Sam's Club offers Rock Band for $150
While Rock Band is undeniably one of the best party games available, there's also no denying that it's one of the most expensive. Standing at a wallet-thinning price of 180 smackers, it's not the easiest purchase to make. Thankfully, discount merchant Sam's Club looks to remedy at least some of that pain by offering the Rock Band Special Edition (which includes the game, guitar, drums, and microphone) for $149.66, a full thirty dollars off the retail price. Keep in mind you must be a member of Sam's Club to take advantage of this offer, but it's a substantial savings. If you're a member (or you know someone who is), you could do a lot worse.[Thanks, Chaim Cohen]

So what is different in the Special Edition?
Moorio @ Jan 18th 2008 6:51PM
It includes the instruments.

Not bad, but keep in mind a Sam's Club membership is $35, last time I checked.

Correct, I was just pointing out the price of membership, in case anyone was wondering.

I think it comes with an extra guitar for bass.
walsh84 @ Jan 18th 2008 5:59PM
No it doesn't. I'm not really sure why it's called the Special Edition, it's somewhat misleading. The SE just includes the game, drums, guitar, and microphone as mentioned in the original post.

Oh nevermind then I heard that on VGO podcast I guess there wrong.

Costco has the same box for about the same price (+/- a few cents), for those who are interested.
Chuckles @ Jan 18th 2008 6:19PM
You guys are a tad late on this, as this has been the price since launch.
Mike Jenkins @ Jan 18th 2008 8:14PM
Without tax it's $169 so you're really only saving around $20.

I bought it at sams the day it came out at this price. Is this seriously considered news?

I just want to point out that IMO the Wii is nothing more than a party game, which makes Rock Band relatively cheap as far as party games go. I went to a party this past week where folks had a choice between playing Rock Band on the 360 and various Wii titles. Nobody wanted to play the Wii.

Damn right

You were at a party and you couldn't come upw ith better things to do than play rock band or wii? No offense, but you need to find a better party.

EB has a 10% off coupon, I just used it to get Rock Band for 153.
