Wal-mart offering 360 pre-orders for the cheap! [update 2]

Update: Seems like Wal-mart has either caught on to the pricing problem or games are selling out, because certain pre-orders are coming up as "Product Not Found!" errors. Though, some games are still available. Pre-order what you can, it's an online shopping frenzy!
Hurry fanboys! Walmart.com is either starting a new video game pre-order pricing policy or is having some serious pricing issues. Either way, everyone wins! Make like an antelope in heat (whatever that means?) over to Walmart.com's upcoming 360 games list. Once there, you can pre-order most upcoming 360 games for $20-$40 off of retail! We're for serious! Deals like getting Condemned 2 and Dark Sector for $19.82, Frontlines Fuel of War, Turok and LOST for $29.82 or The Club, Army of Two, Burnout Paradise and Devil May Cry 4 for $39.82. Again, these are pre-orders for the games and we have no idea why these are so cheap or if Wal-mart will even honor the prices. So, there's a metaphorical shake of the dice with these offers, but the savings alone may be worth a shot. Pre-order with reckless caution.
[Thanks, Chris Csanyi]

WOW.

They had this for some Wii games too. They'll never honor the price either, none of these places do anymore.
Ben @ Jan 11th 2008 2:27PM
I hope they honor the price!
Mark @ Jan 12th 2008 1:41AM
No, They just canceled they orders. Not even a special email. They just clicked on the "cancel order" buttons for you. I got a email stating they're processing my order cancellation request and then another one saying they completed it.

Culdcept is a budget game; EB also has it for $40. The other price errors *are* pretty cool, though. That's why I sent in a tip about it 2 hours before you posted it (grumble).
I also missed the Smash Brothers Brawl $20 deal (double grumble).

.... Seriously are people that gullible/ignorant...
Corleone @ Jan 11th 2008 3:11PM
Walmart will honor their pricing online. They have to.
Intentless @ Jan 11th 2008 3:23PM
Yeah... no... If it is for pre-orders specifically they are not held to any pricing listed online. If the product was physically released yes...
They have a statement that states pricing is subject to change blah blah blah... It even mentions errors in pricing do happen... Imagine that... Whatever the case they will contact you prior to the charge and ask if you still want it at the full price.
They either messed up or purposefully made an error to generate sales/buzz.

Hey no one notice GTA4 IS 10 BUCKS OFF THE SE!!! LOL. thats what i grabed wish i wasn't broke or i would have got more.
Mark C. @ Jan 11th 2008 4:12PM
Does not matter if they change the price. If they do, I cancel the order. Simple as that and I am out.......NOTHING. It makes sense to jump on a possible deal. If they honor the price, then we were smart to jump. If they don't, then it comes as no surprise to me as I fully expect them to pull some kind of excuse out of their behind.
killploki @ Jan 11th 2008 4:15PM
isnt walmart going to make a ton of money off of the interest from the pre-orders? therefor not end up really loosing out in the long run? or did i miss something and no one has put money down yet.
Intentless @ Jan 11th 2008 5:34PM
They don't get the money till the sale occurs...
George Arauz @ Jan 11th 2008 4:29PM
wait.. huh??

Don't worry if you missed out. Walmart is cancelling most orders. I ordered 2 360 games, 1 PS3 game and Smash Bros but Walmart sent me an email that indicated they were cancelling my order. Funny thing is though they didn't cancel the entire order. They let me have Smash Bros still for $19. Knew it was too good to be true but I'll take one out of 4. Better than nothing.
Eric @ Jan 11th 2008 10:39PM

NOT HAPPY!!!!! Walmart realized they missed one and cancelled the rest of my order. Walmart won't be getting my business any more, that's for sure.
Mark C. @ Jan 11th 2008 10:50PM
Time for everyone to hit the Better Business Bureau. If this were in the store, they would be obligated by law to sell you the item for the listed price.
UNSCleric @ Jan 12th 2008 1:27AM
No they wouldn't. This is the equivalent of a typo in the Sunday ads.
gs @ Jan 12th 2008 10:58AM
Yep, everything is getting canceled. My 3 games were canceled this morning.
Smacksmackums @ Jan 12th 2008 5:54PM
These guys should update the post again saying that all the orders are being canceled.
I don't see what the big deal is. Did you actually expect them to honor those low prices?
Pricing mistakes happen all the time online and the websites have specific language on them to protect from the errors. They are not obligated to honor pricing mistakes online.
oOo BioShock oOo @ Jan 12th 2008 6:54PM
Sweet, I missed out on this and everybody s orders are getting canceled. I'm so happy!

I missed out on this deal but thanks X3F for giving us the signal anyway.
Corleone @ Jan 14th 2008 11:47AM
Walmart has cancelled out all of these orders. More reason to hate them. They had a price error and they should honor it.
Rob Ziegler @ Jan 18th 2008 11:56PM
At least they're giving us a $10 gift card for canceling the orders.
