360 attach rate now 7 games per console

The Wii may consistently take the console sales crown, but there is no denying that the Xbox 360 sells the most software. As if to drive this point home, Microsoft CFO Chris Liddell recently told CNBC that the Xbox 360's life-to-date attach rate now rests at seven games sold per Xbox 360 Console. As Eurogamer points out, the latest attach rate is significantly higher than the 5.3 attach rate reported last January. Further illustrating just how momentous this feat is, Liddell pointed out that 360 owners are now spending more money on games than an Xbox 360 itself. It's an important point to make, especially for third party publishers. After all, companies want their games where the money is.

That's weird. I have 38 games, and my GF must have at least half that for her console. I guess there are some people that have just one game?

Well, I have a desktop and a laptop. I don't really need another computer.

I guess you spend your money on things you want. I buy games and guns, you may want a new computer. I will say I want my money back for Stranglehold! (The demo fooled me.) haha.

makes sense. I have about 15+ 360 games, 5 wii games (which are horrid and were mostly gifts), and 2 ps3 games (which are also horrid).

I have 12 360 games not including the gawd awful burger king ones, but I have 15 xbla games too, I don't like buying them or keeping them a long time unless the replay value is there

Has to be retail only. I've purchased about 20 retail games in the time I've owned a 360. I currently own 7 retail games, 2 XBox Originals and 11 XBLA games. So I'm sure I skew that attach rate as well.

Had my 360 a year and a bit and have 12 games and 11 arcade, soon to be 12 when REZ arrives.

For comparisons sake i have 30 ps2 games, not counting the ones i've traded in over the years- all of which were bought spread thinly over a SIX year period.

My attach rate is because of the quantity of games i can actually afford, the quality of the library on offer, or the fact that my taste and eye for picking out games has changed over the past few years. go figure.

I've been shocked at how efficient the Xbox 360 is at making me shell out loot for games. I rocked a Dreamcast for about 5 years with maybe 3 games. Jet Grind Radio, NFL 2Ksomethin' and NBA 2KIforget. Now I've got 19 retail 360 games, 3 Xbox back-compat discs, 1 Xbox original, and 35 Xbox Live Arcade games. I'm plateauing though. My current "to get" list is pretty tiny and there are only maybe 5 games I'm super excited about in '08.

Dreamcast forever! We kept coming back to the original Virtua Tennis, and Zombie Revenge. There were a lot of great games there but those two were staples.

And this is what sony needs to worry about. Not someday outselling it in hardware, but getting the software sales up. As it stands for the ps3 to sell as much software as the 360...if would have to have an install base of around 120 million.

Jeez, whoa!!! I only have 3 games (one of which I won in a contest) and only plan on getting about 3 in the future, as of right now. I don't know if I'd ever really finish something like 20+ games- it would take forever, especially considering the length and replay value of some of the titles! I guess the 360's lineup is very solid, though, so I can't really complain...

Now, some of these are personal taste (C&C or The Darkness), but some can't be disputed (Crackdown, The Orange Box, or Rock Band).

Not bad considering there are probably a lot of people who bought more than one 360 for themself. I own 3 and about 25 games. Makes sense! Great system! Not the greatest hardware though!

I have about 35 for 360 games 10 I'm planning on returning, 3 BK games that i got for a gift lol, and the rest I play frequently enough to keep them. Then, I have 2 PS3 games that I never play. Then, I have 5 Wii games which I play if my bro is hoggin the 360, and dont feel like playing multiplayer. I would like to see the attach rates for the PS3 and Wii, I'm guessing the Wii is about 1-3 and PS3 is about 0-1.

119 Retail, 35 XBLA games here. Along with a high power, self built PC. I get the best of both worlds (except that empty bank balance feeling).

Games are cheap enough if you're willing to search for the cheapest prices, willing to buy pre-owned, or take advantage of multibuy deals. Well I counted the other day and I have 23 retail games, well 24 if you count my 2 Halo 3. I will have 30 by the end of the year easily.

I count as 3 people alone, and as many people have 40+ games there are either lots of games in collections that are used, or some people don't have a game at all. I can't really see how the numbers can add up. If just 10% of owners have 40 games, and 10% have 30, and 20% have 20. That makes around 11 games per player. And those numbers seem about right to me, so what do the other 60% play.
