Fanboys unite to bring GoldenEye 007 to the XBLA

1UP reports that the XBLA version of GoldenEye was in development by Rare for two solid months before the project got shelved. Shelved, because Microsoft and Nintendo couldn't agree on financials, profit sharing and all the grown-up business stuff that's involved. As a result of the shelving, the GoldenEye and XBLA communities have united over at GoldenEye XBL in an effort to bring attention to the drama at hand by sending out emails and doing some old fashioned petition signing. Again, we can't be 100% certain that the GoldenEye / Microsoft / Nintendo drama is based on fact, but if you choose to believe and GoldenEye on the XBLA is important to you, then by all means get active. Unite!
[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]

We need GoldenEye, along with the rumored XBLA version of Quake 3. If they could get those out, they would have 2 killer arcade titles on their hands.
mike shea @ Jan 13th 2008 2:35PM
i signed it.
god i hope it works out in the end.
Fight the good fight @ Jan 13th 2008 2:36PM
Fight the good fight my men, alone we are nothing but together we are unstoppable! Our numbers far outweigh their stupidity, and all you have to do is show them how angry you are at their stupidity and greed!
They want our money, but won't give us a good reason to hand it over! Show them this this is one of the best!
Email those morons and show them who's in charge. We're the ones paying for their lunch, for their car, for their house, for everything! Their success is Dependant on our wants and demands! SHOW THEM!
Show them, and be strong! United, we are untouchable!

I only played a few minutes of the game in MP, but I would be interested in picking it up. But I would only do so if it was rebuilt to work on the 360 with improved graphics and controls, because I have tried to play a few N64 games since my 360 and I just can't handle them after being used to the 360.
Also I was going to get Durandal, but it made me feel really sick, so if they remake goldeneye, make sure it doesn't do that.
No for the old John Handcock.

wa27 @ Jan 13th 2008 3:27PM

skunkworks @ Jan 13th 2008 3:53PM
pfft internet patitions........
those always work.............
kastonie @ Jan 13th 2008 3:55PM
Why don't microsoft and nintendo and rare agree to have this game on XBLA and on Virtual Console at the same time? then they dont have to worry about whos getting what money. They would just make their own money.....
Dopple Boppler @ Jan 13th 2008 4:09PM
Because that makes too much sense.
kastonie @ Jan 13th 2008 3:57PM
I mapped it to mouse and keyboard on the n64 emulator and it was almost awesome.....if they made it work for real with 2 analog sticks it would rock ass...
kastonie @ Jan 13th 2008 3:58PM
man that was supposed to be a reply to #8
DeadPlasmaCell @ Jan 13th 2008 3:58PM
This is an Internet petition I can get behind.. will it work?? Probably not, but it's for a good cause!
Ryan @ Jan 13th 2008 4:16PM
Is there anyone here who wouldn't pay more than the XBLA going rate for Goldeneye?
Why can't MS just give Nintendo what they want and add a couple bucks to the price of the game? I've got to imagine that even if Goldeneye went for $5 more than the most expensive XBLA game it would still be the best selling XBLA game they've ever had.
It's not often that I say this, but give Nintendo what they want and make us pay for it!
mike shea @ Jan 13th 2008 5:21PM
here here har har!
PerfectStrategy @ Jan 13th 2008 4:09PM
UNITE!
carmack00 @ Jan 13th 2008 4:22PM
Even if MS dont make a small profit or breaks even its still a win for them.... Thats one of the best games of all time and to have that be on XBLA is a huge plus... Bite the bullet and release Goldeneye
YoRone22 @ Jan 13th 2008 4:29PM
Online petitions don't do shit. Remember the petition for Devil May Cry? How did that end up?
Jay @ Jan 13th 2008 4:35PM
Who's to say Nintendo's being the poor sport on this one? It could have been
MS: Hey, can we put goldeneye on XBLA?
N: Sure, if we can put it on VC
MS: F U....more monies for us
N: Then no....you can't put it on XBLA
The best way this could work out is they put it out on both (considering I have the Wii but do not yet have a 360 due to lack of monies)
David W. @ Jan 13th 2008 4:39PM
hahahaha...guessing there was a but more to it than that, funny though :)
Besides, it was probably more like...
Nin: We get 60% of the profits
Mic: No we get 60% of the profits
Nin: nooooo we get 60% of the profits
Mic: Noooooo we get 60% of the profits
Nin: Noooo wiiiiii get 60% of the profits
Mic: aha, I see what you did there...funny...but we still get 60%
something along those lines :)
SadisticHam @ Jan 13th 2008 5:29PM
"Online petitions don't do shit. Remember the petition for Devil May Cry? How did that end up?"
How? It ended up with Capcom releasing an official statement and addressing the fans. It got NOTICED. That's the idea of a petition, it's the best we can do.
Signed, I'd happily pay whatever they charge.
BoxNut @ Jan 13th 2008 5:30PM
This would be really cool.
I'd also love to see Duke Nukem 3D, as well as Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project... I would happily give them my money for those two.
Perno @ Jan 13th 2008 6:31PM
No Odd Job.
Mordeux @ Jan 13th 2008 9:07PM
IT MUST HAPPEN.
BananaBoat @ Jan 13th 2008 10:29PM
If it has online, I'd buy it.
If it doesn't? I've still got the original cart. Why buy it again?
ExMcloud @ Jan 13th 2008 11:16PM
Y cant we have this game MS....Sob.... Please please...This would literally be the first arcade game that's considered a system seller....I'd buy this and Perfect dark for 20 bux easy
Chris @ Jan 14th 2008 12:21AM
This shit would sell consoles.
The BS Police @ Jan 14th 2008 12:41AM
Seriously, this is the very first FPS I ever played, and that was when I was 11 years old back in 1998, I remember it quit clearly.
I was watching my friends Hockey Game and after the game we whent down to walmart where he got an N64 and Goldeneye.
I never knew that day would effect my life to this day, because Goldeneye got me into FPS shooters.
Without it I wouldn't have played Perfect dark, without it, i would never have Played Duke Nukem 3D and Doom, and without it, I would not have played Halo!
I want to see this game and Perfect dark go to the XBLA, those firends I were talking about back 10 years ago, well, we all own Xbox 360's and we play Halo 3 regularly, and we wanna see Goldeneye and Perfect dark on the XBLA.
cg @ Jan 14th 2008 4:18AM
Isnt it a game best left in the past anyway?? I wouldnt want to play it in 2008. Nostalgia is an illness.
Whingnut @ Jan 14th 2008 7:17AM
Bah,
I can't play most of my downloaded XBLA titles since I've had my RRoD box replaced because of the overly restrictive DRM. I'm not buying anything until the establish an effective means of transferring licenses to new consoles. In the mean-time, I'll just bust out my old-school 360 and play Goldeneye if I get the hankerin'.
captain underpants and the bringdown gang @ Jan 14th 2008 7:52AM
www.goldeneyesource.com you are all welcome.
George Arauz @ Jan 14th 2008 1:00PM
Sick man.. dude.. u love this game
ccc @ Jan 14th 2008 11:26AM
What needs to happen is MS needs to make a deal with Nintendo letting Rare make it for the Wii downloadable as well then The big N most likley wouldn't have any troubles with this. Problem solved.
JaseH @ Jan 14th 2008 6:55PM
Please Nintendo... give these fanboys something to play.
Halo 3 has already bored them enough to ask for a 97' game.
They're pleading with their lives.
