Rumor: European XBVM to get a huge content boost

According to an interview with Silicon Republic, Orla Sheridan (MS Ireland's Entertainment and Devices Division manager) went on record to say that they have "imminent" plans to increase Ireland's movie catalog from the current 30-40 to somewhere around 400 titles. Next-Gen contacted Microsoft UK about Sheridan's remarks and confirmed that there will be new movies releasing "in the coming weeks", but fell short of confirming Sheridan's talk of a massive wave of new Video Marketplace content releasing anytime soon.
So, we know that new movie rentals will be coming to Europe's XBVM in the next few weeks, but nobody is sure of how many or when the European Marketplace will catch up with the U.S.'s massive catalog. We can only hope Sheridan is right. Next on the agenda, making the rentals more affordable.

Jesus! 400 new movies? Awesome... I was begining to think that they were ignoring us or trickle out movies 3/4 every month. Now if only they were all worth the rent I'd be spoilt

Canadian's actually have less movies now than from when they launched the XBVM up here.

Could you stop calling it the European Video Market place? Most countries in Europe with Xbox Live does not have the Video Market place (Sweden being one of them, from where I am) and it sucks...

uhm, here in the Netherlands still no XBLVM...
I mean sure, whatever Ill download my movies anyways, but its always nice to have the option of buying youre movies legally, specially if you can download them and watch them om youre tv afterwards...
so why dont MS first get everyone the Video marketplace, and THEN expend its already excisting video marketplaces!

It`s about freakin`time..Although I´m not downloading anything until they give me my points for 300 back, which I could never watch :(
Cheers

40 movies? Hell, that'd be great! We've only got 22 up here in Canada, and only 3-5 of them were released in 2007...

How about trying to fix Live first? I get errors just trying to BROWSE for content (be it demos or game DLC). No way I'll do anything with video marketplace while Live is still barely working.

Can you please...please!!!...find out if and when Canada will get an update...we went from 31 at launch to 32 and now were at 22?...and none of the ones that left had an available until date. ex(Bug)...i fear they are going to slowly take movies off until we have none and then cancel the service...not enough interest maybe?...personally I have rented 10 from the service but others feel the prices are to unreasonable...which can certainly be argued...cheers, Ghost.
Viridium @ Jan 23rd 2008 4:28PM
The prices are stupid. I'll stick with my free rentals from the local libary; the upscaling isn't THAT bad.
Finlander @ Jan 25th 2008 1:43PM

@Samisin
I hear you brother!
Same kind of non exsiting VM in Austria. And there's no sign for it to appear anytime soon. Oh well, there's still the Robbie Williams videos and a few crappy soccer ads to kill some time... *vomits brain through the ears*
