New Call of Duty 4 DLC to release this Spring

Just arriving in our press release inbox is news from Activision that they're planning on releasing their first ever Call of Duty 4 downloadable content this Spring. The new DLC will usher in a few new multiplayer maps to the CoD4 gaming community via download off the XBLM, but other than that, mum is the word. Neither Activision or Infinity Ward have detailed how many new multiplayer maps will be released, what the DLC pricing will be or an exact date for the new content's release. But we're sure CoD4 fanboys will be happy with whatever Infinity Ward makes available in the months to come and hell, we have faith in them too. Long live affordable and relevant DLC! W00t!

Dreamed about two CoD4 maps last night: (Yeah, I really did.)

• One map was in a health quarantined, suburban street at night. You hear crickets and dogs barking in the distance. The street is abandoned, the buildings having been left alone for a few weeks. Doors had big painted 'X's on them, and one home had a small prop plane smashed into it's side, still smoldering.
One side of the street was a culdesac, the other was blocked by military tape and MP vehicles.

• The other map I dreamed about was on top of Chicago (Or NYC) skyscrapers, high above ground level. The battles took place in the abandoned offices and rooftops, with scaffolding in parts and ziplines connecting each tower. Broken office windows would cause loud wind gusts and blown paper from desktops.

These were too pretty cool ideas I had; just curious what you all think about them.

Seems more like Rainbow 6 maps to me, but yeah, very cool.

Well, I am pretty indifferent about this press release. I would rather have heard some news on the patch first, then map announcements. Still, of course I'll be buying them, I hope there is at least 3 new maps. More the merrier.

They better hurry up with some details... What happened to the bug patch that was mentioned a while back that was supposed to be released within weeks of the mentioning of it? Hosts keep leaving when their squad is about to lose when they had a lead most of the game... And some people are having nightmares playing the damn game because of connections...

Not to mention I'm stuck in veteran with no ability to get past where I am because it won't register the four tanks being killed...

That's funny this was announced ... I literally googled "CoD4 DLC" this morning.

Hopefully some new maps and the fabled fix of last month.

Whatever Man. I've been reading about the "Patch" releasing soon and all that other BS. There's so many frustrating things about CoD4, and this coming from the guy who USED to be their freakin spokesperson! Or, you would have thought I was. I'm Fed Up I tell ya. FED UP!!! I'll talk about it when it gets here damnit! (Sorry)

Yeah, I agree! I thought the same thing when I read the headline, whatever! I've waited so long for any info regarding a patch, etc. Spring, what the hell does that mean? Based on the calendar that could be anywhere between March 20 and June 21 and based on my recent experiences with call of duty 4, I'd say closer to June and probably delayed until "Summer." Screw you, IW and Activision.

Once Assassin's Creed goes on Ebay, I'm getting CoD4 next so until that time, I'm not making any comment about Halo 3,their mappacks , their patches and their broken melee system.

That's the most annoying bug thought.Plus I'm getting CoD4 soon-ish so I might come back redeemed as a CoD fanboy, declaring how much Halo sucks :)

800 points ... 3 or 4 maps. Pretty standard now days. I'm fairly content with the current maps, but more variety is always welcome. How about some multiplayer achievements!?!1

Well I'm already bored to death of it, only 'play' it to keep up with xbl friends (really need another game to see me through to R6V2)...

What a coincidence that this is going on around the same time as the map competition closes though... Methinks that the winner(s)'s map(s) will be included, but I want that patch first (might fix what I'm starting to hate in this game - inconsistency).

Pay-For-Patch...they announce the DLC hoping that we 'forget' about the patch, which they will then incorporate into the DLC.

This is the feeling i'm getting.

Activision/IW has a great thing here, they just aren't managing it well...too bad...I guess the 'Modern Warfare' is just too much for them.

If you guys thing waiting to long to get these bugs fixed is bad wait until you hear what they are planning for a COD5.
The rumor is that they will use the cod4 format of perks and all but it is going to be the call of duty via war war 2 again.
I agree with all of you and I still play but it is getting very boring.
I would pay $50.00 for new downloads.
You can only find so many new hiding places and new places to walk.
I don't understand why they cant have it to where we can comodere a tank or something and place that javelin around the boards.
How about a protect the tank in team deathmatch???
I know I am being corny but anything would be great.

Wrathe, How can you say that the COD4 was to much for them???
Granted this game has issues but what game doesn't.
Do you remember the old days with Red alert 2 command and conquer??
Those games had a ton of bugs.
Activision has clealry made one of the best all time games.
And I personally want to thank them for not making so you have to buy one copy for each computer.
Tey allow you to play online or in house network with one disk.
I have 4 computers in the house and it cost me a fortune to buy 4 copies of fear.
We shouldn't biute a gift horse in the mouth.

Oh forgot to add that I don't see a reason why they wont allow more than one chopper in the air at once.

Why wait so damn long to release DLC?

Especially with Rainbow Six Vegas 2 coming out...

A lot of people won't even download the new content because they'll be playing a new game....lol....

massive dome, you are correct but will Rainbow six be as good as COD4???
I have the latest of Doom and Fear and various other shooters i.e counterstrike. but I didn't feel like playing any of them especially in Multiplayer mode after I played COD4.
They just where not that amusing to me.
COD4 just has that area cornered.
Will other new games have perks? will other new games have bonus upogrades and exprience levels??
Gee I hope so because COD4 not caring about the PC community for the 2nd time is starting to tick me off.
They over looked us in COD3 and are doing it again with the new boards for cod4.
I think this company is being like others and is all about the money.

i think that the maps will be godd but i also think that just like the others they are going to be played and played and before to long they are going to be just like the others...they need to get all new maps instead of just adding a couple here and there and hoping that people like them

-i think that a good map idea would be a small village with a couple small houses which is on the edge of the woods...then the map will also be played a ways into the woods and there will be small broken huts and creeks and gullies in the woods...

-another is a village which has maybe 5 buildings and their will also be 2 bridges on each side connecting both sides of the map...there will be large and small trees that provide cover and their will also be a water tower on one side of the map that will be accessible to anybody (limited cover)...this is pretty much a souped up version of overgrown...!
