Friday deal: Half price 360 controllers
So, do you find yourself with an Xbox 360 and only one controller? We don't blame you. Those things are expensive, and for only $10 more you could buy a brand new game. That said, you'll need more controllers to enjoy some vibratory goodness while playing Rez HD next week. So, what's an enterprising gamer to do? Why not pick up a 360 wireless controller for only $24.99? The folks at Stootsi.com are offering them for just that price today only, so if you want one, you'd best jump on it now. Now, before you go plopping down your hard-earned money, you should know that these are open box controllers and not necessarily in new condition. They do come with a 30-day warranty though, which is on par with what you'll see from many used game stores. Still, buy at your own risk, and please, share your opinions of Stootsi.com if you've shopped with them before.[Via Paranoised]

Great news story... You can get almost anything at half price if it's 'not necessarily in new condition.' Here I was all excited by the headline...
TORO @ Jan 25th 2008 3:20PM
Lol I was excited with the headline too, ur a tease Sensei. I don't want someone else's grubby hands on my controller! haha
Loban @ Jan 25th 2008 3:16PM
So this place is sort of like Woot I assume.
eugene @ Jan 25th 2008 3:21PM
nice, so for 25 bucks I can get a controller that's been abused and has various food debris stuck in the button wells? NICE!
Mighty Healthy @ Jan 25th 2008 4:11PM
Yes.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
Bonus skin crud in the crevices, at NO cost to you!

Actually, I'm just kidding. Don't do it kids.
Knowing is half the battle.

$25 for a farted on controller. $40 for a Brand New Controller. Decisions , Decisions.
Tony @ Jan 25th 2008 3:28PM
Who has wireless 360 controllers new for $40...? I only seem to find them for $50.
Plus, I don't think this is a bad deal. It's like buying used games, who cares.

Yeah this is not necessarily a great deal, imagine getting a messed up controller and how irritating it would be to return for a working one. You're better off getting a new one or at least getting a used one from a local retailer, that way you could dash out again if it was gimped.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!
I have been a stootsi shopper for over a year now and i have bought 3 items from them in the last month in their "Month of Gaming".
They have all been in poor quality and HEAVILY used.
They say open box, but these things have clearly been used and distressed.
The "quick charge kit" i got was in fine shape, but the battery that came with it had scratched to hell contacts, and you could tell it was used heavily. The battery was not even recognized by the charger and only last about 45 seconds in a controller.
The xplorer guitar i got from them was not badly distressed but it was clearly used, smelled a bit funky, and had a busted tilt sensor....
i could go on, but the point is, these "open box" gaming accessories are a serious gamble.
YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR SHIPPING TO RETURN AND ARE NOT REIMBURSED FOR THE SHIPPING TO YOU.
bottom line is this: i spent around $80 (including shipping) on these broken items, spent around $25 returning them, and only got credited $60.
($80-60)+25= $45 in shipping, and nothing to show for it.
In their defense, all previous non-"open box" items i have bought from them have been great, but these open box "deals" are simply headaches waiting to happen.

Thanks for the heads up grant.
and also, if you're going to use these controllers to stick up your ass for "Rez trance vibration goodness", you're going to want them to be clean.
HazyCloud @ Jan 25th 2008 3:55PM
+1 xenocidic. I needed a good laugh.

During an average day of gaming, I probably grab my nuts about 50 times and pick my nose a few times. This is pretty standard for most guys I think. So if you buy a controller from here, have fun fondling another dude's balls while you pwn some n00bs.
Trekster_Gamer @ Jan 25th 2008 4:59PM
Common if you are an unclean looser, get a life and get rid of the lice on your nuts and try using a hanky you freak....
chris @ Jan 25th 2008 6:53PM
I agree with Trek, I got a gaming hanky for my nuts and now my nostrils don't smell like ballsweat anymore.
Ripcord83 @ Jan 25th 2008 9:52PM

Ball rub residue and chesse puff thumb prints put aside, I would'nt buy a turd from stootsi,I bought a quick charge kit and the batteries would'nt hold a charge for more than 2 minutes, then after returning I was accused of switching merchendise, thank god for Visa 100% protection,
Josh @ Jan 26th 2008 7:57AM
Where WOULD you buy a turd from?
Finnyz @ Jan 25th 2008 10:48PM
best place to buy controllers = microcenter
I grabbed two a couple years ago, wireless, breadnew, in factory packaging, twenty bucks a piece.
i think they do this everynow and then, so that is the best place to check.
MrKniceGuy @ Jan 26th 2008 1:27AM
sTootsi has been good to me on new stuff in the past but sounds like not so good on the used. Of course it was shortly after my last purchase that my credit card #s got jacked and used to buy some WoW time. Don't know if it was related for sure, but I haven't bought anything from them since.
George Arauz @ Jan 26th 2008 11:18AM
CRAP!! i didnt see this and now im too late
