Finally, Alone in the Dark gameplay footage

After plenty of hype and numerous delays, Atari has at last seen fit to grace the gaming public with some actual gameplay footage from Alone in the Dark. It looks as though the game has taken some serious inspiration from Resident Evil 4 and added some new ideas into the mix as well. One of the big focuses of the trailer seems to be the level of interaction players have with various objects. Whether it be setting things on fire (be they random bits of wood or trails of gasoline), destroying innocent furniture with an axe, or knocking down doors with a fire extinguisher, it seems a heavy emphasis has been placed on the manipulation of environmental objects.
But who cares about that? This is Alone in the Dark and we want to see monsters, right? Fortunately, there is a glimpse of some of the long-legged beasties you'll be fighting. Unfortunately, it's only a glimpse, so we'll have to wait for a future trailer to show us more. Oh, and just for the record, we hope the final version of the game maintains the creepy children's choir. Creepy stuff. Watch the video after the break.

What I always liked in Alone in the Dark was the fact that it had nothing to do with aliens, but ghosts and paranormal stuff .. I hope they have ghosts that I can burn in there.

I've never followed this game but that inventory system looks pretty sweet. And a lot of the physics looked on par with Lucas Arts Euphoria system.

Looks fun, but I'm a little worried it will play to slow for it's own good. You'd figure a horror adventure type game would be a balls to the walls heart pumping race for ones life. Not the entire time of course but those moments of danger in the trailer are taken as casually as a school fire alarm.

You really should've just used the same screenshot you've been using all along, and make it a kind of running gag of sorts.

I'm so happy seeing that. It honestly didn't show much about the game itself it just showed off some fancy new features.
What's made me so happy is the fact i can pick up random stuff, shoot things off walls and use it as a weapon - condemned style. The last alone in the dark i played had a massive flaw, when you left a room and reentered all the enemy would respawn.
That would be fine but the game had a MASSIVE lack of ammo and it was the only decent way of killing these things, it got very frustrating for me in the end. Anyway, the problem is solved in this one it seems because you can use random items.
Definitely going to pick this up, the old one scared the hell out of me. :$

Yep, looks pretty cool. I dig how he opens his jacket for his inventory. Fresh and cool.

wow, looks nice. It looks similar to Resident Evil 4 style of play, which I liked.

It felt a bit too...clunky for me. I liked the inventory system though. I will wait for reviews/opinions before i get this one. Something tells me...it's going to phail.
