Surprise! Alone in the Dark delayed until May

It's been a rough week for Alone in the Dark. First, it was reported that the game would miss its projected March release date (which was itself a delay from last November), then Atari made it clear that the title had not been delayed 'til September. However, the company did not confirm a March release. And so here we are with the latest headline: Alone in the Dark has been delayed until May. An even more interesting wrinkle, the PS3 version of the game will not see the light of day in May, and has been pushed to an indeterminate date sometime later in 2008. So there you have it, folks, the final word on Alone in the Dark. Unless they delay it again, of course.

FFS. Why don't they just keep their gobs shut until it's ready for release and THEN tell us when it's coming out.

Really dont care about this game. We know hardly anything about it and very little gameplay has been shown so its hard to be excited about. I have a feeling this game is going to be terrible.

Wait so, it was delayed to Sept from Mar but now delayed to May from Sept? Isn't that going back in the year? Pushed up? Who cares anyhow there has been buzz about the game but nothing of gameplay (or very little) to really care that much.

Damnit, why can't they release them at the same time. Sony should have made PS3 a lot easier to program for.

I'm assuming the reason for the delay is because the PS3 version is hard to make and they were trying to make the game release on both systems and they ran into problems and kept delaying the game until they can figure it out. Then they said fuck it we'll just release them separately so all that work they did trying to make it a dual release game is wasted and if they would have said lets just release an xbox 360 version it would have came out earlier.

You know... sometimes I think these "delayed" announcements are leaked by the company using a date they would ideally like to delay it to merely to get a gauge of how the stakeholders will react. Depending on the reactions, they then provide a revised date that reflects a compromise with the developers and stakeholders needs and desires. I can explain all these bogus release and delay announcements that are constantly flying around.

aah, another developer that can't program for the PS3...

from what i'm hearing, the same treatment is being done for Silent Hill 5 as it's currently only running on the 360. The Collective can't understand the PS3 for the life of them.

oh, and the Alone in The Dark Movie sucked!
