Metal Slug 3 kicks off Live Arcade's 2008

If good omens really exist, then Metal Slug 3 being the first game for Xbox Live Arcade in 2008 is surely one of them. Microsoft has informed us that the game will be arriving on XBLA next week, starting off 2008 with a digital bang (followed by many, many more bangs, dead soldiers, and giant boss creatures). Part of one of the most popular action series of all time, the game will feature Live (and presumably local) co-op and updated graphics. Metal Slug 3 will be available next Wednesday for 800 MS Points. Our only worry is that so much on-screen action might make Live co-op a little sketchy. Let's hope not. Check out a new gallery of Metal Slug 3 screenshots below.

I hope this isn't the start of older arcade games being sold for $10. I would have paid 400 points for this.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of $10 a pop.

SWEET.

While I am a big Metal Slug fan, $10 is too much for this game. Especially considering it's been part of a several collections, all of which contain all the MS games for $40 or less, and all of them are available on Gametap.
For $5 I would buy it.

Seems like most of us are in a line of agreeance that 800 points, or 10 dollars, is far too much - even for these great titles. Now, I have no grievance with 400, though I think 250 would be a lot fairer.

Dammit, I was hoping for Rez HD.

I paid ten for heavy weapon and it was worth every penny, this is a better game.

When are we getting Castle Crashers? That's scheduled for the beginning of 2008, right?
Jonah Falcon @ Dec 28th 2007 3:38PM
March 2008.
Alucard @ Dec 28th 2007 2:48PM
I think this game is better on the arcade. i'll just probably buy the joystick just to play this game

The co-op is online. And it's worth $10.
Premo @ Dec 28th 2007 5:51PM

Wow, 10 dollars just for this? Microsoft really need to get their prices right. Let's be honest, anyone can find this in five minutes on google for free with an emulator that supports all these smoothing effects, hd, and online. I know a lot of people don't want to pirate and I'd have bought this if it were 400 points like most other classics.
Another problem I have is when they mention online play, it's usually laggy and has poor sync. I know it's not Microsoft's fault if developers do it poorly, but maybe set up a certain standard? Regardless, this is a rip-off of an arcade game you'd just pop some quaters into at an arcade years ago. If this was the 'new' Metal Slug 6 then I'd have did the 800 but the older ones should be 400 just like other classics.

Why don't they make the Xbox version compatible first before releasing this version. I shouldn't have to pay again for a game that I allready have and that IS playable on the console with a little work. F this.
