Without any official announcement over on Bungie.net (those lazy Bungie.net'ers), we discovered that two new playlists have been added to
Halo 3's matchmaking hopper. The playlist changes are the same ones that Bungie
previously revealed a few weeks back and include the addition of both ranked Team Hardcore and Team Control. Hardcore is a 4v4 playlist that features default use of the Battle Rifle and a motion tracker doesn't pickup any of the enemy's movements (but will show where your teammates are). It's truly hardcore stealth stuff. Control is also a 4v4 playlist that features nothing but control based gametypes including Territories, King of the Hill, etc. We haven't played this playlist at all, but we're sure the Territories lovers of the world (are there any out there?) will enjoy it. That's it guys, two brand new playlist additions to switch up your
Halo 3 gaming. Have fun!
We also should note that lately, Bungie has been
screwing with enhancing each playlist. They've been making changes including the removal of certain gametypes and addition of new custom maps to the deletion of weapons on certain maps (why no Mauler madness on Guardian?) We can't locate concrete facts on all the playlist, gametype or map changes, so if you have the info please share. Now back to Team Hardcore ...

brownc4 @ Dec 21st 2007 1:43PM
Love terroritories!!!!
DjDATZ @ Dec 21st 2007 1:50PM
Will probably give it a try after the weekend. :D
Tony Bowman @ Dec 21st 2007 1:51PM
i wish the mauler would be taken out completely. or be renamed cheapwhorecannon.
DjDATZ @ Dec 21st 2007 2:33PM
Its really weird. If I have the mauler, and I go to beat someone with the hammer down, I always get hammered. However, if I have the hammer and I encounter someone with a mauler, I always get beat down...how does that work?
Anticrawl @ Dec 21st 2007 3:35PM
Tony, for you I hope they make every weapon in the game the mauler. If you can't handle an enemy with a specific weapon then my friend you don't deserve to play the game. Go bitch elsewhere, I'm sure the Halo community doesn't need another immature brat stinking up the place. There is always custom games or just another game.
All that aside I think I'll go play some Shadowrun, Halo 3 got pretty stale after the first week or so.
Tony Bowman @ Dec 21st 2007 3:48PM
Get bent, Anticrawl. all you do is bitch about games. I mean seriously, whining about the damage system in a demo of a game? weaksauce, chief.
and if you can't see a word like cheapwhorecannon and the post that contains as tongue-in-cheek, you probably should tell your parents to let the internet account at your house expire.
i dislike the alotment of maulers more than the weapon itself. if you're going to put two maulers near each other, you may as well just put a shotgun there instead. what's the point of it? dual-wielded maulers is the same thing as a shotty up close. you're taking away the differentiation in weapons that way, and that's boring.
now, if you put one mauler and another dual-wieldable weapon near it, like an SMG, that is somewhat more interesting.
it's just personal preference, chief. get the stick out of your ass.
Anticrawl @ Dec 21st 2007 4:19PM
Heh, you aren’t really helping your case. I personally liked the shotgun better than the maulers anyway, I never found them to be very effective for my style of play. Not liking the damage system in a game I care about isn't the same thing as complaining in an online game because you don’t agree without how someone else plays. If you don't like the maulers don't play in games with them, if I don't like the damage system in a series I like then I just won't buy the game or play it and then be done with it. I felt something was wrong with the game, pointed it out and proceeded to solve the problem by not playing the game anymore.
I'm a college student living in an apartment, paying my way with scholarships and a job; I like how you make rash generalizations about people you don't like. Not everyone is carried through life by their parents, but I won't make any assumptions here. Though, this all certainly reminds me of my experiences on Halo 3.

aw, man! territories is fun (if sparsely thrown in the mix).
next time, just try to defend territory 1 the entire time. it's a blast.
Sgt Barone @ Dec 21st 2007 2:15PM
Territories is my favorite gametype in Halo 3. It's an awesome team based game that can get very intense, epecially like in Land Grab or Lurkers. I like how there's also Territories BR and other gametypes like Lurkers. As long as everyone on your team has a mike, it's good. Territories FTW!
Ben @ Dec 21st 2007 2:15PM
Guess I'll have to throw Halo 3 back in and try these out. I like Territories too, but only when the people you are playing with actually use the headset!
Josh @ Dec 21st 2007 2:21PM
Team Objective is (finally!) CTF and Bomb only.
Larry *not allowed to say cheevo* @ Dec 21st 2007 2:23PM
Territories= fun.
NukeAssault @ Dec 21st 2007 2:23PM
Territories is ok... Im usually never in the mood to play it though.
Hardcore sounds kick ass though.... Now wheres Team Swat!
evan @ Dec 21st 2007 2:35PM
i don't understand why people are against the mauler. it's pretty much a weaker shotgun. shotgun can take a guy out with one shot, but with the mauler you need two shots in close, one shot with a double mauler, or a single shot then a melee attack.
but with the shotgun, just one shot from in close and the person is toast.
so why not outrage over the shotgun's inclusion on guardian, narrows, high ground, isolation, epitaph? hMmmm?
JBurton90 @ Dec 21st 2007 2:51PM
The new objective features CTF and Assault only btw.
J8675309 @ Dec 21st 2007 2:57PM
Because mauler clusterf***s were exceptionally homosexual?
A mauler on a map isn't bad, 4 maulers on a map is bad.
mcatrage @ Dec 21st 2007 3:30PM
How about Swat we ever going to get that back?
Anticrawl @ Dec 21st 2007 4:21PM
What is the Swat gametype by the way, I certainly can guess but I didn't play Halo 2 online long enough to see that playlist update, was having to much fun in Farcry.
Anticrawl @ Dec 21st 2007 3:34PM
Tony, for you I hope they make every weapon in the game the mauler. If you can't handle an enemy with a specific weapon then my friend you don't deserve to play the game. Josh @ Dec 21st 2007 3:51PM
Still no Team Snipes? What the hell?
ogvor @ Dec 21st 2007 3:56PM
I really like big capture the flag games and neutral bomb, so when the Ranked Big Team Battle playlist hits, I'll actually being going back to Halo 3
Skyfire360 @ Dec 21st 2007 4:09PM
No Team Snipers
No Swat
I'll guess I'll stick with PC games for a while longer
Doc @ Dec 21st 2007 4:20PM
I just might have to try this out again since COD 4 has really caught my attention right now.. I hope that the elimination of the enemy radar is a breath of fresh air and kills the tendancy of people wanting to camp! I do have to hand it bungie though, while most dev's out there barely address a single issue or just release a bullshit patch that does barely anything, they at least try different shit! Thanks for the options!
Doc @ Dec 21st 2007 4:23PM
ogvor... I agree with you that those game types are fun, but only in ranked since thats when people actually care about winning and playing as a "team".
Jayslacks @ Dec 21st 2007 6:28PM
You know what would be nice? How about fixing the stupid meelee system and making 'nades a little more powerful! I'd rather have that than a stupid Team Controlcore or whatever the fuck.
dan stabbingworth @ Dec 21st 2007 8:58PM
The grenades are just perfect. Plasmas are an instant kill if close enough, and one frag plus a headshot is a kill. How much stronger do they need to be?
JimmyJett @ Dec 21st 2007 10:03PM
The next playlist update is scheduled to hit sometime in January with the addition of ranked big team battle and the deletion of team tactical.
Fair warning for those casual gamers looking to jump into team hardcore: don't be surprised if you get your arse handed to you by a team of four level 50 generals.
ian @ Dec 21st 2007 11:46PM
X3f, if you truly think that bomb on valhalla is *hardcore* then you should consider yourselves casual gamers at best.
