H3 Recon Armor owner's Live account hijacked
We guess having the privilege of owning a set of Halo 3 Recon Armor puts a giant "please hack my Xbox Live account" target on your back. A target that nobody would be proud to wear.If you recall, Halo 3 gamer Skyllus vBi earned some shweet Recon Armor for his suicidal sniping abilities back in October which instantly brought fame, chicks and money into his life. But owning the l33t Recon Armor has also brought lots of jealousy and envy. Just this week Skyllus' Xbox Live account was hijacked through what seems to be "pre-texting" methods by an unknown gamer who singled him out simply because of his Recon status. Skyllus is, in effect, locked out of his Xbox Live account. So far, he has reached out to Bungie and has gone through the proper 1-800-4-MYXBOX channels, but has yet to be successful in regaining access to his account since the hijacker changed all his information. An investigation is pending, discussions over at Bungie.net and TeamXbox are taking place and Skyllus is updating everyone on the status over at Team vBi. Hopefully, Microsoft will fix this mess and Skyllus will again regain control of his account and Recon Armor. And maybe Xbox Live CS will quit being duped by pre-texting antics. Shame on them.
[Thanks, xX Twilight Xx]

What a wanker

It's called pretexting. As in, getting information by using a pretext. Putting a hyphen in turns it into pre-texting, which would presumably be something you do before sending an SMS message.
Alijah Green @ Dec 30th 2007 6:08PM
that is what happens when you excluded / maybe bungie can get their dicks out of there ass and make it available to everyone
David W. @ Dec 30th 2007 6:38PM
ummm...no?
Bungie is entitled to give whatever they want to whoever they want, and I think they've been pretty fair.
JakubK666 @ Dec 30th 2007 7:03PM
Wait... I already paid for the fucking game so I should be entitled for the free map pack , not even mentioning the fucking armor.
Brave @ Dec 30th 2007 7:45PM
No. Ya'll only payed for the Game and everything on the Disc. What Bungie or Microsoft decides to give you and the cost of the content you aquire is entirely up to them.
Suck it Up.
John Gross @ Dec 30th 2007 7:50PM
You paid for the game as-is. Anything extra is not what you willingly paid money for. Stop acting entitled and be realistic. You paid for what you got and anything extra, I repeat extra, can and should be charged for
mattclarkie @ Dec 31st 2007 9:35AM
I do get the feeling that companies are deliberately not putting stuff on the disc so they can sell it to you at a later date. Crackdown is a prime example of that.
I just wait for the stuff to become free, but not all of it does. I paid £35+ for the game. I am not going to pay any more than that. If the stuff becomes free it is a bonus, but I do feel that stuff is left out just to make a few bones.

This reminds me when I got my account back. Thankfully my credit card information wasn't changed, and I managed to get it back....
ProjectModChamp @ Dec 30th 2007 7:22PM
whoops typo I ment to say "this reminds me when I got my account hacked" :P sorry

Sucks for him, but - if you believe what someone you met online tells you, then... it's your own fault.
There's only one rule on the Intertubez:
#1: Don't give *anyone* *any* *personal* information. E V A R.
I've had FOUR people try this pretexting shit on me while playing various games, and a couple of them tried the 'I'm from IW, we want you to beta test a new feature' angle or 'I'm from MS/Bungie, your account is causing latency problems on the server, let us fix it' trick. Universally I tell them to take a flying leap and I file a complaint on them via XBL.
No one from *any* company will use XBL to communicate with you that you've won something, or that they want you to be their extra special buddy buddy test dude on a super secret game that only you will have access to... cmon kids... you're smarter than this. At least I hope you all are...

Amen

well reading more from this, the hacker got the information from calling Ms, and the real shit is, the hacker is going on the forum, and literaly bragging about how he stole the account. He then goes on to say "you have no proof" after they tracked his IP, Myspace, and got messages from him bragging. How stupid people can be....I hope he get's his account back! I'll contact everyone I know! Good luck Sky

I love how helpful the people on the team XBOX forums were. Sounds like a nice group of people of there.
Cal @ Dec 30th 2007 8:43PM
So because he has special armour and gets hacked he deserves more exposure? I'd rather see something about this type of hacking in general, instead of a story about someone with a flaming helmet getting hacked...
ProjectModChamp @ Dec 30th 2007 9:58PM
I get where your saying. I mean I got hacked, and tried to contact everyone, and nothing, but sense this guy has some recon, and alot of internet pals he gets coverage:( *sniff**sniff* But I could care less now. I want sky to get his account back, and I want the hacker to get in some serious trouble. I mean what kind of people sit down, and say"I'm gonna hack for the hell of it"....
Matt @ Dec 31st 2007 1:00AM
Nerds, and there are lots of them.
ccc @ Dec 31st 2007 4:16AM
Be funny if this was all because he gave his info out to someone so they could glitch an achievement like seriously in GOW and they just didn't want to give it back.
mattclarkie @ Dec 31st 2007 9:42AM
When I was at school, my Computing teacher told us about a kid called Wolf who was some kind of computer genius, who could hack anything. He actually hacked into the school one day, with the schools permission, to see if he could.
What this guy did isn't hacking, I could do it and I guess anyone with a phone and the balls to ring MS could to.
I hate that because people are jealous they decide to deprive others, it shows us what a state the world is in when the "If I can't have it no-one can" mentally is applauded by tw*ts on forums.

Same thing with the traffic cone happened to my friend. Seriously, look up his deaths in the stats, he has a traffic cone too: Project Bearek
mattclarkie @ Dec 31st 2007 11:43AM
He has played some serious Haloz.
Did he get coned on purpose on by accident?
JS @ Dec 31st 2007 11:48AM
He said that there was a match a few weeks ago where he died right after shooting some barrels, and he had no idea why. Didn't go back to check though and he hadn't ever heard of the guy who that had already happened to (he doesn't go online much.) We noticed it on his stats page a few days ago and I showed him the video...had a good laugh! :-)
