Darth Vader and Yoda join Soul Calibur IV (seriously)

No, really. We're absolutely dead serious. Yoda and Darth Vader -- you know, from Star Wars -- will both be appearing in the Namco weapons-based fighter Soul Calibur IV. We are absolutely not kidding about this at all. It's not a joke. It's real, and 1UP has pictures to prove it. Now, as we attempt to wrap our heads around the sheer bizarreness of it all, we're racked with questions. Forget how Namco plans to work these clowns into the story. After all, they managed to wedge Spawn and Link into Soul Calibur II somehow. Our question is how can any conventional weapon stand up to the might of a light saber? Dare we say it, a light saber would slice the Soul Edge itself as though it were butter. Butter, we say! Adding fuel to what is undoubtedly the weirdest fire to break so far this year, 1UP speculates that more Star Wars characters might be on the way. You know what, we quit. Words fail. Update: GameSpot reports that Yoda is exclusive to the Xbox 360 while Darth Vader is PS3 only. Is Namco Bandai making a comment on the force alignments of Microsoft and Sony here?

I was under the impression that the lives of Yoda and Darth Vader took place a long long time ago and, not only that, in a galaxy far, far away. Beyond that, though, my question is relatively simple. Special weapons. Being that Soul Calibur and Soul Edge morph into the wielder's weapon of choice, does that mean a Soul Cailbur lightsaber? I surely hope so!

Link was actually a pretty good fighter.
Nintendo should let em be in the 360 build, and Microsoft can toss em Master Chief or someone for Brawl.

I think they should do a spinoff that is in the star wars universe. That would be pretty sweet! I think this is a great idea too though. Vader looks badass as always!

Just me or does Vader's head seem a bit small for his body. Yoda looks sad :(
They could make an entire fighting game off Star Wars Characters (An no not that xbox Starwars III title it was ok but common it could have been done better).

This is a cool bonus but srsly makes me think of teräs käsi and that makes me LULZ!!!! yea I agree that it isnt as cool as link being added when that happen with SCII. Solid Snake in SSB:Melee is even more exciting than this but whatev im not complaining.

Well I love Star Wars. I love Soul Caliber. However I don't know how well I like this idea. As long as its just Yoda and Vader I think I can deal with it. Anything else though and I might have to kill myself. I really hope this is just a very very elaborate hoax using some shopped SC4 and Force Unleashed screens. Also doesn't seem like something Lucas Arts would do, then again neither was the prequel trilogy.

yup, i was gonna get this for 360 but, after lookin at that expressionless Yoda model and how broken these short fighters can be in a fighting game I've decided to just get it for PS3.

Ill be getting a Ps3 eventually (when MGS comes out) and maybe ill consider buying it again and selling the other.... highly doubt it though. Vader isint it worth that much to me. Yodas moves are gonna kick ass though.

Soul Calibur is already a joke. The first two were OK, but then I realized that THEY NEVER DRAW BLOOD and THEY NEVER CUT EACH OTHER in this **sword** fighting game!!!
So what's Vader using, if he can't slice off limbs? A practice lightsaber? No wounds? No blood? No dismemberment? And we're to believe they're using lightsabers?
I can buy the weapons all being made of cortosis or something (resists lightsaber attacks), but when the lightsaber hits flesh, it had better CUT SOMETHING OFF, because if not, it's lame as hell.
If they'd stop wasting their time trying to make up some BS storyline (that resembles every other fighting game anime storyline, btw) and actually just made a bladed fighting game in which people actually get cut, wounded, decapitated, and dismembered, I'd return to the series. For now, it looks like all they have to get people to buy this retread of a retread of a retread are GIMMICKS, and poorly-implemented gimmicks, at that.
Call me when they post a video of Vader slicing off Sophia's hand.

Yeah man, Namco just gave 360 owners a kick in the dick. We get Yoda, PS3 gets Darth Vader. WTF! Vaders coolness in umistakable, while Yoda lameless is just that, lame. My heart just broke a little. That probably makes no sense but, this sucks.

Seriously, after they threw in Spawn and Link in the last one, I think that pretty much opened the door for them to do whatever they want.
Looks kinda fun to me.

I was only mildy interested in this game before, but this just got me pretty dang interested.
It's a shame they won't just put both characters in both versions though. I usually get my multiplatform games on the 360 but I'd much rather have Vader than Yoda so I'll probably pick this one up for the ps3.
I really want to be able to fight them against each other though for some hot lightsaber on lightsaber action.

I can't believe it, almost 50 comments and nobody has pointed out that with this platform-specific nonsense, you won't be able to have Vader and Yoda fight each other! Man, that's disappointing... I'm not a big Star Wars geek or anything, but that part in the new Ep where Yoda was bouncing off the walls had me rolling on the damn floor. I was hoping to replicate that against Vader...
