Joystiq plays Rez HD, releases next week

If, like us, you missed out on Rez the first time -- it was originally a PS2 and Dreamcast title -- then you may want to check out Joystiq's recent hands-on session with Rez HD (complete with extra vibrating controllers). For those that are unaware of the trappings of Rez, it is one of several musically inspired games from Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Q Entertainment. 360 owners would know their work from the Xbox Live Arcade game Lumines Live. Imagine the musical qualities that Lumines applied to the puzzle genre and then imagine the same properties being applied to an on-rails shooter and you'll have some idea of what Rez HD has in store for XBLA. If that sounds like fun to you, head over to Joystiq to learn more.
Oh, and we should probably mention that the game is releasing on XBLA next week (January 30 to be precise).

This game really doesn't interest me, ever since space giraffe I've decided to be wary of overhyped very stylized games. Just seems like there are a lot of people supporting the whole flash/indie XBLA thing too much and really expecting wonders.
Who knows maybe I'll love it, I'll download it anyways

I had this for Dreamcast back in the day and it is certainly not another Space Giraffe.
It's fun and hypnotizing and has some intense boss battles. It's awesome and I've played though it again and again and will absolutely be picking this up.

Yeah, 100% different than Giraffe. Combine trance music, Panzer Dragoon and TRON (the movie) and you get an inkling into REZ. I can't want to play this! (I have REZ on PS2 twice over, but can't wait to play in HD and get Achievements.) I wonder if the Lost Areas will be in this release? Hmm..that Area has some amazing music!

As much as I love Space Giraffe, I also have to say that they're quite different. Rez might be stylized, but there is never really a situation where you can't tell what's going on either.

This will be my first time with this game and I cannot wait. It looks beautiful and hypnotizing. Plus it comes out the day after my birthday! Day one purchase.

Rez is, quite easily, one of my favorite games of all time.
The music, the visuals, and the boss battles are insane amounts of fun. This has been my most anticipated game for 2008 since I first read that it was coming to XBLA.

Had this (pirated) on dreamcast, bought it for PS2, will be glad to play it again.
It certainly is fun to play - a great combination of graphics, sound, and gameplay. It hasn't been matched by the copycat fly-through music games.
After this, I demand Vib Ribbon! (PS1).
