Depressing news fellow
Shadowrun fanboys. The official
Shadowrun forums are being
shut down soon due to the fact that most of the original FASA employees have moved on to other roles within' Microsoft and there isn't enough staff to keep watch. As a result, we advise quickly make your way to the
forums and posting until your
Shadowrun heart is content. Though, there is a semi-silver lining to the forum shutdown. Shadowrun.com and its contents will be transferred over to the new
Shadowrun IP owners
Smith & Tinker, so they'll have free range to do whatever they wish with the Shadowrun.com name. You had a good run fellow friend, but now it's time to move on to a brighter future.

not even shadowrun plays shadowrun.
mattclarkie @ Jan 3rd 2008 2:04PM
I saw it in a shop brand new the other day for £11, but thought that as I wouldn't be able to find a match it was a waste of money so didn't buy it.
Does anyone actually play it anymore?
LuckyEMS @ Jan 3rd 2008 2:05PM

xenocidic @ Jan 3rd 2008 5:10PM

You guys don't seem to enjoy this game. Hey, it's original :)
Anticrawl @ Jan 3rd 2008 2:36PM
I dunno plenty of people still play this game. Got on recently and found a match quicker than I do in Halo 3. I can't believe so many people passed it up because Shovelface.. I mean Jeff pissed all over it for not being an RPG. But asside from all that the game seemed to just have caught a second wind. I saw lots of friends on it recently, until my 360 died that is.
I personally loved the game, was original and added something new to the stale FPS genre.
todd @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:01PM
Ha, one of the reasons I didn't buy it was because I knew in 2 months time, when H3 was out that the game would die... had people telling me no way man, this game rocks even when H3 is out I'll still be playing it ha
Anticrawl @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:22PM
Hrm, most of the people I know only played Halo 3 for a week or two (only took that long to unlock everything) then went back to Shadowrun or on to COD4/TF2.
todd @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:29PM
oh ya I played H3 then dumped it as fast as I could... I also played the SR beta. I was disappointed that there was no single player element in the game and expressed my concern on what happens when the game is no longer popular, people screamed at me to shut the hell up that they would be playing this for years... ha. There still might be people playing but I would bet not the numbers when it came out and you can probably see a huge drop in numbers after H3 was released. I see the game for $15 now on ebay and think, hmm I should snag that since it's cheap but why bother since you relay on there being other people playing it when your on. I just think it was a mistake to not have some kinda SP in it.
Anticrawl @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:35PM
I believe the plan was to release the SP free of charge as downloadable content later if the game sold well enough. Microsoft screwed FASA on their budget and gave them no advertisment funding so it is supprising it did as well as it did.
I'm still pissed MS stabbed the founding developers of Xbox Live games in the back like that. Really fucking lame. They put Live on the map and set the standard for online console games.
JakubK666 @ Jan 3rd 2008 5:34PM
Wait you're telling me that you CAN ACTUALLY play TF2 over live? I tried to play it in UK and all I got was literally ONE ranked game and maybe FIVE socials.
That's the bit where I should something about PC Power...so I will.
PC POWER, PC RULES , PC POWER!
Anticrawl @ Jan 3rd 2008 8:16PM
Perhaps thats because life has been so iffy there are no americans hosting games. Last I played (about a week ago before the 360 died) there were tons of games on and we couldn't keep people kicked long enough from our game to invite friends.
Boff @ Jan 4th 2008 5:08AM
Jakubk666:- I tried out TF2 the other day and had no problems in the UK finding games. Couldn't find any on New Year's Eve but I put that down to Live being fucked up.
Ejab @ Jan 3rd 2008 3:23PM
Smith and Tinker does not own the shadowrun IP they LICENSED it.
BananaBoat @ Jan 3rd 2008 11:46PM
One of my favorite clips is the one of the Shadowrun project head cursing at people for not buying his game. What's really sad is that they shot an HD documentary "The making of Shadowrun", so I actually somewhat feel bad for the guy (seems like he really tried)
Better luck next time guy!
neech uk @ Jan 4th 2008 10:13AM
ppl do play this, its a excellent game, its easier to find a match on it than gears. only takes like 30 seconds to find a decent match.
