Assassin's for $38, Hawk for $39 & secret deals too
Post-holidays can be a real downer for video game deal finders. It's almost as if major retailers don't even try to lure us into their stores with flashy deals or "wow!" offers after the holidays pass. So, this week, we've got a few deals to share with you, but nothing that'll make you scream with joy. Sorry. This week Target is only offering one video game related deal and it's our good friend Assassin's Creed for a pretty fine $38. Heading over to Best Buy, you'll find Tony Hawk's Proving Ground for $39 and Spider-Man: Friend or Foe for $29. Our final stop on our whirlwind tour of Sunday deal searching is Circuit City. And they don't have anything other than possibly MX vs ATV Untamed for $49. Though, that deal is a yawn fest. But we didn't give up on old Circuit City as we had a hunch that they were hiding something. We were right.
Circuit City is holding a 3-Day Mega Sale, which are online only deals good through Tuesday that are much better than their Sunday ad. Deals like Soldier of Fortune for $39, Stuntman: Ignition for $29, Beowolf for $19, the HD DVD player for $159 and (our favorite deal) the Chatpad included Messenger Kit for $19. Sneaky Circuit City, always keeping their cards held close. Happy shopping!

Another deal I found this weekend: Walmart.com is selling the 120 GB HD for $154.82 with the slowest shipping option (7-10 days) costing $0.97. Not a bad deal, but you have to order it online- WalMart does not pricematch its own website, nor will they pricematch from one store to another.

sigh...don't you ever find any decent UK Deals...or at least know any website that does :(

They made a new Soldier of Fortune? This is the first I've heard of it so it must suck :p

It was pretty terrible. Though I enjoyed the hell out of it for the rental time I had it. Honestly I don't know why this is a deal. The game was released as a budget title at 39.99 but most retail stores marked it full price at 59.99 for some reason or later raised the price to 59.99 from 39.99, probably to take advantage of misinformed consumers.

They should pay ME $29 to take "Spider-Man: Friend or Foe" off their hands.
Knight Marquise @ Jan 13th 2008 1:43PM
I know how you feel. If I'd only have paid $38.00 for Assassins Creed, I wouldn't be so sore about the gameplay.

My local CC never has anything on sale in stock, maybe 1 or 2, and those are always gone by the time normal people arrive(2 hours after opening).
Assassins Creed looks like a good deal, even though they had it for like the same price at BB 2 weeks or so ago, but i missed it then.

Check out Toy R Us they have some clearance sale items. XBL gold card 1 month $2.48 3 month w/headset $9.99 and some crappy games.

Sweet. I'm finally going to pick up AC because of that sale. I hope it's good.

lol They weren't exactly hiding it. I got an email this morning from Circuit City that actually said "3 Day Mega Sale." It's called the mailing list, guys.

This is pretty sad ... those target games ... and OMG, WAIT --
A CC three day mega sale! Two really shit-ass games! One half decent one!! Two overpriced, barely useful peripheral add-ons!!! Rock out!
lol

My wife got me a chatpad for Christmas and I use it much more than I thought I would. It is really convenient to have when someone IMs you on the Xbox. Before I got it I was always getting messages and didn't want to take the time to respond. Plus it makes the controller a little bit heavier which feels right in my hands.
TORO @ Jan 14th 2008 9:55AM
Chatpad is awesome I use it all the time, and the IM'ing is so much easier.
MDB @ Jan 13th 2008 3:27PM
Assassin's Creed still isn't worth that price
Blue_Falcon @ Jan 13th 2008 4:28PM
Heh, a couple weeks ago I bought Super Mario Galaxy at Target when they were doing a deal and selling it at $37, and bought Assassin's Creed at the same time at full price.
If I had known they were going to do this deal, I definitely would have waited. Oh well.
I should definitely keep looking out for Target deals more often.
KFelon @ Jan 13th 2008 6:53PM
My local Target has been selling Tony Hawk Proving Ground for 360 @ $29.99 in the clearance section since the begining of December.

Cant pay for items on Circuit City's site. Keeps coming up with errors, tried multiple cards, and multiple browsers. I Hate Circuit City!!!

>The only unbelievably overpriced add-on -- that shouldn't even be an add-on but rather built-in -- is the Wireless adapter ( Wi-Fi ) @ $100. Insane! Market price should be much closer to $50 MSRP, even with it being the only true compatible wireless network adapter for the 360. I'd much prefer $25 - 35 MSRP and would think much more highly of them for it being built-in. Microsoft has the biggest / best online community of the three major consoles and yet it has the least network able hardware standard. They should have added it when they added HDMI to the lineup. However, as always, it's a decent marketing strategy as people do buy it. Overall though, I'd guess more profit from that many more purchasing it at a much more reasonable price. I could be mistaken though. :-) I wish Nintendo would open up to online gaming more but I don't see that happening.
Anywho...
The Messenger Kit is tempting. That's a 33%-ish discount.

Am I the only one here who just couldn't get into Assassin's Creed? I mean, it looks amazing, and the gameplay is fun, but it's just too repetitive. I mean, I'm like a little more than a 1/3 of the way through the game and I'm thinking "Am I ever going to do anything different?"
