldn't add the iTunes enclosure before it went out.
Shadowcast @ Dec 12th 2007 4:03PM
Thanks, and I hated to be that guy... I'd hate to miss the fancast more though. Hope the weather gets better soon cause it sure sucks to be without internet access.
Knuckles Dawson @ Dec 11th 2007 5:20PM
I figured I'd leave a comment here for people to reply to.
CyberKnight @ Dec 11th 2007 6:13PM
Well, good luck to whatever you have ahead of you...
Greg B. @ Dec 11th 2007 6:32PM
It won't be the same without you! ;__;

Larry *not allowed to say cheevo* @ Dec 13th 2007 10:01AM
What?! Oh man... I have to say, that you should have thought of the fans before your personal success and career. What about me? What about my personal entertainment? You are so selfish. Geeeez.
Seriously though, good luck with whatever "top secret, hush-hush" stuff you are doing that you can't talk about. Looking forward to updates in the future!
What are the plans for the X3F fancast after losing such an entertaining, knowledgeable, and dynamic personality!?!?!
Phil @ Dec 13th 2007 10:55AM
Although it is sad to see you go, after listening to this last podcast it is more clear than ever that you have a tendency to interrupt people and talk over them. It drove me nuts, even though I did like your contributions.
Stephen @ Dec 13th 2007 6:51PM
Just listened to the show. Dude! I wish you all the best. Your input was appreciated by me at the very least.
Not only was this a memorable fancast for me because my email was read but it was the last one completely read by you, Buddy. Good luck and don't be a stranger.
As a great philosopher once said, "In all things, keep it gangsta".
Neoxkc @ Dec 13th 2007 8:15PM
Good luck with everything in the future. It really is going to be different on the fancast without you. You and Robbie from the Uncle Gamer podcast leaving in one week. This is almost too much.
Knuckles is the new co-host of Uncle Gamer Podcast?
Urza @ Dec 11th 2007 6:29PM
I think they're confused, no one liked Death Proof, everyone liked Planet Terror.
webster1990 @ Dec 11th 2007 6:38PM
i liked both.
i preffered death proof though
mainly due to the massive car crash with the severed leg and the face being ripped off with the tire of the other car.
planet terror did make me laugh though.
p.s. when will the fancast be put up on itunes?
Etchasketchist @ Dec 11th 2007 6:47PM
I liked Death Proof better. The characters were more interesting, the story was better, the cinematography and the editing were both on point. Planet Terror is just a bad comic book of a movie. Richard complains that "it's just a bunch of girls talking and then throw in a few car chases and call it a movie". Well swap girls for guys and you've described every action movie ever made practically. Richard just doesn't like having to listen to girls talk.
ogvor @ Dec 12th 2007 11:51AM
Planet terror was a goofy, funny, movie, but Tarintino's was the more accurate "Grind House" movie that made homages to other Grind House movies, will having a distinct style of it's own. The "female revenge" genre was also popular in Grind House features. Planet Terror was an enjoyable movie, but Death Proof was the better film.
Richard Mitchell @ Dec 12th 2007 2:13PM
I should have clarified a bit. The car action was great. I enjoyed the first half of Death Proof quite a bit, but the very *very* long scene in the cafe with the girls gabbing was boring, uninteresting, and did very little to actually make me care about the characters (not to mention the fact that it did virtually nothing to advance the plot). Not only that, but Tarantino's soliloquies are getting worse and worse with every movie he writes. The dialogue is incredibly self-indulgent, and unlike his other films (Pulp Fiction especially) it just isn't very good.
There's a lot to like about Death Proof, the stunts are absolutely phenomenal and Kurt Russel does a fabulous job as the villain, but I feel like Quentin originally wrote a sixty minute movie and realized he needed to tack on another thirty.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Planet Terror is a fantastic film, but I found it to be a more enjoyable experience.
DaMan09 @ Dec 11th 2007 7:37PM
Now that you guys have (seemingly) embraced the zune marketplace by adding a link for it, can you please fix the album art that is in the RSS Feed, because that long logo looks horrid all stretched out on my device.
Neoxkc @ Dec 13th 2007 8:17PM
Agreed, it's not a big deal on the list view, but when playing it looks crazy.
Taylor @ Dec 11th 2007 9:52PM
it wint update on my itunes
EMaster @ Dec 11th 2007 10:31PM
iTunes issues. Probably won't be fixed until tomorrow at 9 AM EST when they read our comments.

THA1icarus @ Dec 12th 2007 2:21AM
Yeah it's still not up
CougRon @ Dec 12th 2007 12:36AM
Looks like there is an error in the rss, no enclosure tag for the new podcast!
Dave @ Dec 12th 2007 1:12AM
Awesome news about dropping the dead weight. I won't have to hear the word "like" 100 times in a hour.
Knuckles Dawson @ Dec 12th 2007 11:35AM
Zing!
colin @ Dec 12th 2007 3:38AM
RICHARD! sorry dude, death proof was much better than planet terror. not that i don't like planet terror, but death proof was better. and mr. brooks sucks. dude, what is up with that? i thought i liked you. j/k
colin @ Dec 12th 2007 3:39AM
p.s. im not smoking anything unfortunately :(
Granteezy @ Dec 12th 2007 5:52AM
Are you kidding me? Mr. Brooks dominated compared to Death Proof! Kurt Russel is your first clue of it being as excruciating as it was.
Larry *not allowed to say cheevo* @ Dec 12th 2007 9:48AM
Mr. Brooks was good. Dane cook also played a good role in that movie. I wouldn't say movie of the year, but it was good times.
Granteezy @ Dec 12th 2007 7:50AM
Get Jade Raymond from Ubisoft for your next fancast, holy *&$* she's hot!
ReekinHavok @ Dec 12th 2007 10:23AM
iTunes isn't updating! WTF!!! Wha? Knuckles is leaving? WTF! I need this podcast!!! OMG!
OBM @ Dec 12th 2007 10:44AM
Are you all retarded? Just download the bloody MP3 for christ's sake! You're on here making a comment about the rss feed not working when you could have just downloaded the MP3, WTF is wrong with you all?
THA1icarus @ Dec 12th 2007 1:57PM
Well Ipod suck if I do that I have edit the mp3 to not play when shuffling, so yes I'm lazy.
But I'm downloading it now, waiting an other day is even worse than clicking my mouse a view times.......
ReekinHavok @ Dec 12th 2007 11:17AM
It's called sarcasm. Dude...smile.
Mitch @ Dec 12th 2007 1:41PM
Ricardo, fix up your RSS so iTunes registers the show!
Saccia @ Dec 12th 2007 2:29PM
Knuckles is going away? Noooooo! Is he leaving due to fanboy pressure on Xbox360Fanboy? Is this like the Gamespot coverup? Grrr.... don't listen to the silly email guy who doesn't like Knuckles!!! :-P
Knuckles Dawson @ Dec 12th 2007 3:32PM
I smell a conspiracy:
Dawsongate exposé!
bigmac375 @ Dec 12th 2007 7:57PM
I remember him saying KOHLS was worse than JCPenney. For some time now AOL.com has been running advertisements for KOHLS outlets and indirectly caused the firing of the man who everyone loves to hate. The man who conducting this horrid and unjust firing shall remain nameless so I'll just call him Dick.
Richard Mitchell @ Dec 13th 2007 11:43AM
Uh oh,
They're on to me...
OBM @ Dec 12th 2007 5:22PM
will we be hearing more about these opportunities you're leaving us for?
Dave @ Dec 12th 2007 6:47PM
Yea Tim Hortons is looking for a mop boy.
